Muslims and Jews CAN marry outside the faith. It's just not something they are encouraged to do.

"... is a sin" Like all religious matters, that's also someone's opinion, which the couple is free to ignore. Although people strongly assert that this behavior or that behavior is a sin, other people may disagree.
