Strangely, yes I know lots of Jewish people. They are all mostly really nice people with one possible exception… That Jew-bitch I see in my mirror every morning! She taunts me every day, pointing out my every flaw! She’s the bitch who always says “is that a zit? Ewww, it’s right on your cheek! Wow, and with just a week until prom! Yeah, you’re gonna look ugly, and everyone is gonna laugh at you! Maybe you shouldn’t go, in fact you shouldn’t go anywhere… EVER!” But other than her (I think he name is self esteem) I can’t think of a Jewish person I know that I don’t love dearly… Especially my mom!
My paternal grandmother was Jewish.
My great-grandmother was a Jew from Ukraine and her husband was from Russia or at least lived there for a time
It's funny how "unusual" being partially Jewish is though. The town I live in is over 90% white (presumably Anglo-saxon at large) and when I mentioned this to one of my co-workers, he said: "huh. I've never met a Jewish person before."
I LMAO'd but other coworkers were in the same boat as he. Small town life can be a culture shock for city mice.
I know a few Jews. My dad was from a Jewish family but he was pretty anti-religious and insisted on my bro and I not being subjected to any religious indoctrination. He said religion is the greatest cause of hate known to man, we are hating each other over stupid shit we know nothing about. He was right. I'm not religious, wasn't raised religious. If my dad being a Jew makes me a Jew then I guess I'm a Jew, too. Not sure if I'm actually a Jew by blood, though (like actually descended from the 12 tribes of Israel)
No, your father being JewISH does necessarily not make you JewISH. In Judaism, ones Jewish (ness) is passed from the mother. However, if you were raised Jewish, had a moyle perform your circumcision, attended shul, and had a Bar mitzvah, or simply converted to Judaism, then yes you would be Jewish. FYI: I capitalized the (ISH) the first two times because while WE may call ourselves Jews, ever since WWII, it is considered insulting when Gentiles refer to us merely as “Jews”. Obviously you were not aware of this. I sincerely hope, that my attempt to educate you was not taken in any other way than it was intended… merely a polite attempt to educate. by the way, like your father, I too am non-religeous. Take care, and the best wishes to you. Laura. 😘
@CrazyGirl2 I was aware of it already, but I am not bothered by your attempt to educate. Us JewISHes need to stick together haha
I don’t understand how you could be so rude to someone who was clearly being so polite to you? Now you want to follow me? Why, so you can be mean and dismissive to my other answers? I did not deserve this!
@CrazyGirl2 How was I rude?
"I am not bothered by your attempt to educate."
this part was kinda unnecessary. makes it seem like you feel like she was condescending to you somehow...
@Still-alive she said "Obviously you were not aware of this. I sincerely hope, that my attempt to educate you was not taken in any other way than it was intended… merely a polite attempt to educate" and I was just saying that it was not taken the wrong way
@CrazyGirl2 I was not trying to be rude, you are misinterpreting what I wrote
To answer your question, “how was I rude”, Several things.
1) “I was aware of it already” makes it seem like you knew calling us “Jews” was insulting but just did not care
2) “but I am not bothered by your attempt to educate” As @Still-alive mentioned, is rude because it makes it appear as though you thought me trying to help you by teaching you how Judaism is inherited from parent to child was me being condescending.
3) Finally, “Us JewISHes need to stick together haha” Is as rude as it gets… as I mentioned you are NOT Jewish, and if your father IS Jewish, then you would KNOW that you were NOT! Yet you mocked my illustrative use of “ISH” when I pointed out how insulting it is for non-Jews to call us just “Jews”. It is no different to a white man writing “Us (N-words) need to stick together”
Also, you finishing it with “HaHa” makes it appear that this is all a big joke to you.
P. S. I can see you have been posting additional replies, but as I was writing this, I am unable to see any of your replies without erasing what I’ve already written.
@CrazyGirl2 the JewISHes thing was supposed to be funny but the humor was lost on you. My last name is considered Jewish. I have experienced anti semitic discrimination because of it and have had to threaten people with extreme violence on more than one occasion to make them stop. My friends consider me Jewish but they know nothing about the whole thing. I can call myself a Jew if I want. Sorry you were offended. Try not to be so sensitive and have a good one.
I know many, many Jewish people of varying levels of devoutness. I also worked with hisidics for a long time. Learned a lot about their beliefs and culture along the way. Largely misunderstood people.
How do you feel about all the anti-semitism and such?
It's disgusting the level it's gotten to. Sometimes I think jews take their response to it a little too far which hurts their message.
They're being harmed by people who actually want to shoot up schools or force Israel to make impossible decisions and then they'll be like "And here's a mean joke on instagram about jews being cheap!"
They just do horrible pr for themselves, not that they should have to do anything in the first place.
But antisemitism is getting out of control for sure and it's a very difficult issue to tackle.

Yes. In fact my aunt by marriage and her family are Polish Jews. They lived under the Nazi German occupation and then for a time under Soviet occupation until they were able to escape to the United States in the mid-1950s.
The interesting part is that another aunt by marriage is native German. She and her family also lived first under the Nazis and then in communist East Germany until they escaped in the late 1950s. First to Canada and then to the United States.
Happily, both aunts get along quite well.
I have quite a few Jewish friends, and my young cousins were raised Jewish, despite my side of the family being gentiles. I got to be a part of both of their bat mitzvahs, I went up and read some passages from the Torah (in English, I don’t speak Hebrew). That was very special to me, despite not being religious, let alone Jewish, because it was important to them, and they’re the closest I’ll probably ever have to having daughters myself. I rock with the Js as a general rule. As religious people go, I can safely say they’ve never knocked on my door trying to give me a pamphlet, so they’re cool with me😂
Yes, I used to personally attend my local Messianic synagogue with the highest proportion of Jews. I also befriended (non-Messianic) Jews back in university, a professor & a fellow-student. In a workplace, I also recognized a Jewish colleague by his name: Cohen, from the Hebrew כהן ("kohen"; "koh-HEN"; n.「priest」), though his name's commonly-used pronunciation as "cone" surprised me. That's here in the U. S.
Now, back in the Philippines, you could probably live your life without meeting any Jews, since there are so few of them, after most left for Israel at its founding.
I had a coworker who was Jewish at my last job. It’s funny because even though she was Jewish, she would plan the secret Santa and Christmas activities every year haha
I’m sure there are other people who are Jewish in my life, but I don’t really talk about religion much so it just hasn’t come up
Yes, I met a Jewish woman in 2010. I went to her house do an interview for a school assignment.
So far she's the only Jewish person that I've ever met.
My mom's grandmother and her great grandmother on my grandpa (her dad side of the family). Her side is technically Jewish. And yes I know about 4 Jewish people and my neighbor is Jewish so yeah.
My favorite professor ever is Jewish. We would talk about everything from deep subjects to jokes and everything else. I knew him for a short time but he was almost like a father to me.
In my first Elementary school, I knew 2 Jewish brothers and another Jewish boy.
Yeah, some guy who goes to my gym, really nice guy and seems to know everyone.
I haven't seen him for ages though.
Some of my cousins. One's married to a nice man from a Muslim country (I don't think either are very religious).
''Know'' is a bit much to say.
But I'm in loose contact with two.
I would not say that they're ''hardcore'' Jewish.
I have never met a Jewish person. Or if I have, I don’t know that they’re Jewish.
I’m Jewish and I know lots and lots of Jewish people.
Not orthodox. They usually stick to their own communities.
