The way I see it is look at all the crazy shit that happens in the world today, all the hatred, death, pedophilia, starving people, war and corruption and so on... I even read about a church catching fire while people were gathered for worship... it's wild I know, but that all makes me think that if their is a God he is either not all good or not all powerful... but I don't know.
Now I do believe in the universe and I believe it will supply you with what you need and possibly what you want and if you use incantations and meditation.
I don't know if their is a divine entity responsible for us being here or not but I do know that without our star (sun) and without the rock we all call home it wouldn't be possible... I know that weather we were created along with everything else that is around us, or if evolution brought us here or if we are the result of beings from another planet manipulating the DNA of some lost species from this planet, life is a miraculous gift with consciousness bestowed upon us and all other life here, we are special in a way that we are able to adapt and evolve with time, we are able to make choices in ways that other creatures can't, we can be the most caring, living, protective, loyal, understanding, smart, helpful, brave and beautiful creatures upon this planet... but it seems we are also the most careless, destructive, corrupted, greedy, ignorant, full of hate, deceitful, murderous, ugly, selfish, heartless and crazy cancerous plague upon the planet also and we have all lost our way and our ability to live side by side with all other life on this planet... what we need to remember is that nor matter how big or microscopic life is on this planet all life here is equally as precious as any other and just because we are at the top of the food chain doesn't mean that we are the most deserving of life here, it probably means that we are supposed to be the ones that maintain a balance of nature with what was what is and what will be so that life can continue to flourish on this lonely isolated rock floating through an endless void of darkness that we call space (home)20 Reply

Anonymous(18-24)+1 yI went to a Christian school for 8 years as a kid but I never believed in god until the start of this year. I had a tumour found in my head and it wasn’t looking good with the doctors, they didn’t expect me to recover from it. I was in hospital weekly with so much pain in my head for months, I would wake up every night in agony. Right before surgery I prayed for it to be successful and for god to guide the surgeons hands. The surgery was a success, apparently I had a 90% chance of dying from that tumour. Ever since that surgery I have been living my life to the fullest and I pray every single night before I go to sleep, praying for good health and praying for God to continue watching over me. I had that surgery back in June this year.

I simply believe there is a higher power that decided it wasn’t my time to die, and that higher power is what I pray to. I don’t believe in the Christian representation of god, or other religions concept of god. To me god is only some higher power watching over us.
- +1 y
Hey I love your story that is a good way to start believing in higher power
Jesus is your higher power and I’m not telling you believe in him you believe what you believe but I would love you to truly believe in God and know he’s always watching over you - +1 y
90% of chance of dying doesn't mean 100% of chance of dying, and doctors are allowed to be mistaken, strangely, when you get sick, you don't go to the church to be cured with god magic, you go to the hospital to be treated with human knowledge based on science. This argument from improbability is nonsense.

If 'real' means for you something inside your brain, an idea, imagination, illusion, hallucinantion, then god can be real for you.02 Reply- +1 y

As G. K. Chesterton wrote, “It is absurd for the Evolutionist to complain that it is unthinkable for an admittedly unthinkable God to make everything out of nothing, and then pretend that it is more thinkable that nothing should turn itself into everything.”
The paradox is that the atheist is as extreme in his way as is the religious fanatic. Because the atheist sees evil in the world, he jumps to the conclusion that there must therefore be no God.
This presents two problems. First, if there is nothing but the impersonal forces of nature and the laws of physics, then there is no free will. Every thought, every action is predetermined by the intermix of molecular and physical reactions. Nothing can be other than what it is.
The problem then becomes that your belief that God does not exist is then also a simple biochemical molecular reaction. You came to the only conclusion that your physiological structure predetermined you would.
However, if that is true, then your conclusion is no more valid than the opposite conclusion. It was simply the luck of the draw of your brain's electro-chemical reactions and you end up in an intellectual hall of mirrors.
In that connection, atheism tends to premised on a rejection of the idea of God in the absence of proof of His benevolence. This leaves the atheist effectively rejecting only one vision of God - namely the Judeo-Christian version. In truth, there are other conceptions of God. (For example, the ancient Greeks believed that the gods were arbitrary and capricious.)
The second point is that if everything in the universe must have a beginning, then logically something must stand outside the universe to start the universe itself. Chesterton's point stands and is a reflection of Aquinas' view of God as the first cause of all things.
The funny part is that the atheist argues that the universe is more complex than religion. Yet their own explanation is, itself, an oversimplification. Order does not spontaneously come from chaos without something outside itself to impose order. Similarly, if all things existing must start, then something must exist outside of it to start it.
Yet the atheist's problem remains. That the order of existence came from chaos absent something to give it order. It just happened - with the caveat that we don't know how - but it happened within existence because existence is all there is.
That is a presumption - and a problem - for atheism.00 Reply

2nd key Q&A of the Catholic Baltimore Catechism is:
Q: What would happen if GOD stopped thinking of me?
A: I would CEASE to BE!
We are told we are made in God's image AND 'LIKENESS'...
the ONLY place wherein we 'humans' can LITERALLY 'create' FROM NOTHING
is in OUR imaginative 'day dreams'. Everywhere else, we re-combine, manufacture or
chemically-react.
Ask yourself where the inhabitants of YOUR daydreams go when YOUR attentions are required elsewhere?
Ergo we are literally 'figments' of GOD's imagination~218 Reply- +1 y

Yes!
Nope. I’ve been an atheist most my life and I’ve been more into the scientific side. I was a Christian once but there are many contradictions when looking at science. I cannot say the existence of god is not true. But I believe in such things as evolution due to the many evidence supporting it. And as it contradicts with the Christian belief of god put us here. And things such as Noah’s ark which are hard to believe. I have turned myself to a new way of thinking of the world. Involving physics and maths and less belief
010 Reply- +1 y
Why is Noah’s ark hard to believe? I take it you never had any experience you couldn’t explain?
- +1 y
Their are blessings in disguise. Check this video out. It talks about how all the animals fit on the ark.
https://youtu.be/RK3H5gl0300 - +1 y
Update: I watched the video and he still doesn’t explain how he kept food for the animals and he talked about fitting them inside, yes theoretically there’s enough space but for the animals he talked about but he didn’t talk about sooo many more of the other animals, and he was talking like animals are tools you could stack on top of each other. Plus what about climate. You can’t take a polar bear and place it in a warm place. Nevertheless it’s impossible
- +1 y
There isn’t a complete 100% explanation for everything. Like how animals willingly came to God to be put on the ark? You have to go in knowing that. God can literally create anything out of anything. So I don’t doubt how such animals were kept alive.
One thing you have to know that this life right now we are being graded pretty much. When we die, we get judged and depending upon what we did, we go to heaven or hell.
One of my favorite verses is:
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
When we die in this life, our soul still exists. We still exist. If you die a second time, you literally cease to exist. Turned to dust.
Can I ask you this. Do you find yourself rationalizing a lot in life? It is after all the 2nd most human drive. The first is the will to live. That’s really remarkable if you think about it.
Also, certain things had to be God created. There is no other explanation. Like how we are born and the process of such. How your sperm and a woman’s eggs can make a baby. That’s magical on itself. - +1 y
By the way, I appreciate you being respectable in our debate. Thank you.
Sadly NO , everyone would probably like to believe , but with over 15,000 religions available , how could there possibly be a God? There is no reincarnation , you just die and thats it , that was your lot.
If there were much a ruling being , conveyer of good over evil , he / she would not let 15,000 religions happen , he/ she would stop all the horrendous things that happen. NOPE , sadly what you have in this mortal body , well thats it , so make the most of it , and just try and be a good person , thats the best way.
ABSOLUTELY , there is NO GOD , its all business , fantasy , and tax evasion , thrown in a whole lot of lunatics' .00 ReplyMost definitely. All my life. Going through teenhood I had the usual atheistic times of angst and wondering if God existed or if the Bible was even true. Now in my adult life I believe in God fully and don't foresee that ever changing. Places in my life as well unusual experiences also prompt me to have this faith, without going to church. I could go into a long detailed list, but not here.
A few years ago I watched a video with an older middle Eastern man detailing his own story of how he went from Muslim to Christian years back, having seen Jesus in a dream. Jesus called him, and he was compelled to listen. And there's still a patch of his chest where the hair is white, where Jesus touched him in the dream. Was pretty amazing.00 Replyyeah I do. I've experienced some paranormal stuff and I know when something is truly right or wrong in a sense beyond basic human morality. When I had a near death experience I realized I wasn't ready to go because I needed to make right with God first and if I went having lived a casual life in this modern world I knew I wasn't finding salvation. So I had to fix myself and still am to this day. I honestly think there are more people who do believe than will admit simply because they think that by lying to themselves they can go on living a life without honor and virtue and by pretending it's not there they will be fine and nothing bad will ever happen.

HAHAHA god... honestly look how big the universe is and if you think for once god gives a fuck about one little speck of dust compared to the whole universe then you have a very very shallow mind.
There are so many planets that we don't even have a number big enough to count them all. Here is the thing, the universe has some semblance of balance with a set of rules. To say that some one or something set these rules in place is there but not what you would think as in he's going to grant you special privileges because you believe in this thing.
The universe is a very big place and it's mysteries are far and between. Yet far to large for any human mind to comprehend. In order for a human to comprehend the workings of the universe it requires a radical form of teaching. However till then we are still monkey's with nukes.08 Reply- +1 y
God loves each of us very much and you are very wrong to say that if we think god thinks about us that we have a shallow mind! That is not true! Don’t tear us Christians down
- +1 y
And I’m guessing you’re not a Christian in the rude way you are speaking
- +1 y
@girlygirl2034 Look you can believe what you want to, but god is not going to solve the worlds problems. It's not going to stop the suffering of the world. Rather god is the problem on this world in the first place. Did you ever wonder why people suffer because of their belief? God does not come down here and smite their ass's for doing evil? Anyways at least religion has some form of moral and ethical semblance that places upon people to some degree depending on what religion you believe in.
- +1 y
You know all the comments you have made on this question are just so mean spirited. Jesus isn’t the problem m; the problem is that us sinful humans are the ones sinning and if some fucking jerk faces would be more polite than maybe the world would improve a little bit with its problems
- +1 y
Personally I think you need that guidance
- +1 y
Look we all believe in something else, personally I look at the world through a scientific way and yea with all the suffering and hate in this world. Either god doesn’t exist or he does and he doesn’t care or the devil is stronger than god cuz of all the mean things going on. I mean let’s face it evolution itself contradicts the belief of god. There’s scientific evidence of evolution and people have observed it before. like @ManHater said we r a tiny speck of this universe and we rnt even at the center of it. Putting faith in god and thinking things would be alright is not helpful to anyone but you. The world is a cruel place and I really hope u don’t turn to god when someone tries to do something harmful to u.

I'm by no means the most religious person, but I definitely believe in God. How else would the universe have come to be otherwise? Sure, we know about the big bang (or at least we think we do, since it's really just a theory), but I'm still not convinced that some sort of higher power was not responsible for the creation of the universe.
But then again, if there was a God, who are you or I to say that he exists or not? It would not (and probably never) be within our capacity as humans to declare it. We are nothing compared to the universe, let alone a God.00 Reply
+1 yYes I believe there is Source God and I believe that everything is God collectively
The saying we are made in God's image is literal as we have a piece of God in us
I believe that God is nonjudgmental always loving and compassionate even with the ones who make "bad decisions"
I believe that God is always willing to help out in any way you allow God toI believe that God is both Masculine and FeminineI believe God wants you to do what you want to do not what a priest pope or pastor wants you to do03 Reply- +1 y
If you true believe everything is God collectively you have effectively made the term God useless. For one we have better more recognizable word for everything that exists The Cosmos. ( you can it is better because it has a "The". Where is God's "the".) Second you can no longer assign properties to god because A god is already a property or B the only properties that universal true of all thing and the only one i can think of is existing, so your clism is a thing that exists, exists.

+1 yVery much! Try talking to him like you talk to anyone. People complicate God there's no need of it; Jesus will show you all you need to know!
Sometimes Gods voice is audible, sometimes its a feeling like you know you should or shouldn't do something and you dont know why, sometimes its through another person, sometimes you hear it out in nature thats most common to me. He also speaks to us as we are reading the Bible before you read it ask God to help you understand it. God is faithful!20 ReplyI definitely believe that there is a higher being that can be referred to as “God”. But this is not necessarily the Christian God.
Nonetheless there is something bigger than all of us- even if you believe is science, questions reach an extent where the answer is just beyond us and hence a God is the “beyond us”.10 Reply
+1 yDepends how we are defining real. Is it a physical entity like a dude in a chair? Not exclusively.
My take is it’s more or less everything/everyone. Both the creator (consciousness) and the creation (the universe) and we are all the little points those two parts intersect.00 Reply
+1 yI believe science is a deeper study of God’s creation. This world, matter and life itself is way too complex to spontaneously be created out of nothing. Just think about simple elemental matter (solids, liquid, gas and plasma). Did these elements just always exist for all of time?
Believing there is a God is just the first step. But doing his will is another. I could be doing better spiritually lately.00 Reply

+1 yOh yeah, most definitely. I had one experience that I can guarantee it is true. My sister had one once. True believers should have experiences themselves throughout life. Then there is the Bible written over 1600 years by 40 people. You would swear it was written by one person (technically it was). What other religion has a Bible like such?
13 Reply- +1 y
It was written by many people not just one person
- +1 y
40 people wrote it through what God was saying. You wouldn’t know that if you read it.
What makes it remarkable is this. You’re 20 years old. I’m 41. I can almost guarantee that if you and I wrote a book, it would be different because of words and meanings have/are constantly changing. Now imagine you from someone 600 years ago. Would you use the same exact words from 600 years ago?
- +1 y
No I would not
God to me is not an Old man but instead a force or power in the and beyond the universe. A friend once said to me that Christians say God is the Alpha and the Omega, beginning and end. He then said Energy cannot be created or destroyed and this is proven, so he believed that God was Energy, and cannot be created or destroyed. Sounded pretty good.

They say he gives his hardest battles to the strongest people, but when does the agony stop? When does he finally decide youve been through enough and let you enjoy life?

+1 yNope, it's just an imaginary friend designed to give authority to religious leaders, everybody has their own version of god, not everyone is saying the truth, and it's highly possible that none of them are. Just "having faith" is not enough for something to be true, you won't make something real just by believing it hard enough.
00 ReplyNo. The Bible was first written kind of 300 years after the actual events of Jesus. It has been altered and rewritten many times. Some British king decided about the last version. What did he know?
For me, I do believe in a higher being, More like the native americans. Why build a house, paint it white and go there every Sunday? If I want to speak with God, I just go out in nature. He's everywhere, anytime.
