What do you think of proverbs which says those skilled in their work will serve before kings?

The way I view that verse is if you live an excellent life and use your brain, you will get high quality connections and not bad quality ones. Like I've always believed I could get an amazing husband who respects me and helps with chores and is kind and loving and sweet and nice and intelligent. My friends don't seem to think I can get an amazing relationship like that and when I tell them I expect to make more than an engineer they say I'm not being realistic. I actually expect to make more money then Avril Lavigne or Peter Gadiot, never mind, making more than an engineer.
