Are you willing to wait for sex till marriage/will you want to marry a religious person?

I considered myself to be quite religious that’s why I want a guy who is just like me. He needs to be willing to accept me for who I’m, be it flaws, not being able to fit all of his preferences just as I’m willing to do the same for him. He is not allowed to love me more than God as I don’t want him to stray away from God. I don’t want him to hate me for letting it happen. I wouldn’t want to marry a guy who is not religious because I knew that me and him will never have anything in common. I’m not against people who don’t believe in God as my religion says everyone is allowed to have free will. I don’t like it when the so called religious people shamed others for not believing in God.

I’m willing to accept and not push them to be Christians but I will push myself to be religious because I owed God everything even my life, it’s because of him that I’m not born as a handicap even though my mum gave birth to me at 36 years old. I would expect my religious partner to be just as committed to God as I’m. I once found a guy on GAG who was an ex Christian. He gave up Christianity for other reasons. He was a very nice guy, he’s willing to accept my flaws. He wanted to date me, I agreed. Weeks later it was mistake for accepting him because I later found out that me and him were not compatible. I would no doubt disappoint my parents for dating someone who’s not religious.

Before I marry someone I will first have to get approval from my parents. I know I’m a little old fashion but let’s be honest parents know best. I found that finding a religious good man is very hard. If I’m fated to be single I’m able to accept it. Single people can be happy too.

I disagree about "parents know best", in my experience parents rurhlessly drive young couples apart if one is not from a wealthy family or not from the right Christian Church. The force their child into a semi-arranged marriage to someone they will be miserable with and their kids will probably be miserable as their parents don't click together.

As for your faith, don't let religion dominate your life, use it as guide to being a good person and go out and enjoy life and inspire others through good deeds.

Jesus didn't sit around a church for years praying, he got out and toured and prayed when he got time, it was his good deeds that inspired others, compassion and kindness.

As for love, the right person for you might not be what your parents think is right, but everything happens for a reason in life, follow your gut instinct.

Thank you for the advice. Yeah in the old days my grandma’s generation, many young girls were forced to marry a man they don’t love.

Yeah it was the same for my grandparents era, but usually only for some Christian groups, like I know Presbyterian & Quaker families who would disown a child who wanted to marry a Catholic, instead they usually would be forced to marry their 2nd, 3rd or 4th cousins because of a shortage of eligible partners in their church. Really shocking and unchristian like behaviour.

I wish there were more people like you, as a parent I would be proud of you for your choices, you hold great core values. Holding onto your core values and beliefs in many circumstances will make it easier to filter out the guys that value marriage just like you. If you want to protect your core beliefs, never be left alone with a man in your home and meet in public places, it may cost more or require more thought to find inexpensive places to enjoy together, but sometimes there are sacrifices to make for a soul mate. Don’t force yourself into a timeline to get married, wait till the perfect timing for the right person. In the meantime work on being a better you and achieve your goals to be the person you want to be. Enjoy your independence while you have it.

I’m old-fashioned. I’m a Christian. I’m not religious. I do love Jesus though, there is a big difference, whether people understand it or not. In fact, James 1:17 gives God’s definition of religion. It’s a bit different from ours.
I’m waiting for marriage. Waiting for marriage is not only an obedience factor (as I believe that ANY sexual activity is intended only for marriage between a man and a woman. People will mock that idea, and guess what. I don’t care.) It also helps protect me and my future spouse from STDs, unwanted pregnancy etc etc. Society says that waiting is silly and that’s fine. Society is full of selfish, irresponsible, impatient idiots who think they know best. I’m probably offending a lot of people right now and I don’t care. I will listen to the Truth of the God of the Bible verses the “truth/wisdom” that society feeds me. Heck, society can’t even make up it’s mind. So why should I give it any attention.
