My grandmother ask me to join herto mass. I didn't want to be rude much less hurt her feelings so I went. To be honest it felt so awkward and weird after a decade not going to catholic chruch. Mind you my grandmother has hopes of me joining and coming back to catholic religion but thats not going to happen. So my grandmother told me to speak with the church leader my grandma calls priest father which is weird. The pruest got annoying because I called him Sir instead of Priest whatever. So I bought my bie with me and had a small debate with this priest individual. So this priest tells me that the catholic church is the only and truth church and all catholics are going to heaven while other none catholic people are going straight to hell. I ask the priest to show me with bible scriptures. Then I ask well if Jesus was born in Jerusalem you catholics claim Jesus established the catholic church how on earth did the vatican ended up in Italy when Jesus wasn't even born in Italy? no answer Why isn't Jerusalem the catholic capital if it was Jesus church? No answer few secounds later priest tells me well people travel from Jerusalem to Italy back them. I told the priest but people didn't even had airplanes back in the day how did they travel? Priest got so red angry and annoyed and yelled you ask way to many questions shame on you. Your going to hell. I respond I tough only God can judge me and make that decision for me. Priest got upset andntold me it's a sin to be questioning the catholic church shame on you. Wow so now it's wrong to ask questions. In my brain this men lost his marbles.

Baptist people Lutheran people Presbyterian people Christian people go to heaven if you accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and savior and you believe that he died on the cross to save you from your sons. I don’t know why he would tell you something like that that doesn’t make any sense. You need to explain this to your grandmother. Do you think the Reverend Billy Graham is in hell I don’t think so and he’s not Catholic. He’s a southern Baptist minister

Things that never happened for $500 Alex... Every Catholic Priest Isaiah 1:18.
“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
Even when the Lord condemns Israel, he calls on us to use our mental abilities to come to a rational understanding and see that he is right. It's a core doctrine of the faith to question and use logic to understand scripture and it is the obligation of the clergy to be patient and explain it...

An unexamined faith is not worth having, for fundamentalism and uncritical certitude entail the rejection of one of the great human gifts: that of free will, of the liberty to make up our own minds based on evidence and tradition and reason. -Jon Meacham

Interesting. A great catholic priest once said to me there is more faith in an old woman than I a bishop. I liked that. I'm catholic. What he was saying was the old lady didn't need knowledge to believe but the bishop was full of knowledge which corrupted him.

1 yIf he's angry with you he is not equipped to understand you and explain to you.
Jesus was very patient and explained everything to his followers.
This is where the catholic church has lost and alienated a lot of believers, even I was alienated for a long time.
But please keep in mind all priests are human too so if this guy couldn't answer your questions maybe another priest can.
Also very wise of you to come to online forum where you can get answers. But it is not easy to discern right answers from wrong unfortunately you will get a few bad eggs on here too just like your experience with the priest.
Though, dont hate the priest, pray for him to be a better priest for others.
Sometimes when I go to church I like some priests better than others because of how they explain the Bible and the message to reality.00 Reply342 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. Sounds like he's a hardliner. Going to mass doesn't make you a Christian any more than sleeping in a garage makes you a car.

I am not a catholic. I only went to please my grandma just his only one time. I have enough evidence the catholic chruch is a false religion. It destroyed families.

I've been a Christian almost 40 years. In that time I've known members and priests of many denominational backgrounds - including Roman Catholic.
The Christians among them without exception put emphasis on the personal relationship with God through Jesus. I knew one Catholic priest who was threatened with excommunication for refusing to advise his confessionals to say a "Hail Mary", and an Anglican vicar who taught me how a Rosary prayer can draw you closer to Christ.
No denomination has all the answers. Any that claim they do are deceived - often wilfully.
I know marriages and families drawn back from the edge of tearing apart by joining a Catholic church and I've seen Pentecostal churches rip marriages apart.
There's heretical doctrines in every denomination. That's because God made The Church and Mankind made the denominations. - 1 y
Catholics aren't a denomination?

Being a "Christian" for 40 years you should know catholic is the original church and is the church of St Peter and all priests are descendants of the 12 disciples.
But you are not a Christian you are a sectist who enjoys dividing people. - 1 y
Catholic means universal in Greek. Catholic is written with a small c. The catholic church is the one and only original church.
All other denominations are simply sects that deceive people and have removed large chunk of belief faith and practice from the original catholic church. - 1 y
There's a difference between "Catholic" and "catholic", numbnuts. When written with an upper case "C" it explicitly refers to the Roman Catholic Church, an abbreviation that is globally recognised in the English language.
After Constantine converted the pagan temples began to adapt to become what is now the Roman Catholic Church. The "patron saints" are nothing more than the pagan pantheon. Christ taught us to talk to Him, not Venus (Mary) or any "heavenly" substitute (the "saints") or earthly "intercessors" ("priests"). The early priests kept Greek and Latin as the language of the "church" to subjugate the masses. It took Martin Luther and the other Protesters to get the actual Gospel to the majority of people by teaching it in their own languages and printing translations in the European languages so everyone could receive Salvation. Obviously, the "church" excommunicated them - not a scriptural process in those circumstances - and the Protestant movement became a way for the people to learn the Gospel.
Find me an ACTUAL SCRIPTURE that says any of the disciples had even one child. From the Bible we can only be certain Peter was married, because Jesus healed his mother-in-law, but no children are mentioned.
Paul wrote extensively about celibacy - something the Roman Catholic Church decided all their "priests" needed to be several centuries after Christ based on Paul's writing, not Peter's. And the whole "vow of poverty" taken by monks and nuns is straight from the pagan temples in the late Roman Empire.
Your traditions will, in the day of Judgment, be shown for the chaff they are as the Great Judge says "away, I never knew you!" - 1 y
Catholic with a capital doesn't exist only catholic. Roman Catholic only delineates the western church from the eastern church.
Pagan temples never adapted to anything and don't exist today. They died out because all the pagans readily accepted Christianity.
The early priests kept Greek and Latin because they were the most widely used languages of the time and the entire world spoke them. There were also masses in both Hebrew a D Aramaic although I thought you'd know those basics.
Martin Luther was just a lost man who tried to make a short cut to Jesus same as all the other detractor church who try delete large chunks of the Bible and change it from literal to symbolic.
The church did no excommunicate them because of language but because of heresy. All churches outside the original catholic/orthodox church are heretic, non compliant and don't have ties to Christ or his disciples.
I never said the disciples had children you incompetent illiterate moron. Find me one place where I said that? Yes priests need to be celibate because they are married to the church an serve God same as Jesus and the disciples.
The rest of your post is you having some opinions that do not form fact and I find little else to debate with you. - 1 y
"catholic is the original church and is the church of St Peter and all priests are descendants of the 12 disciples." To be a "descendant" of the disciples as the Roman Catholic Church claims the disciples had to have had children.
Clearly you have never actually studied Church history and the development of the modern Christian church.
But since your name implies you're Australian that isn't a surprise.
Ever stood in St Peter's Square and the Basilica? If you manage to get there, compare the statues of the saints around St Peter's Square with the descriptions of the Forum and the pagan temples around it. Each "patron saint" has a pagan god counterpart.
The adoption of Christianity by Constantine resulted in the Council of Nicea, and the pagan priests simply adopting the rhetoric of the Christians to stay in favour with the Emperor. There wasn't a sudden mass acceptance of Christ, the evangelisation of the Roman Empire virtually halted as soon as the persecution ended. - 1 y
The catholic church claims no such thing. You are heavy duty imbecile who is convinced his dumb thoughts identify as truths. Lost boy.

You're saying that what YOU wrote about the catholic priesthood, that I quoted, along with the logical implied meaning of YOUR statement is, in fact, bullshit.
At least we agree on something.
By all means put your faith in Papa Frankie. I'll keep my Faith and Hope on Yeshua The Messiah.
