Why are people more inclined to accept astrological beliefs and horoscopes over religious doctrines from Christianity, Judaism, or Islam?

As someone who's studied the Old/New Testament, and the Quran at the university level using the historical-critical approach, it puzzles me why individuals often perceive the stars in the sky as a more credible source of guidance and wisdom, compared to the gospels which have historical and literary evidence. Why do you think this is?
