Does God help you obey His laws?

I find that instead of trying to control bad thoughts, God wipes them away with His spirit. So obedience is a gift from God and not a result of hard work and the obedient should not look down on the disobedient.

I was raised atheist, and never once has a god guided me. God could be real, I suppose, but I still wouldn't live my life for him. I think restricting yourself and sacrificing your happiness now to have a supposed happy ending is so... unpleasant. That's not how I want to live my life. Say, hypothetically, there is hell; it sucks for my dead self. Haha, I don't have any stress about it. IF I get there, I will overcome that hill, more like a straight plunge. I don't hate religion or religious people for being religious; I think if used right can create good somewhat.

I believe it is our choice to follow his rules. He gave us free will. It is not very easy to obey all rules as people fall into things and it's hard quitting but with enough willpower one can change.

No, God told us the rules (there are 10 of them) and gave us humans intelligence and free will. We decide to follow the rules or not, and accept the consequences.

It's absolutely amazing how many times I've heard the religious say that religion is what keeps people from murdering, raping, stealing, and general havoc in general. Essentially, what they are saying is that the only thing keeping them from doing those things is their belief in their invisible friend. They're just saying what horrible people they are what horrible people others are. Like you, I don't have any belief in any gods and yet I've never murdered or raped anyone.

Actually what they are saying is that without the promise of a reward or the threat of punishment, that they would be doing those things.

Like with nearly everything involving religion, the people that believe it really don't put much thought into what they say.
