+1 yWhat is in your mind behind the conversation? THAT needs to be known before answering your question.
Also, how much does she have respect for her religion? Is she Muslim by practice or just by family? You either believe and follow, or you don't. There is no such thing as "moderate" Muslim. It's pretty clearly black or white.

Not sure I understand that first question but I think she's somewhat religious but not sure tbh
- +1 y
I mean, do you have a romantic interest or something else.
It's not like you will be talking with a touch sensitive time bomb ๐ you just don't need to talk about religion but be cautious not to make any "between the line" remarks also.
If you want to show respect to her, dont hug her, even better, dont even shake hands with her and say that you have heard that in proper Islamic manners, opposite genders out of do not touch each other (of course excluding spouse, parents, children or siblings).
If she is a cautious Muslim, at most she may be ok with a hand shake but gauge that from her gestures. - +1 y
Considering we are two different religions, I've realized we can be together no I guess that would've been good to know before I made this question lol
- +1 y
Ok, so.. by the true laws of Islam, a Muslim man is allowed to marry a God fearing and God serving Christian or Jewish woman. (I think "chaste" is the closest word used in Islamic Law). However, a Muslim woman is not allowed to marry a non-Muslim man.
- +1 y
Why is that tho?
- +1 y
So that the children follow the religion of the dad because women are not in a position to enforce that. As far as "chaste" goes, i think the reason is pretty obvious.
- +1 y
That makes sense

Because everyone like his own religion

Depends tho, if something crosses mine I don't think I'd be able to follow it for example, my beliefs is against having more than one wife but this is a plus for a Muslim woman isn't it?
+1 yAlright, tell me, does she wear hijab?

I don't know, she sent me a picture but it was a quick picture she sent it and deleted it and I barely got to see it cause she sent it as I was sending a message so I got a quick glance at it, from what I saw it didn't seem like She was, I see your point tho ๐ค
she goes to the mosque tho - +1 y
Well, try not to swear around her AT ALL. Don't talk about relationships. Don't talk about music. Don't ask her picture from your side especially if she is taken. You know the best thing? Just don't talk about anything to start with. Only reply to whatever she asks if you want to. There are several thousands of things which are prohibited in Islam and even I don't know everything so just don't bring up a topic or raise a question from your side to take no risk.
- +1 y
Yea I guess I'll figure it out or try and wing it, thanks lol
- +1 y
She is religious so better be careful or otherwise she'll start a controversy. This religion is so strict, I'm just glad my family isn't so religious.

Something which will cause controversy
- +1 y
Can you give an example?
- +1 y
Like, my mom and her sisters don't wear hijab unless they're praying. They're not stuck in rules and stuff for the whole day. Music is haram here, but they approved me getting the keyboard and music is like my life. Dogs are haram here but we're planning to adopt a pup after my sophomore year. Eating non veg is like a must but my mom became vegetarian. And many more.
- +1 y
Why do they have to wear the hijab? If you can explain the whole purpose of it
- +1 y
It is said that the women should wear it for modesty and it shows the passage of adulthood. It's also shows that she is from a well respected family or is married in a well respected family. By wearing hijab one can get closer to God which makes no sense to me because women are bound to go in hell according to the Qur'an.
- +1 y
That does not sound very loving, in Christianity just accepting christ as your lord and savior earns you a spot in heaven and not living a life of sin, so no repentance, no remorse, enjoy living in sin, seems kinda bias that women have to do all that, I also read that a Muslim man can marry a Christian woman but a Muslim woman can't marry a Christian man, again, seems kinda bias.
- +1 y
Yes, a Muslim guy can marry upto 4 women at once but a Muslim woman is bound to marry one guy whether she wants it or it.
- +1 y
I don't get that either tbh
- +1 y
Nor do I. So there are many many stupid rules and regulations in Islam. You know, once I was told by my religious cousin (he's few months younger than me) that I shouldn't pursue music or else I'll go in hell. I asked him, "What about One Direction then? Won't they go to hell because they are musicians? Won't you go to hell for being their fan?". He replied, "Well, they must have done some good works to outweigh their music sin". I said, "Okay, but aren't I going to hell already for being a girl?". And he couldn't answer that. So biased.
- +1 y
I didn't not know that, then why do women stay in that religion? ๐ค
- +1 y
To give birth to men. But if we ignore these rules and regulations then Islam is pretty okay and has good morals for the positive side. My family ignores these stupid regulations and that's as relief.
- +1 y
I didn't think it was like this at all, you learn something everyday I guess
- +1 y
Yes.
- +1 y
@mementomori777 So many misconceptions being spread by this girl. Islam isn't a monolith. There are sects with different beliefs.
- +1 y
Isn't it all the same religion tho?
- +1 y
@mementomori777 Not as simple as they. They all accept the five tenants but the jurisprudence differs greatly between sects. Sunnis differ depending on what scholar they follow. Sufis are a completely different group. And Shi'a don't agree with Sunnis on a lot of things. Music for example isn't Haram in Shia groups and Sufis. Only hardliner Sunnis think everything is Haram.
- +1 y
So why are they all considered the same religion and how does that work with Allah and why do they all consider themselves from the same religion, it's hard to explain what I'm trying to ask, why do they all accept each other's differences and still consider each other from the same religion because for example in Christianity you are either Christian and believe what the Bible says or you aren't, do they all have the same Quran? Cause if they all have the same then wouldn't that mean that a part of them are fake Muslims if they aren't believing or agreeing with parts of what the Quran says?
- +1 y
Like it seems like they are picking and choosing at that point and believe what they want to believe, not trying to be offensive to anybody, I'm being foreal
- +1 y
@mementomori777 As I said, they accept the main beliefs and all agree on those. Such as the belief of the one god and the prophets. The belief of the Quran and what it says. They just differ on the minor details and rulings.
Jews are the same way. The groups differ on the rulings.
Are you not aware of the hundreds of Christian sects? Baptists, Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, Russian Orthodox, Coptics, Maronites, Chaldeans, et cetera et cetera. Same concept. - +1 y
Yea but we don't consider ourselves the same, I believe catholics are demonic for example, not all of course but the big main ones, they seem to twist the word a lot, but I get what you mean bro

Well i will tell you thing we are not allowed to do based on religion
No sexual intercourse meaning kissing nor touching but that is up to her if she wants to do but make sure u ask her if she is comfortable with it before doing anything
talking bad about her religion and about Muslims etc
drinking and or smoking around her if u do any of this things make sure she is alright with you doing them around here this is just some basic thing
but it really depends on here all Muslim girls are different some do things that are forbidden in Islam and for Muslim women but they still do them like talking to guys and dating unless We are serious about the guy and want to marry with him and he with us we should not be talking to them
if u have any straight forward questions i can try to answer them as well - +1 y
