No I don´t think so because Protestantists also confess their sins they just do it to one another as the premise of protestantism is that every believer is equal there are just different offices a pastor isn´t closer more sanctified or holy than a lay person. It therefore asks more of the lay people since they are all priests in Protestantism since Protestantists believe in the priesthood of all believers.
It´s not better or worse the premise of looking at the Church is just different.

@strateguy632 He never instructed them to practice insert, pedophilia, dance with vipers, knock on people's doors threatening them with hell and harassing them if they leave the church, yet protestants do all those things

I'm with @Hispanic-Cool-Guy , confessing to a priest is not Biblical. I assume you are talking about Catholics? Here is where Catholics and Christians differ. So Christens don't need an earthly middleman, they can take it straight to the top man - Jesus Christ, as He is the only mediator between God and man. 1Timothy 2:5 - "For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus."

@MaxUsefull Do it! Only Jesus could forgive sins. I don't think the disciples could as far as I know. Now the High Priest of the Tabernacle just performed the shedding of blood ceremony still could not forgive sins because Christ had not even been born yet. They were on a sort of charge account. They were only forgiven once Jesus had risen from the dead as God's lamb.

John, chapter 20, verses 21-23 (ESV):

"Jesus said to them again, 'Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.' And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.'"

This passage indicates Jesus granting the apostles the authority to forgive sins through the Holy Spirit.
Furthermore, the Church's 2000-year-old tradition confirms that this power was passed from the apostles to the bishops and priests. Protestants can only read what they want to read

His disciples were different. They went on to write several books of the Bible. It also said nowhere that any other ones but them were gifted with this gift.

The idea that the Bible was written or decreed by the Roman Catholic Church seems strange to anyone who has read the Bible or understands the history of the church.

The church began at Pentecost, when Peter preached a sermon at Jerusalem that is recorded in part for us in Acts 2. Jesus had commanded his disciples to go and proclaim the good news of forgiven sins, reconciliation with God, and the hope of eternal life that comes through the death and resurrection of Jesus. As the disciples went, they established churches, each with their own elders or overseers. None of the churches were subject to other churches, nor were they in some denominational relationship. Rather, as with the Jewish synagogues that predated them, the local churches were a gathering of the new followers of Jesus with local elders and/or bishops overseeing their spiritual condition. Of course, in their new faith these churches naturally looked to the apostles and early leaders of the church for guidance on spiritual matters. Thus, we have Paul, Peter, John, James, and Jude writing letters to various churches, some of which are preserved in our New Testament.

Don't care if it sounds strange, what kind of argument is that? there were 3 centuries of discussions between Catholic bishops to know which books were inspired by God and which were not. Do you Protestants think the Bible parachuted down from heaven?

But Catholic priests can't get married. If they could, then they could "confess" to their wives, couldn't they?

Some Protestant groups have something similar in "the mourner's bench", where right before services are through, they come up to the front, & tell the preacher that they've backslidden. They may not confess any particular type of sin, but general backsliding. Then the preacher asks the congregation to pray for that person.

You mean an artificial intermediary between us and God’s forgiveness and grace?

The whole thing is completely silly, and I thank God I’m not a Catholic.

God alone forgives. Not man. Inserting some priest middle-man into the equation is absurd. Believing that they are necessary is even more ridiculous. Solo Christo.
