In the bible it says that a woman will give birth to a son that will rule nations with a rod of iron and the dragon will seek war against this woman because her son keeps the commandments and has the testimony of Jesus Christ. Do you think this is actually talking about a woman that will give birth to a son? Or is it a metaphor for something?

If you are where I think you are in Revelation 5 then yes. If you are in some Gnostic text like Apocrypha no.

It is supposed to ring defeating death in resurrection to Bethlehem birth (Micah 5)(Isaiah 7:14) to sinless New Testamentlife of Jesus all the way back to the Genesis 3:15 when this was predicted…that this child of a woman in pain would crush the head of Satan via death resurrection on the Cross.

Read Genesis 3:15 FOR SURE and the other verses too.

Isa 53-it’s pretty brutal but accurate prophecy and can be confirmed in New Testament.

That’s gobbledegook. Don’t make assertions that you can not explain. Prove it. What are you saying. Explain how you arrived at that conclusion. And, why anyone would believe what you are saying.. or even take it serious because you feel that it is true because you uttered it. EXPLAIN yourself evidentiary. You made the claim.

No thanks. I didn't say that Revelations was a metaphor; I said I think it is. I am entitled to my opinion. If you don't like it then you don't have to ascribe yourself to it. Seriously, just because someone has an opinion different from yours doesn't mean that they have to come up with a 25 page research paper explaining their opinion. So there is no metaphorical parts of scripture? Don't look at Psalms or any of Jesus's many parables? Many theologians debate what parts of the Bible are literal and what parts are metaphorical. Plus it is not for you to judge my soul; or are you implying your own divinity?

Metaphor by definition is a figure of speech. This is why I asked her to explain herself… If she means there’s great deal of imagery that connects the OT, prophets with the NT and Jesus’ Second Coming…She had opportunity to do so❓❓

The connection was the exact reason I provided you those verses so that you can link Rev 12:5 all the way back to Genesis 3:15 with prophets and psalms in between. Revelation is a literal book with images that are designed for OT YHWH followers and Messianic Jews to recognize. Knowing the culture of that age is helpful too. We tend to place Modern viewpoint and lingual connotation over the actual language and time period it is written. This approach is a wrong-headed hermeneutic and leads to a figurative rather than literal Jesus’ 2nd Coming.

I’m used to Bible words SO if literal is not used by default it’s metaphorical or figurative. Sounds like a language confusion.
FYI, I didn’t spend 15 hours in undergrad studying Hebrew and Greek not to have a pretty good hold on the Septuagint and Torah as well as associated cultures. I get to “live it out” in my corporate job and as a small-time landlord. Brought 2 Buddhist (Taiwan and Thailand), 1 Muslim (Bengali) to saving faith. It’s super helpful that I attend a church with a seminary that has ties with Moodys and Masters College. Al Mohler drops by once a year and preaches up a whirlwind.
--I ran into one girl on here Daniella or something like that the was using Jazher as underpinning to half demon/half humans in OT.-Nephillum. She was using the Apocrypha which means she’s probably Gnostic or way mislead Catholic. She wouldn’t give me Gospel and would not take a position on Jesus as Savior and Lord. Also wouldn’t address Son of Man, Son of God, or God-man.
—I’m pretty sure she believes that the body is impure…spirit is only pure thing and with Gnosis the“saved” will leave body and head up to spiritual land. In others words, the body is not glorified with God…just the spirit of man.-And, that’s a False Teacher…. Anyway, that was a wild one🙃.
