Why are people more inclined to accept astrological beliefs and horoscopes over religious doctrines from Christianity, Judaism, or Islam?

As someone who's studied the Old/New Testament, and the Quran at the university level using the historical-critical approach, it puzzles me why individuals often perceive the stars in the sky as a more credible source of guidance and wisdom, compared to the gospels which have historical and literary evidence. Why do you think this is?

Because people tend to gravitate towards whatever is simpler than them. Sort of like a reverse "Occam's razor"

It's unbelievable when you sit and listen to atheists, flat earthers, and astrologists (yes they are the same in mentality) waffle on about their "evidences" for their opinions (which is all they really have). It's no wonder these are growing groups. Not because they are "right" but because they are able to market and draw more people into their delusions.

I suppose it's why they succumb to "conspiracy" thinking, so easily as well.

Because Christianity, Judaism, and Islam tell you what to do. Whether you agree with them or not, the sets of rules they establish are QUITE thorough, and following them takes effort.

Astrology just gives you something to blame when things don't go your way.

That's a fascinating perspective, and I agree. Astrology and horoscopes, in a way, are inherently self-centered, encouraging one to see themselves as the main protagonist in their own narrative.

They arnt by the numbers there’s billions of Christian’s/Muslims. Dumb college girls are the only ones that believe that stuff. It’s an identity thing.

Personally, I don't believe in religion or astrology, but I see way, way more people claiming to be religious, than I see people who believe in astrology.

i don't think they are generally. narcissists are more drawn to astrological beliefs, cause narcissists love to learn shit about themself. cause that's what their entire life is about. themself.
