Light upon light. Allāh guides to His light whom He wills. And Allāh presents examples for the people, and Allāh is Knowing of all things.

(22) He is Allāh, other than whom there is no deity, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed.[1657] He is the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. The Quran is not offensive to most people but the behaviour of people who follow it can be offensive to many - like when they tell you your not allowed to have a lifestyle that is different from theirs or that your a God hater because you follow a different tradition. The real problem is that most non Muslims they just Islamic teachings by the wrong actions of Muslims who don’t understand islam, or by crimes done by someone people calling themselves Muslims while they have nothing to do with Islam and they’re just lying, or by misunderstanding the concept of some Islamic teachings when they are applied for certain situations.
I didn’t really understand what you want to say by “self-curtailing personal behaviors “, but I can assure you that all Islamic teachings leads to get us to always correct ourselves, meaning each of us has to look at himself always what he is doing/done, sayin/ said and what he is about to do or say if it’s appropriate and right or not. Islam never teaches us to judge others or to say that you or this person by name is going to heavens or to hell, not at all, Islam only gives us signs and behaviors that if it exists in a person and that person dies on it he is going to hell, but if he repent before dying and switch to good and right behaviors he will go to heavens. Meaning only Allaah the almighty himself can tell a person if he is forgiven or not.

Im not a Muslim but my friend said when he was Muslim he tried extremely hard to obey the teachings but failed miserably because he never found a way to obey in his Islamic tradition, he only knew that he was supposed to obey. Lets read what you said here deeply, first of all you agree that it’s him who didn’t find the way, meaning he was following something wrong and was looking in the wrong place. Second, he tried Extremely hard, while Allaah the almighty never ask us to try extremely hard, rather he teaches us to do what we can, and the last messenger of Allaah teaches us through his actions to always choose the easiest thing once we have to choose between two things, and Islam teaches us to learn on our peace and not to try to do everything at once, the messenger of Allaah teaches us to learn as easy as we can and to never keep challenging the teachings of Islam to do it all at once, so that person had wrong methods of learning and practicing Islam. Third part, you said Islamic tradition, and Islam is a religion with clear simple teachings it is not a tradition, meaning he was trying hard to follow the tradition of his family and society not to follow Islam, he was taking the teachings from the tradition which is far from Islam. So, he never tried to seek the knowledge of Islam and look for scholars who will give him the tru teachings of Islam, he was believing in his tradition not in Islam, Islam has only small part within his society as well his society wasn’t following Islam properly to teach it to him the proper way, but as a grown man he has his brain to use to look for the correct understanding of Islam but he didn’t do that, rather he choose to give up on everything and to find what will pleases him.

Good deeds is not what makes us go to heavens but only his mercy does, but Allaah the almighty wants us to take care of earth and not to destroy it, the more the person doing good the more their hearts gets cleaned and cleared, and most importantly of a person is that their heart is filled with mercy, good, love of good to everyone, patience, humbleness, that’s the result of following Islamic teachings. And forgiving can’t be for people who believes in God but are killing innocent people and spreading hurtful things and destroying the earth, believing in God doesn’t give permission to anyone to harm anyone then call themselves they’re god’s children while they don’t even care about the good on earth.

Quran is divine from Allaah the almighty, it’s 100% all words of Allaah the almighty directly to the last messenger of Allaah Muhammad salla Allaah aleih wa sallam through the angel of divine Gibra’el (Gabriel).
When the last messenger of Allaah Muhammad salla Allaah aleih wa sallam received the divine of Quran he was illiterate, never in his life had he read or study anything, he knew nothing about reading letters, so it was impossible for him to read Christian books and make up something out of it, he received the divine of Quran by listening to the angel Gibra’el who was teaching him Quran by helping him memorizing it. So he was just memorizing and getting the meanings of it from Gibra’el then recite it to his companions.
