What do you think of Jesus saying you have to make God a priority, even if you are not in a position of lack or need?

The example he gave was a of a man who had achieved great wealth, and instead of thinking about how he could maintain his religious activities, he was thinking of ways he could spend and save his earnings. He died before he could spend his money and he lost both His God and also his riches and the bible says all who spend themselves on riches while neglecting God would have the same problem.

I'm not saying ambition is wrong. I've met three people who became religious after working hard to become successful, because the moral lessons and character lessons they learned and gained through their professional work built up their morality and made them attuned to the wisdom and standards of God. Just like I went from being an angry and hateful person to becoming a peaceful and non confrontational one by pursuing academics in university.
