Are you scared of dying/death?

Question

I am, after I went to my first funeral and saw the crematorium etc.

I’m scared with regards to suffering and the afterlife

It made me think that once I get wealthy I will give some money away. Better my community. I want to make sure to remember god everyday.

I remember being terrified as a child. Sometimes so much that I'd cry myself to sleep. But each day I'd awake to a new day. It's not that I do not fear death now. It's that one day there will be no new sunrise for me or any one of us. And there's not a damn thing any of us can do about it. There's no point in worrying about something you can't change. And as I've gotten older I've lost loved ones. While you never get to the point that you welcome death, as family and friends pass away you'll become more accepting of it.

Well, you probably should be- but don't let that fear keep you from living. If all you do is hide from death, what's the point in being alive? Now, I am a religious man, so it doesn't scare me like it does most people, but religion is a matter of faith; death is a matter of knowledge, so I'd be lying if I said the prospect didn't bother me sometimes.

Remember, too, that even if you don't have money to give to make the world a better place, you *do* have time, and making the world better will also make life more pleasant for everyone- including you.

I'm not scared because I'm an atheist, I believe there is no heaven/hell/afterlife or anything, so I know I won't be in pain.

Yep. I'm not religious, but the uncertainty of this whole afterlife thing is pretty scary to me.

Yeah, I think everyone is when they are young, but it fades as we get older. Or so I'm told.
