Would A Church Accept A Pregnant Woman Out Of Wedlock?

I made mistakes, I left my faith and turned to drink, drugs, sex to try and numb the pain of what I had experienced in my life. I was planning to end myself the night I found out I was pregnant. I think it was a gift to remind me to keep going. The father wants to be in the child's life and we are going to try and make a relationship work.

I want to attend church again, I want my child to when they are born but I'm worried I'll be shunned and no longer accepted as a unwed mother and after the things I have done. God forgives me, I know in my heart but I don't think the community will.

Why would you want to be around such judgmental people? Your child was an accident, and it was your own strength that saved you from suicide, not some miracle from God. With that said, you dont have to let your child go through the things you did, you just have to be strong and willing to fight for the life your daughter deserves, the kind of life she wants to live. What will you do if your daughter makes the same mistakes you did? If she is being judged by the church for mistakes that she's made, would you just accept that? Will you disown her for getting pregnant out of wedlock? Will you silently side with your church? Or would you get angry and teach them a lesson for emotionally abusing your daughter? If you would pick the third option, then why do you allow them to emotionally abuse you?

They would Christian hate the sin but love the sinner, Trust me I have the same struggle with faith as you do, younger christians in their teenage years tend to be assholes trust me I left the church because people my age were assholes it was when I was 18 and 28 now I’m sure they’ve matured a lot

There are some great churches with some great congregations out there that are very accepting and non-judgemental.

I attended one in my last town of residence. It was a Lutheran church. The pastor was a woman and the organist/pianist was openly gay. It was mostly an older, but very friendly congregation. They had signs all over about the ELCA, which is the organization or denomination I believe they belonged to.

But you don't need church to practice your religion, so regardless what happens, please don't think your worth is determined by a church. Good luck.

Some would probably reject you. Might depend on how legalistic they are. My church would welcome you and encourage you to get connected. Depending on the nature of your situation, you might not be allowed to serve/volunteer in certain areas or ministries, but attending the church and being part of the community wouldn't be an issue.

We had a guy a while ago who was removed from serving a specific ministry because he got his gfriend pregnant. He continued to attend the church and be part of the community but was no longer allowed to serve in that ministry because of his choices.

If It's the right kind of church, they would love and accept you as you are. They don't need to necessarily agree with you, but they should accept you.

Depends on the church. Some priest are really kind and understanding and some are not. Search for the first one. A good priest will not have a problem with you having a child out of wedlock. Don't worry. Everything's gonna be alright.
