Would you - obey God's law and break human laws , or break Gods law and obey man-made laws?

God commands us as Christians to obey the laws of the government.
However if the laws of the government contradict God's laws then it's God's law I will choose.
At the end of the day God is God and human is just a human that will die one day.
Romans 13: 1-7:
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities.
For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority?
Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good.
But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.
Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake.
For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing.
Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
This one is very difficult to answer when you don't follow a traditional religion. But yes, i would put my own values above the law as anyone who would not agree with that is evil in my eyes. Luckily for me these values are highly compatible in a free society although they could get me in trouble in an oppressive one. I highly advocate for individualistic harmony and freedom. And i will always put freedom, love and positivity over any existing law. Because if a law conflicts with these 3 core motives of what i believe to be important in life i have no reason to obey by it.
Oh really? Is losing your freedom reason to obey a law? If it is in conflict with one of your three core reasons and not obeying it means they lock you up would that be a reason to obey that law? You seem like the type to value your freedom I’m just wondering if you do?
there is only human laws for me. So yes, i would brake them if i find them irrational or something.
I am also human and have a brain and can put my own laws.
God's laws are man-made laws too, someone had to tell/write them.
I would follow human laws always, but I'm a law student, makes sense I would follow them
God.. We aren't on this earth very long. We could die any minute. Life is unexpected and very short.
@ebbyebb- I think her belief In God is her explanation
Both laws work together, God’s law are not against human law

Neither, I do what I think to be right
Imagine if everyone did what was "Right" in their own eyes since truth and right is relative and not absolute.
Truth and Right considered relative and not absolute nowadays.
@Hispanic-Cool-Guy it's not absolute, it can be absolute to an objective standard, I for example think that most everyone thinks of morality in relation to harm, and there are things that objectively cause harm which I think we should refrain from.
You on the other hand just care what the big boss says, regardless of harm.
Paul says in the New Testament to obey even worldly authority to keep the peace. Jesus also told the Hebrew rebels to "give to Caesar what is Caesar's" when they wanted to rebel against paying taxes. So have spiritual laws we're supposed to maintain, but we still have to follow the 'law of the land.'
Human laws, 100%. I would like to believe that god and a higher power exists but there's really no proof of it, meanwhile man's discovers aka science has proved everything, I trust man's laws more than gods
I will not at all be punished iif i dont follow god's teachings as i m not a Christian/ muslim
So, by my choice, i choose an intermediate path
Our religion gives us complete freedom with few restrictions (having moral reasons) to practice anything of our choice
Our religion= its not a religion and i dont know what it is as it has not been defined!
Religion is a concept coming from western and European countries.
I called it 'our religion' for your convenience!
So, you can say, I don't have any religion.
But I accept that "Humanity is the best religion"
But apart from humanity, I don't have any religion.
Please explain how religion gives us freedom to practice anything of our choice? And I disagree about you being punished by God we’re not following his teachings, I believe you will be punished you just won’t realize it because as you said you are not a practicing Christian or Muslim.
And also what is this intermediate path you have chosen?
Religion has been defined more generally since the beginning of time. It is a set of beliefs about our existence usually surrounding believe in a deity or creator and the nature of our existence overall.
@jimmijo1954 our religious thinkings are far more different
We are not believers, we are truth seekers
And yes, our religion (explained above) doesn't force us to read a single book
And our books and religious scriptures say that God is loving and doesn't punish us!
He teaches us. If i do evil, i will have to pay for it (no money) but not in the form of severe punishment. thecstandard problem of evil doesn't exist in our religion.
Even, if I tell you my path, from your replies, it's clear that you don't want to come out of nutshell and think in an unbaised way
So, I'll not tell
Our religion says that God is one and ways to reach them are different, and there are verses in our sacred books that tell us that we can worship God in the name of our choice.. According to our religious books i can call it Allah, God, Yahowa, etc..
I will not be punished According our sacred books if i call him Allah God or anything!
I won't be punished if i dont follow path of according to our sacred books
The problem is, people ignore our religion, so i fear to tell , also becoz of your strong beliefs like Bible is the only way and the fear of God kind of stuff
I can perform any Islamic or Christian ritual or anything like that without causing any harm to my own (so called) religion
No I have not ignored your religion. I have asked you questions about it so clearly I am not ignoring it
I am very open-minded about your religion and all religion so I don’t know why you fear to tell me more about yours
@jimmijo1954 well, i m still doing research over drawbacks of our so called religion, so i won't tell you until i read it all. I compare religious teachings as i want to know who i morally stronger. So, please dont get me started..
Of course you are open minded otherwise you would not have asked me, but the problem is when you're taught to follow only one book and worship only one God, then you subconsciously start ignoring all others..
I m not against monotheism , my so called religion is also monotheistic
There is no contradiction, because there are no "God's Laws". "God's Laws" are religious laws transcribed by men who believe that they are documenting the will of God. Thus, "God's Laws" are just another set of man's laws. However, they don't, per se, have any legal effect. Laws issued by authorities are the laws that are actually enforced. Such laws may be based on "God's Laws", but then there'd be no contradiction then, would there be?
Gods laws are understood by men in the form of scientific theories. God does not make laws about human behavior. Men make laws and then claim they came from God. I don't know whether the self-proclaimed prophets believe their laws actually came from God or whether they know they are lying but pretend to gain control over others.
obey my laws, respect the society i live in's laws to a degree, and although technically respecting "god's laws" because australian law is based of christian ethos, couldn't care less to follow religion's "laws"
But the question was not about religion’s laws it was about God’s law
So you are saying that you don’t follow either God’s laws or the laws of the land you said you Obey “my laws”? So your answer is actually neither.
maybe reread without trying to spin the meaning.
you assume "god" exists, and therefore refer to "his" law. i don't and therefore refer to it as the law of religions. that said, australian law is built off the back of christian customs, so to that degree when i abide by societys law i abide by those particular religious laws.
i respect most of the laws of the community i live in as it is polite and constructive to do so. society relies on everyone behaving as agreed by the majority. but for example i don't agree that weed should be illegal. i have stolen before. i would kill if it was required, though it would be a last resort.
so i abide by my laws; the laws i agree with, that govern my way of living. because at the end of the day you should be true to yourself and do what you can live with.
Just one correction I don’t assume God exists I know God exists so it is not his law it is God’s law
I do not think of this as a debate, to me this is a way of seeking information by discussing people with different backgrounds and beliefs what or who is God to them. So I am not disagreeing with anything that you have said I am only trying to understand better what you believe. And really who can disagree with someone beliefs are you can know is what you believe to be the truth if someone else believes something else is the truth I can only have a different belief, I cannot disagree with them. I don’t know why you are scared enough of what I might sayThat you would lose interest in a discussion.
whatever you i say, your response will be "God exists, therefore Gods Law".
i'm not afraid of your beleif, its simply redundant to go around in circles over semantics.
the answer to your question is i do not beleive in your god, and do not follow his laws except where they are reinforced by the christian based society's laws, and i agree with the premise.
This is purely theoretical as I can not see a set of laws that violate my religious beliefs in the US. If the two sets of laws were incomparable, I would have to stay within the laws of my gods, as eternity is much more important then the mundane.
I've found that both were written by fools whom shape the world to aid their gain, meet their standards and follow their biased moral code.
give an example, I don't understand this. Especially when in the old testament said we have to obey the laws of the land, so going against the laws of the land is going against the laws of God.
gods laws = human laws, since humans wrote the bible... duh.
however "gods laws" are pretty outdated, since by "gods laws" we refer to a book based on 2000 year old stories.
When exactly would these contradict? I think this is mostly a hypothetical situation meant to provoke sometimes sense of faith rather than a dilemma you'd face in real life.
That is an interesting way of looking at it I believe you might be right
If I knew God's laws to be real divine commands beyond any shadow of doubt, yes. But there's n9 way to verify that God's written word is actually that. So no, no holly book will take precedent over the laws of the land
Human laws. I'm not religious, I don't believe in it, therefore it wouldn't be a difficult choice since I follow no god.
Well, I don't believe in a God, so that only leaves one option for me. However, if the law of the land was in disagreement with my personal ethics, then MLK method it is.
Human Law if we went by religion I would of been stoned to death for 1 premarital sex and being a lesbian.
I like to say I obey the laws of God the way he sees things.
both can be really illogical but i would choose man just because it can be changed for the better but with god good luck changing his mind 😂
Religion often contains as you said a moral code for the conduct of human affairs.
If you ask about the current man-made laws (and not some hypothetical, i. e. unethical laws), I would stick with man-made laws.
I obey nobody's so called "laws" except my own and the laws the government has in place
You make no sense. You say you don't obey no one laws except the government has in place. Well guess what, humans put those laws in place and you obey them.
And I bet if a police officer or your boss tell you to obey the laws/rules of the job, you obey like a good puppy.
The law of the land doesn't accept breaking the law because if religion
God's Laws, absolutely!!! Human laws are flawed and only benefit those that create them.
@chrisbigman Do, you go around breaking human laws then?
@MysteriousDarkness Well, I've never killed or raped anybody - yet. I hope I never do. But I'm flawed just like everyone else.
Human laws, they are the laws of the land
Thanks for the MHO
Neither ! I'm above the law.
Neither. Follow moral law.
Both equally fucked up
God's law of course. Better dead, than red.
Human laws, god's laws are not important
Human laws, I think religion is a scam and a cult

Depends on the law and god.
Even God's law made by human
