I have before (agnostic for whole life). Generally as only a dinner with lighting the menora and one person reading a passage from the old testament, the only part which I remember being roughly translated as, "Blessed thou o lord our God, King of the universe,---------" There are different regular foods depending on if it's a Sephardic or Askenazi dinner.

It's a multiple day holiday, though I remember the celebration being on the last night.

no, and sadly i know nothing about it.. I wish i did. the Jewish community where i live isn't very willing to talk about their practices and their beliefs with Christians or in my case atheists.

1, because you asked, the religious jews believe a miracle oil burnt longer than possible. 2, secular jews celebrated the successful rebellion against greek/seleuc, empire. but the end of the war wasn't a real victory. but did get jew king self rule in the land then named israel.

So how does the jews celebrate this event?

religious jews light candles, or oil, to symbolize the miracle of oil burning more than possible. secular jews, many who reject miracles, supernatural still do the ceremony as a cultural symbol. surprisingly even atheists will say the blessing to god, while insisted they are atheist jews.

The jews must believe in miracles since all the book of torah "old testament" is filled with miracles and supernatural events...
In the end, a miracle is called a miracle because it's a supernatural phenomenon...
