Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yI suppose it depends on the person.
I personally hate singing, especially doing 15 minutes or more at a time... I'm not good at it. And, most of the songs sound like a lot of butt kissing - and I really hate being expected to sing loudly about the pure, perfect, never ending love of Jesus/God/the Holy Spirit, when I don't always feel so loved or appreciated. When I had a hell of a bad week - lost power, friend died, parent is battling something severe, or just died, had a lot of failures at work, dealing with sickness, etc. There are plenty of times in the bible where major people had to kind of duke it out with God, and this is a part we avoid talking about. Sometimes it seems like we have to be just reassuring ourselves.
Of course, there may be plenty of people in the audience who DON'T have a lot of trials, for some reason. People who are blessed beyond measure. Always had a good steady job, great friends, no abuse, never really had much true struggle. Maybe they're singing the loudest. Maybe they have reason to believe it. But I wonder.
Another thing I hate is how much the pastors talk about "We're going to start worshipping" at the end of the service, or after prayer at the beginning. What have I been listening to for the last 45 minutes to an hour? Like it seems like they dismiss the praying and the sermon, and maybe the Baptisms or Communions as "not REALLY worship," when... to me, it's ALL worship.10 Reply

Excusing yourself from the game, you start listening. It's little Timmy Johnson from Akron, Ohio; always nice to hear from him. What's up, Timmy?
"Hail, Mary"
"Howdy!"
"Full of grace"
"Why, thank you!"
"The lord is with thee"
"Well, actually, He's putting in a new water slide, but- oh, you meant metaphorically! "
" Blessed art thou among women"
" It's hard not to feel blessed, up here!"
"And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus"
"Yeah, my Boy really is something, isn't He? "
" Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our deatho Amen"
" You got it! Have a good one, Timmy. Okay, was it my-"
" Hail, Mary"
" Oops! Sounds like Timmy forgot something. "
" Full of grace"
" Right, like before"
" The lord is with thee"
... and so on. Nuns get very angry when you tell them this, but praying the Rosary is essentially trying to coerce God into doing your bidding via Shockholm syndrome.
It's the same with singing hymns for intervention. Let them drive and inspire you, by all means, but don't count on God hearing "Let there be peace on Earth" and saying "Of course! Why didn't I think of that?".23 Reply- +1 y
Glad you enjoyed! The priests would usually smile, but like I said, the nuns got mad. Catholic school was a trip when I was around.
They can be pleasing to the ear and a source of comfort. A couple of popular ones have the opposite effect and sound like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Your bills won't be magically paid, your health problems won't be magically cured, your husband won't magically stop drinking. I've known two people who devoted their lives to Christian media and they ended up with nothing. They drove their family and friends away with their incessant babbling about Jesus and ended up alone.
10 Replymost religious music contradicts their own holy books, so no. they don't know what "worship" really is. The Book of Isaiah states that God hates their solemn assemblies. Singing is not 'worship'.
"Obedience is greater than Sacrifice."10 ReplyIt's a choice. And it's your choice you get out of it what you want to get out of it you hear and feel each word and sound the way you want if you can feel it then you can become it

+1 yall if any positive improvements do not come from the fact that you're singing "religious hymns". it comes from placebo effect or the effect that singing and positive emotions have.

And positive psychology is positive physically. Like laughing is the best medicine.10 Reply

+1 yI think it depends on the hymns. Most of the hymns they made us sing when I was a kid were just awful and depressing.

To earn Gods blessing there are 3 things that I have noticed in my life.
1) Repentance, true and meaningful repentance. He can heal you of your pain as he did for me after a sudden incident I was aching in pain and in 10 mins of apologizing and pleading I no longer felt the injury. HE prevented my brain from relaying the pain from the nerves in my leg. I was in bliss.
2) Giving to the homeless or to his Church. It comes back around, an example: the other day as I was leaving Panda Express I gave a homeless man my last $7 I had for the week and a cigarette. The following day I went to Wendy’s for food after my 12hr shift. My order was 12.97 but I only paid 5 and some change out of my $20. The car infront paid for me and then I for the person behind me. The difference between what I paid and should have spent was approx $7, the same amount for which I had given to someone that was in need.
Gods spirit takes action every day in everyone’s life and they act in ways that they normally wouldn’t because God takes control in that moment.
And 3) True belief in the LORD. With not only your brain but in your heart aswell. You can praise him through songs, or hymns, you pray to him but I suggest not doing so that is demanding of worldly desires but assistance to help you be guided to where you’d like to be in life.
