Religion in necessary without the idea of god there is no meaning there is no morality. We live in a society where we think murder is wrong because of religion. The very time of right comes from the idea god exist. We are endowed by our CREATOR with unalienable rights. Nature doesn’t give out right. There is not right and wrong with out the existence of god. Humans need the scam of religion in order to have any meaning at all.

I mean it makes sense, I’ve read Richard Dawkins. Aye rand and Sam Harris. None of them make any sense because they grew up in a Christian world with Christian values that they hold dear even thought they don’t believe in god. Because they grew up in the Christian world they don’t have a sense of actually looking at why we think things are good and evil. With no god there is no food or evil there just being. This is why I think the only actual intellectually consistent atheist does Marquis de Sade. French nobleman whose perverse sexual preferences and erotic writings gave rise to the term sadism. He argued because there was no God everything he did was justifiable and why not? If there is no god the only point in life is desire. Well, fortune-telling is a form of fraud. That's why it is illegal. UNLESS, as they did on The Psychic Hotline, they have a disclaimer: "For entertainment purposes only.", thus, there was no fraud involved.

That's a good question. However, the answer is that the preacher doesn't give very specific predictions of the future; just pep talks... like a football coach at half-time.

Fortune-tellers are a one-on-one experience and there's a quid pro quo involved. Going to church is not one-on-one and, while the churches may beg for cash, there's no quid pro quo.
