Because most mythologies rely on the indoctrination of children, when they are still too young to have developed reasoning skills and to have the knowledge to make appropriate decisions on storybooks. This vast manipulation of children is accepted in most societies, and so there’s no consequence to stop people from doing so. As well, mythologies tend to use scare tactics that keep people too nervous to question or act out (e. g., God’s famous declaration: “Love me or I’ll torture you.”). This means adults are too worried to question their beliefs, and will try to make their children just as scared as them out of “love”. A lot of places in the world still have poor education as well, which means people are more likely to be convinced of mythological tales and fantasies.


If you want a good comparison, take the known tactics of abusive people, and place them side by side with common deities. Or look at how Kim Jong Un acts and compare it. You’ll find more similarities than most people realize.

High numbers of atheists, like high numbers of thieves, are a sign of malady in a society. They have nothing to offer arts, culture, faith or social cohesion, and tend to be more divisive as they are subjective and selfish at heart.

Even the lowest faith religious follower must submit to some selfless act or behaviour The atheist has nothing and will be a thief or chameleon until caught and exposed. But even then will try and guilt trip, or throw others to soften his fall.

It's why the USA is more fucked by the non religious than by the religious.

1. There are differences between Zeus and God. Christian religion is something that does have a documented historical basis.

2. Decisions about religion, for most Christians, are primarily an emotional decision, not a logical decision. Yes, if you ask me for proof to support the major beliefs of Christianity, I could not "prove" them in a compelling and logical way. That is why it is called "faith."

3. Non-believers usually make their decision on the basis of some logical rationale. If that is what you want to believe, I won't attack you for your belief. However, isn't it a bit arrogant to believe that you have found the truth and anyone who doesn't agree with you is stupid?

Because that is how cults work. Indoctrinate people when they are young so they are brainwashed. Then people cling to it as an adult to cope with reality. It's hard for someone brought up in a cult and taught to think a certain way to take a step back and look at it logically.
