What happens to consciousness when you die, does it die or continue?

There's no scientific evidence to suggest that your consciousness continues - which isn't the same thing as "proof that it doesn't" - but most people don't like the idea that death is the permanent end of them, and so they've invented religions to believe in. Earth has seen thousands of religions from cultures all over the globe - each one believing it is the one true story and path. From a scientific perspective, there's nothing to suggest that one is any more accurate or truthful than another.

The best you can do is to make up your own mind. No one alive can prove anything, and no one alive can tell you what death is like. It's all faith, and either all religions are correct because they're all just variations or interpretations of the same events, or they're all bogus. The chances that one religion is right and all others are wrong is extremely unlikely. They're all really based around setting up rules for society to live by, and comforting the living about what happens to them after they die.

some think it ceases to exist while others think you go on to another life. there is no way of knowing till you are there. i have seen plenty pass away in my field of work and i have my thoughts but prefer to keep it to myself

Explain a dream. Why is it like you are there doing and doing it? Why do people wake up tired for a dream? It will be like a dream that never ends , then after a while , it becomes as real as you think it is real here.

How do you define consciousness? The brain, and neurons around the body are what's needed to learn, to memorise, to communicate.
