The Oxford dictionary defines religion as: “…the belief in and worship of a superhuman power or powers, especially a God or gods.“

Which, by definition, is not atheism.


Calling Atheism a religion is a misuse of semantics.

I just copy/pasted the Oxford dictionary definition, so those aren’t my own words.

I did notice that it says ‘belief in AND worship of’ so it sounds like worship is still needed for something to be considered a religion.

Otherwise, people who believe in gravity would be considered religious.

Just to be clear, I’m not an atheist — but I do think that atheism shouldn’t be categorized as a religion.

Communism and capitalism also are not religions.

But, they are philosophies that one can choose to reject or adopt.

Atheism isn't a religion because it doesn't believe in a God or have a place of worship, or any centralised doctrine.

Atheists will believe completely different things to each other. Some just won't believe in any God, but may be open to the idea of a God if they had evidence. Some firmly believe there is no God. Some drink and some don't. Some eat meat and some don't.

It is a religion. It's originated as the "Cult of Reason" to become the "National Religion" of France to replace Catholicism during the French Revolution. It's recognized by the Supreme Court of the USA as a Religion. The fact that you don't understand your own religion isn't unique. There are tons of Christians that don't read their Bibles, Muslims that don't read their Quran, and Atheists that don't study their religion. So people that tell you that just have a better education than you and are more informed about History, Philosophy, and Law.

Atheism runs hand in hand with Socialism and Satanism. During the French Revolution, the Cult of Reason push worship of the state and pseudo-"science". This is the general motif of Socialism/Communism. It was then supplanted by Maximilien Robespierre who gave rise to the "Cult of the Supreme Being" like every other Socialist Atheist Dictatorship that tries to make himself the Godhead that rules over the population.

Atheism is just a non-belief in a God... It is a reactionary movement against God. For atheism to exist, first theism has to exist. Atheism was defined in Diderot and d’Alembert’s Encyclopédie as “the opinion of those who deny the existence of a God in the world. The simple ignorance of God doesn’t constitute atheism. To be charged with the odious title of atheism one must have the notion of God and reject it”. That is to say, you must understand that God is in the world, and then turn your back on God rejecting his love for you and authority over you. This is exactly what Satanist do in their religion. They rebuke God and reject his authority as they try to make themselves Gods mimicing Satan in Isaiah 14:12-15.

This Cultism of Atheism has been carried forward in other Socialist countries. For example, the Mao Zedong's cult of personality. Mass media, propaganda and a series of other techniques were used by the state to elevate Mao Zedong's status to that of a God. The same thing is done in North Korea with the Kim Family. Atheism is religion through and through and many people have worshiped the socialist Godheads Atheism has propped up and exultant above God. Face it, you joined a cult.

1, first notice the letter ISM in atheism an ism is a belief or idea like communism. including atheism.

2, specificly this generation blends agnostic "probably no god" with FAITH that they are right. it is not a rejection of "each god" as you mock unless you ONLY reject zeus but believe other gods, it is faith that DESPITE cannot know, as agnosticism claims, trust number of gods is zero.

3 atheism is nonsense, but if we censor nonsense, we can't censor "anything that seems wrong". we need objective ways to measure which nonsense, if words have verbs with nouns even if false.

Its not a formalized religion but its still an equally strong belief as the believers do. They are absolutely certain there is nothing spiritual, free will is going to allow them to proof it to themselves that they are right since any signs are deliberately subtle and easily dismissed as coincidence by them. So it is a belief system, if they were truly uncertain and open minded they'd be agnostic.
