Is church only good for socializing with people?

Whether you believe in God or not, He loves you despite how you feel about Him and His word: The Bible. That's not going to change. I just wanted to share this. The church is meant to be a hospital for sinners/the broken. It is not a museum for the saints. It is meant to be a place where the broken come together and release their pain/receive healing and learn more about the Creator. Socializing is just a plus; it's not the only reason that the church was made. It is for building each other up.

One person alone does not make a church. But two gathered in the name of Jesus can. Three is even better. God calls us to be a community. There are many biblical commands concerning “one another” because God did not mean for us to be alone.

To be able to gather with other like-minded Christians is a great blessing and should not be taken for granted. To gather “in His name” is to gather together, because we belong to Him and He has commanded it.

When we gather in His name, we are more likely to pray in His name, increasing the likelihood that our prayers will be effective. And you'll definitely experience more of the manifestation of God's spirit when you're gathered with others at the right church. Hope this makes sense.

As an atheist I find that religion serves the function of providing purpose to people who do not have any. And so someone truly down on their luck or in great trauma may find considerable relief there.

It is also conventionally understood that only two things have any significant chance of redeeming a repeat-offender. Religion and Relationships. Of course it can be done elsewhere too but it is a purpose it serves.

And sure. Church is also about community. Not just worshiping concepts, true or not.

I feel awkward as hell in church.

I usually just keep to myself and get some tea.

I just feel very out of place there and go because of my family or events some of my family members have.

Then I'll be hungry and wish they had donuts to serve.

I don't have any friends at church so i just keep quiet and observe people.

I mean it's definitely a place to socialize because people build whole communities around church.
