What is your opinion about woman becoming a pastor?
+1 yAbsolutely not. Men were always to be the priests in the Judaic system of worship by command of God in the Old Testament. See the entire chapter of Numbers 4. Additionally they had to be from the tribe of Levi. Now is it right if someone were complain if they were for example, from the tribe of Juda or Benjamin that it’s unfair they cannot be a priest because they are not from the tribe of Levi? No. God has designated roles for the sexes in worship and roles for everyone in life according to his will for them. God gave each of us talents that others don’t have to use in the service of God.
As the Apostle Paul states:
“A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. But I do not allow a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a wrongdoer.”
1 Timothy 2:11-14 NASB2020
Women can teach children, other women, lead the church choir, and be involved in various ministries so far as I can see, but they are never to be the head pastor, or even a pastor, and probably should not be leading a worship service in any respect. They have other talents and strengths that they can use to edify the body of believers that God has endowed them with, but leading a church and having spiritual authority over men is not what they are designed or called to do.
Also in the NT:
“For the body is not one part, but many. If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any less a part of the body. And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But now God has arranged the parts, each one of them in the body, just as He desired. If they were all one part, where would the body be? But now there are many parts, but one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; or again, the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, it is much truer that the parts of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary; and those parts of the body which we consider less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor, and our less presentable parts become much more presentable, whereas our more presentable parts have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that part which lacked, so that there may be no division in the body, but that the parts may have the same care for one another. And if one part of the body suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if a part is honored, all the parts rejoice with it.”
1 Corinthians 12:14-26 NASB2020
Just as the human body has many parts and need each other to function correctly as a body, so it is also in the body of Christ, that is to say in the church.
Or think of the military. If everyone wants to be infantry, who will fix the vehicles, who will treat the wounded, who will fly the planes and who will gather intelligence?
One body, many parts, all with vital functions.229 Reply- +1 y
1. Your statements about Levite priests (Cohanim) is true. But in both Judaism and Christianity a Priest is one thing, a Rabbi, Minister, etc. is another. The difference between a hereditary priestly caste (Cohanim) and a lay minister is quite distinct.
But the "Religions of the Book" (at least the 3 still known to exist) are toxically patriarchal, anyway.
I could never understand what attracted women to these religions, who wants to be part of a creed that makes them second-class based on gender? - +1 y

Women have blindly followed feminism to believe everything feminism taught them from making false accusations buying lies without evidence such as all men rape all men are bad to abortion aka murder labeled as a woman's right. What do you think could go wrong with women leading in God's Church?

@SpokenTruth And who told you that I want women to lead churches? For me, the woman who wants to lead a church needs to be very stupid to waste time with churches and stupid and meaningless beliefs. Most murderers, rapists, etc. are really men. Most current and past rapists are men. Are feminists who say most rapists are men wrong?
- +1 y
@Kumarima If you and feminist want to know who the world's most notorious mass murders are the answer is women.
The Consequences of Roe v. Wade. 63,459,781. Total abortions since 1973. Based on numbers reported by the Guttmacher Institute 1973-2017,
And there is a list of other things that feminist have tried to sweep under the rug too when it comes to the subject of rapists. How do feminist get by with their hypocrisy they glamorize it that's how.

@SpokenTruth bla bla bla. Abortion is not murder, but I won't argue with that, it's a waste of time. Do you really believe that women killed more than men, with men being the most responsible for deaths worldwide? Who makes the wars? All mass rapes are and were made by men. Men are naturally more violent than women, that's a fact.

@highly
Reread what I pasted from 1st Corinthians.
As stated, just because the big toe isn’t for example the brain does not mean it is of lower class, or is lesser than the brain. The big toe has its role as the brain does. Each functions as it is designed to function.
Same thing here with priests or ministers. Though not every man or even many are called to this role, should the men who are not leaders in the church complain also? God created them as he did the leader for a purpose.
The leader has more responsibility and will receive stricter judgment also.
Everyone wants to be the head, but no one wants to acknowledge that being the head is difficult. - +1 y
@Kumarina
Scripture never says women must be submissive to men. It says you must submit to your husband and that both sexes must submit to legit authority, which ever sex they may be both in and out of the church.
I must submit to female bosses, female police officers, the governor of my state who is a woman.
“They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be evident that they all are not of us.”

@spoken
You are exactly right in what you have said.
This is why women are not to lead in the church. They are not designed nor equipped for it.
Many do justify their abortions.
Since around the 60’s when 2nd wave feminism really took off, what has happened to the family? Look at the stats for kids raised in single mother homes, who have become the head in most of those cases as they chose to get pregnant without a father present or poorly chose a man who would not be present or even worse, selfishly divorced their husband. Women have demonstrated abject failure at being the head in the home and the only one in the home to raise children. The stats for children for single mother households is abysmal.
Likewise look at any nation lead by women. Most have ended in failure or are on their way to failure or suffered under the tenure of a woman’s leadership.
It is abundantly clear that women are not designed to lead nations and families. And what of churches? I think you are right. I can only imagine they would make a disaster of a church also. Hence why Paul says as he says and why God did not condone this from the start.
Women have a different role. It does not mean they have less value in God’s eyes, so it should be the same in the eyes of men. What it does mean is they have different functions and roles and should stick to those.
Feminism and its results are truly destructive and repulsive.
Let women be women, they do a poor job of trying to be a man.
Let the tranny men who want to be a woman be a man also. They do a poor job of being a woman. - +1 y
@Kumarina
Shall I be mad at God he made me a woman? Shall I say God has robbed me because I will never experience carrying a child for 9 months and then birthing it?
Shall I call God unjust for this?
No.
Instead I should fulfill my role, and acknowledge that as the God ordained place of women and not men.
You’d do well to acknowledge your place as not the head of the family nor the church and likewise with that of all women.
Not that I have an desire to be a woman, or carry child or give birth.
My point remains however. All have a unique roll in this world as individuals and according to their sex. God made some with the talent and aptitude to be butchers, bakers and some candle stick makers. Should the butcher be disgruntled against God he’s not a baker, or a CEO or a fireman? Maybe he should praise God for how God created him. God in his sovereignty has planed the course of all life for everyone. We are not God and these decisions are not our place to make. Wouldn’t we do well to leave God to making such decisions and be compliant with them? Where were you and I when God separated light from dark, water from land, and called forth all into existence? Who are you and I to question God and rail against his precepts? Shall we overthrow God and sit on his throne and take his place because we are not content with his decrees? Are we God or is he? I think it is wise to let him be God and to voluntarily rank ourselves under him and be subordinate in such things.
Satan himself wanted God’s throne and dominion. Shall we follow Satan and remove God from the throne of our hearts and seek to have our way? Didn’t Jesus say: “never the less they will not mine be done”? - +1 y

+1 yIn the UCC, the Pentecostal Assemblies of God (who, I was VERY sad to learn, don't leap together to form Jesus, Voltron-style), and both the Lutherans and Methodists (at least their mainline branches here in the US; anyone who claims that Orthodox Christianity is too complicated with its sect divisions ought to take a look at the OTHER side of the fence- at least we give them different names) ordain women as pastors. Probably some other sects, too, but those are all I know off the top of my head, and that's just Christianity.
If you mean in an unofficial sense, I see no problem with it whatsoever- it's not like other faiths didn't have priestesses long before even Judaism existed. However, in the modern post-pagan sense, a pastor is usually not just a religious leader and officiant, but something of a moral and social one as well. Women can of course do that too, but the skillsets and desire to hold that position, and all that burdens that come with it, are less common among women. Not nonexistent, and in some times and places not even rare (you can't really completely separate culture from religion; those borders are vague and nebulous at best), but less common. So I see no problem with women becoming pastors, but it'd be a mistake to expect half of new ordinations to be female- and mark my words, you'd see calls for that.
Men and women are different, but each of us comes from both a man and a woman, so it makes sense we'd have some of the traits of both.

+1 yMy roommate is currently in seminary school to become a Lutheran Pastor. There aren't many branches of Christianity that allow for female pastors, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. While I'm no longer part of the church, I do believe that the more accepting branches (i. e. the inclusive ones that don't say gays are going to hell, or immigrants are servants of Satan) are the branches more in-line with the intended Christian narrative of kindness, love, and forgiveness. If a church won't allow a woman to be a pastor just because she's a woman, that's not a church I want to see in my community. It's sexist, and frankly outdated and will die out with enough time as churches continue to become notorious for causing trauma in their young congregants.
15 Reply- +1 y
Well, I’m sure you’re familiar with buzzwords like “religious trauma” and “purity culture” and the psychological damage they can do. You know, with the whole requirement of being sinless to honor Christ, how you shouldn’t think bad thoughts because God can read your mind and that makes you a bad person, not to mention the church’s history of hating queer people and sheltering pedophilic priests that come into their fold. The system of the church has some pretty apparent flaws that can traumatize those who aren’t expecting them, and also drive people away from the church and religion in general.
- +1 y
Oh yeah I have heard of pedophilic priests too. We have pedophile Maulvis too but I blame the people and not the religion part.
Let me tell you I don't like to listen to lectures at our mosques as well but I have not forsaken Islam. I don't practice things besides Koran though. I don't go to Saint's or Sufi's - +1 y
Alright, I can understand that and respectfully disagree. The church, and other religious institutions, acts as a beacon for a lot of people, and with that burden of guidance and wisdom comes a responsibility to its congregants. A responsibility to make sure they are treated well, they are welcomed, and they are taken care of. Pedophiles don't help that, but they don't usually ex-communicate them, at least not when it comes to Catholics. The victims are hushed with money and the priests are moved to a different location until it happens all over again. The religious industry is one with a significant deal of influence over others, especially in religiously governed nations, there should be greater accountability and I don't really see that when you hear such stories. There's no comfort given for people that fear God hearing their thoughts because they won't deny it's true, and while more inclusive places are forming, there are still 5 more for every one of those places that abhor queerness and anything outside of a specific norm and tells them they are not only unwelcome but wrong in their existence. So that's what I mean when I talk about traumatizing the young congregants.
I'm not particularly religious, and don't call me a "bigot" for simply pointing this out, but the Bible does specifically prohibit women preaching in church. I don't recall the exact verses, but it's there in the New Testament in a couple of the letters of St. Paul.

+1 yI am absolutely not saying the following to disrespect or discourage any woman who pursues this. It is a very honorable calling. But it is specifically written in 1 Timothy 2:12:
“I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.”
Apostle Paul commanded this and he was the greatest apostle in all of the Bible. He wrote 2/3rds of the New Testament.
If you want to call apostle Paul a sexist go ahead. But this is specific Bible doctrine. Not my opinion but what is written.
09 Reply- +1 y
@Kumarima Apostle Paul wrote that at a time when there women yelling on street corners at crowds about doctrine. Hence they shouldn’t preach. But Christianity does NOT tell women to just go about their lives “putting their heads down and being quiet”. This specifically had to do with spiritual leadership but not all aspects of day to day life.
- +1 y
Also interesting fact. Do you know that the hijab/veiling women was supposed to be a Christian thing but instead it became a Muslim practice?
- +1 y
That’s true, there were female prophets and deacons even in the Bible. Which were badass as hell because they were usually called forth because the men around them were too useless 😭
When I tell people i want to be a submissive and traditional wife, they often mock me saying, “make me a sandwich!” When they have given me no reason to respect and submit to them as men. If there is a Christian man who is much wiser than me, I wouldn’t likely question or appose what he says. 🤷♀️ My boyfriend is really respectable and smarter than me, and although we’ll disagree at times I’ll know that he has final say which does not mean to dismiss my feelings or thoughts. In actuality it is a relief to me, to not hold the responsibility of being the one to make the choices. The indecisive girlfriend is a trope for a reason 😂
But yeah bottom line is women can choose who to respect and listen to. You wouldn’t follow a godless man into darkness. Although you can learn something from anyone if you practice wisdom. - +1 y
I want to clarify that I mean openly question and oppose. Even with my dad who is so smart and wise, I might ask him something about what he said. But I won’t defy him unless I did the research myself and felt it had a different meaning, and I’d say why. Most the time he just explains why I was wrong tho which is most the time 😂😂 but I love learning from him, he nearly always has a good answer to biblical question.
- +1 y
@tiajoka well said.
Whether women admit it or not the vast majority want men to lead. Being a leader means you got to make decisions and if you are wrong you suffer and take full responsibility of the consequences. It’s not always great as women think. And lately we got some so called “alpha” females who suddenly turn into victims when things don’t go their way. Great example is the now disgraced and convicted former Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes. - +1 y
My minds more of a masculine temperament, I struggle with being overbearing and aggressive, enjoying conflict and fights. Which I don’t think is bad in itself because God makes us unique with differences, I just have to be careful with it, and find a partner that balances me.
As a kid it was a lot worse, and I was on my way to becoming a little feminist. Loving rolling in the dirt, boy toys, climbing trees.
When I heard that I’d have to submit to my husband, initially I didn’t like that! I hated being treated differently for being a girl, because I always wanted to do boy stuff… showing off how strong I was, beating everyone in videogames, helping my dad do dad stuff. but when my mom told me about how he’s responsible for everything, my lazy self was like “oh that sounds awesome I hate responsiblility” 😂😂 I know there’s more nuance, but that was the bottom line for me at 8. Even then I was always a very good leader and got stuff done, but I hated working in groups and would only take on that role if everyone else refused to. Way too much pressure and extra responsibility 🤷♀️ - +1 y
@tiajoka i am glad you understand the nuance. What it really means to “submit” to your husband is to respect the position he is in. It does NOT be his slave. Jesus also did care for women just as much as he cared for men. The story about the Samaritan woman at the well was great example. Also the way he handled the Pharisees who presented him the adulterous woman.
But feminism especially feminism today seems squarely based on 1) disparaging men and 2) demanding male privileges while conveniently sidestepping male responsibilities.
Most women really do not know full extent of what an average man’s life this entails. There are some very ugly life issues men have to deal to survive in this world. First and foremost we truly not allowed to express helplessness when under extreme emotional duress.
For example If we express our vulnerable emotions (which needs to be seldom and well timed) we better damn well have some sort of resolution on how to solve a problem when it’s over. Men truly are only respected by agency in this world. That is what they CAN they provide and how they can protect their wife and family. Just existing and procreating is not enough.
Definitely not saying that women just exist to procreate and raise children. But women really do get a “you are a special just because you are female” privilege MUCH more then men do just for existing. Men are expected to be useful and to make something happen.
- +1 y
Now I know plenty of women work hard and exceed on their own merit. All the more respect to them. That’s great and respect that.
But the pressure to be something and somebody is far less optional for men. It’s a societal pressure many women just do not comprehend or even Can not comprehend. It’s one of the reasons if a man doesn’t live up the expectations that others placed on him and/or he placed on his self he can get very destructive (violent) or more commonly self destructive (drinking, drugs, high risk activities, higher suicide rates, etc.). He is expected to “man up” and succeed.

00 ReplyNo, women are not meant to lead the church as a whole. They can easily have leadership roles in other departments; but men and women are different. Biblically women have been prophets and deacons, but no to priests. There’s lots of room to have influence and make change without trying to deconstruct the natural gender roles. If you want to start a different religion then go ahead, but that’s not Christianity.

Okay. Well, to start with, Christianity is an offshoot of Judaism; kind of like Buddhism to Hinduism. Christians believe that the Messiah that the Jews are waiting for, whose arrival will be the end of the world as God comes to raise all creation to glory, WAS Jesus- that His first incarnation wasn't to end the world (obviously), but to raise awareness, clarify the situation and the desires of God, and then to die to redeem humanity for its sins.
Jesus was the son of a "tekton", or common laborer (not a high priest, as many would have expected an incarnation of God to be)- it's usually translated into English as "carpenter", but actually refers to any kind of simple manual laborer. At about age 30, He began preaching a message of universal love and brotherhood, and the importance of granting God primacy in your heart. He also claimed that He was the foretold Messiah, and performed many miracles to prove it. This worried the Jewish high priests, because they feared the mob that had begun following Him would proclaim Him king, and lead a revolt against the Romans, who ruled Judea at the time. Such a revolt would inevitably fail, and the Romans (who were tolerant of other faiths, so long as they paid their taxes and didn't make trouble) might decide to crack down and force the Jews to convert. So they brought the Romans in and had Jesus arrested; He submitted meekly and allowed Himself to be crucified, then rose from the dead two days later (they usually call it three days, but they counted things differently back then, including the day of- He died on Friday and rose on Sunday). He then met up with His disciples, proved He was alive again, and told them to go forth and spread the word, before ascending back up to Heaven. Christians await His return. - +1 y
The disciples- now called apostles- did just that, scattering to the corners of the world- well, the OLD world; the New was still unknown to them. The Romans ruled much of that world, however, and declared belief in Christianity punishable by death. Consequently, Christians had to gather in hiding, and groups couldn't really communicate with each other- this is the root of many of the theological differences that plague the faith to this day.

Okay let's pretend you are married. Now you would like for your future wife to ask you what you lien for dinner and clean home. Or do you want a wife who over spends your credit card and keeps a messy dirty home?
- +1 y
You missed the point hon. I didn't say I wouldn't like my wife cooking for me.
It's your mindset that's the problem. You have the mindset of a maid and butler, not a wife. - +1 y
But men are the head of the house hold.
- +1 y
Yes I agree and your point?
- +1 y
My point is wife should treat their husband with respect.
No. The bible says that women cannot teach religion. The churches that allow it are violating the very bible that they claim to follow.

03 Reply- +1 y
She can be an evangelize with favor from the God of the Bible, and She can be a pastor but not one with the "favor" of the God of the Bible. It is better for women to teach women according to 1 Timothy 2:12 : But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Really is senseless to make Mac and cheese and call it lasagna. People can whatever they want, but they are only lying to them selves. Acting as gods and rewriting the rules.

+1 yNo. Run from any church with a female pastor or preacher.
Any woman who is qualified to actual lead a church would understand why she shouldn't.

Every time I go into a church led by a woman, I’m instantly hit with a wheel barrel of negative spiritual energy. Even just listening to the words, it’s all a cult.
I struggle with empathy as a woman, but it’s where most women strive. They’re easy to take advantage of through that, and that’s why the women led church’s are also progressive ones because they ignore truth over the feelings of others. And a man like Adam can fall into the pressure of her false teachings.
That’s probably why some churches require that the pastor be celibate (though I disagree) just because it would be easy for a woman to manipulate her husband if she isn’t traditional. 🤷♀️ just my observance - +1 y
@tiajoka exactly. Women generally aren't capable of staying disciplined and doing what they need to do. They are quick to bend when they have an emotional reason to do so.
- +1 y
Yeah, and obviously it’s not all women and some men can do it too, but it’s a good rule of thumb to follow because it’s difficult to tell who is who.
And if a woman is disciplined and wise, she can still be a deacon or a nun and lead people through that in a meaningful way through the church. There’s nothing wrong with men and women being different. And the fact that so many people want to be a leader just because it has more power… eck. Being a priest sounds like a nightmare tbh and I respect the good ones.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yAccording to scripture, no. Being a female assuming the role as pastor is immediately putting you at odds with scripture, which does not make her a pastor at all.
