Because science has a proven track record.
Science has a history of being accurate.

And it's not gospel. Science can be mistaken, and it will be amended over time as new information becomes available.

As for your example of a core of the earth, MountainTop, I'm happy to accept that a core of the earth exists because it doesn't influence my life otherwise, and because it stands to reason that there's /something/ at the centre of the planet. A basic understanding of gravity would tell you that a hollow earth would collapse on itself.
Whether the scientific claims of exactly what that core material is are accurate or not, a 'core' of some description is perfectly reasonable to accept.

It's trying to. But the helium is lighter than the air surrounding the balloon, so the surrounding air is pulled down while the helium balloon moves up. The same reason some things float in water and others sink.

Gravity forces all things towards one another. Nature detests a vacuum, it doesn't just... rip every collection of mass apart. But things /do/ escape Earth. Helium, coincidentally is a good example. It's light enough to escape Earths atmosphere once released.

For balloons, it's very simple. W = m × g, where m is mass, and g is acceleration due to gravity (9.81 m/s²). Now, weight is a product of these 2 components. The mass of the Ballon is very insignificant, and the mass of helium is lighter than the mass of air. Because their mass is lighter than air, they displace air, causing them to float. It's the same reason why objects float in water.

Sometimes scientists lie and so we have a peer review process to weed that out as much as possible. That's pretty much all there is to it.

There are a lot of assumptions in scientific models but they aren't "beliefs." No one would fly a plane into a skyscraper if it was found that objects actually accelerate towards the earth at a rate of 9.7 meters per second per second, for example. They would simply update the textbooks with the new information.

The point of the peer review process is so that no one has to know everything in order to get anything done. You use other people's results until they no longer work. And while it is often helpful to understand them it is reductionism to take the time to run all the experiments yourself. Especially if no one will pay you for your time. If you want to say we've never been to the core of the earth therefore we can't know it is there, fine, but I. The end it doesn't matter if it is there or not. As long as our models for how the earth gravity works continie to accurately model how planes and satellites stay in the sky, that's pretty much all we use it for.

And that's ultimately the point. What do we use the information for? You can think it is faith based all you'd like. That's really up to you, but if the machines we make end up working in real life then no one will care if you point out that the guy who made the plane is according to a model for gravity due to a planet's core he never saw with his own eyes. The fact remains that it still works and that was the sole purpose of the science. It is a venture in practicality, not philosophy. Whatever else faith is, possessing a litany of practical applications it is not.

My guess is because some overly hostile atheists tried to mock you as weak for needing faith to cope with the harsh reality that is just reality. in my opinion they were wrong, it's not a weakness: the fact that time will go on without each of us in turn should please no one and wanting a way to stick around is absolutely understandable. So, simply believing that you will circumvents the problem neatly.

The problem is when you don't quite believe it to the point where you feel like other people must contribute to confirming it for you. If your faith was absolute you would never need to bring up religion again because you would absolutely believe it is out of your hands and as long as you live according to the teachings of your savior you would absolutely have eternal life. And that would be that. But the tiniest bit of insecurity in your faith is how you come to expect others to make you feel better. And when you discover that isn't our obligation you turn to wanting to force us through legislation or, failing that, violence - not because you are convinced you are right but because you are not convinced you are right. No one would have a problem with Christians if they were truly christlike. But I get it: death is scary and you aren't going to get consolation from anything else. This is ultimately the problem with religion. It is an imaginary crutch for a real problem that we are only aware of because we imagined it - which is why an imaginary crutch can be effective. But give it to someone too early and they may never learn to walk without it.

The scientific community doesn't behave this way. There is no opportunity to be a hypocrite because there is no particular way we tell each other to live. It's just the eternal question "what did you learn?" Nothing more.

Seismic waves move at different speeds through different substances. With enough seismometers around the planet (USGS) you can measure the speed of waves during earthquakes and determine that an inner and outer core exists.

You can also model the Earth's interior on a powerful enough Super Computer and determine that an inner and outer core exist.

Because the water is closer to the surface than to the center 🤦🏾‍♂️ Think of it like this. The Earth, being a sphere has a centre. The centre is extremely hot, which is why lava exists. Lava is nothing but molten metals, so we know there is some form of metal that exists in the center of the sphere we call Earth.

Side note. If science is not real as you say, how are we able to have technology? How can we treat people with modern medicine? How do you explain our knowledge of different chemical compounds, and our ability to use them to create pharmaceutical drugs for different uses. Why do we excercise? How can we measure anything?
