Of course not and bowing to it is allowing Islamic extremists to force their blasphemy laws on the rest of us.
Avicenna would know better...
@DrPepper12: Avicenna would today be known as a free-speech advocate, and as a respected researcher like him knew, you can't have scientific and for that matter even theological inquiry, much less debate with totalitarian speech restrictions like blasphemy laws. Avicenna was a big debater. Ironically, the intellectual climate was much better in his day than it is now in most of the Muslim world.
But thanks for outing yourself as a complete totalitarian (not that anyone is surprised).
Wait. Wait. I'm totalitarian because I, the atheist, support respect and not intentional sacrilege of a dearly held religious belief by it's adherents? Please tell me more!!
@DrPepper12 fucking hell dude you're talking like a damn sjw weirdo.
Religions don't deserve any fucking respect WHATSOEVER and if people get offended then so fucking what? They can go cry about it.
If they break the law because of it or try to intimidate other people? Then fuck them. I'm going to go extra hard on them and actively shit on their religion.
Ideas are for satire and ridicule!! Religion does deserve it! But in a pluralistic civil society you should not INTENTIONALLY and unprovoked make it a point to do something that will offend!! Why would you do that rather than just ignore it?
@DrPepper12: Now you're atheist. Weren't you allegedly Jewish just a few days ago? LOL...
Newsflash: satire is intentional, and it is intended to provoke. And don't try to pretend that other religions don't get insulted, too, because they certainly do. It's part of protected speech, which is why I pointed out that we cannot allow our values to be dictated to us by anyone's blasphemy laws. The "perpetually offended" are happy to offend us, but they don't want to be offended. Well, there are dozens of majority Muslim countries they can live in where Islam can't be satirized or criticized.
I'd say no, but I don't want to get stabbed.

Ehh, not really a big fan of religious jokes, even if they're hilarious occasionally.
Religion is best without people who don't follow the faith interfering. I've met a bunch of Muslim people at this point and I don't think theyre any worse than any other group so it seems pretty stupid to me to give them any positive or negative treatment.
I hope neither gets taken down.
Respectable
Then answer my questions above without repeating your rantings about Islam.
@DrPepper12 why what was the question?
Of course that religion is supposed to get preferential treatment. It's only okay to shit on every other religion. Didn't you get the memorandum?
For a gothamite that is some Empire State sized ignorant and embarrassing take on things.
@DrPepper12 You do understand sarcasm, correct?
@DrPepper12 I just checked your recent history on this site. I withdraw my question. The answer is clearly, "No."
Well you aren't showing him with his 9 year old bride, even though it says that in the karan. So I don't see why anyone would object.
I remember there was a school teacher who named a teddy bear in the class as Muhammed, she was terminated from her job and lived in fear. Maybe still does! I think this was in France.
Fascism was assisted by certain factions of the muslim religion during the 2nd world war too, but I digress.
It deserves nothing. But they do get preferential treatment, for instance, we are prosecuted and labelled islamophobes if we criticise their religion. But they can Christmas is an evil festival and that is supposed to be ok. And considering that they destroy monuments and statues that predate Islam then they should not get any special treatment.
So extremists speak for all of Islam? GREAT! Then the westboro Baptist church, Moonies and the KKK speak for all Christians!! Do you know how stupid you sound?
I will never give an inch to any demands by Islamic extremists. Though even as I don't care about their drawing law, I won't go out of my way to draw or show one just for the sake of it, that I'd find a bit petty. But neither would I listen to any "no one must ever be allowed to" nonsense.
No. The problem is that the west is soft so western leadership has to think of a way to avoid conflict with muslims & the easiest way is to raise a white flag & bend over while treating traditional Christians like scum.
The difference is that Christians don't behead Charlie Hebdo cartoonists for drawing Jesus, no matter how "offensive" the image might be
No! OF COURSE NOT!! Christians are CIVILIZED!!
*Not included: the inquisition, witch trials, forced conversion in Al-Andulus, Canadian RC fosters & orphanages, hunt and murder Native American "apostates", church run labor camps for non adherents, support if Nazis in WWII, Korean colonization, forced conversion during Chinese civil war, Hundred years war, Anglicanism, Roman persecution of Manichaeism, Mithraism and Gnostics. Dude I could go ON AND ON about christian violence for reasons that don't even approach sacrilegious offensiveness.
You're confused. It's understandable.
Christians - genuine, god-fearing and born again ones - opposed:
the inquisition, witch trials, forced conversions, etc - and were burned at the stake, bricked up alive inside walls, tortured and murdered for it
Nazism - and many priests were executed in the concentration camps alongside the Jews
The "holy" Roman Empire and it's persecutions.
Try to differentiate between the religious leaders and the actual Christians. Because the actual Christians were being murdered alongside the groups you mentioned for trying to protect them from the zealots.
You asked about art. My initial answer was specifically about art.
If you want to debate the merits of the teachings of Christ as compared to the teachings of Mohammed then I'll oblige - but have the intellectual integrity to ask that question
My apologies @Juxtapose I didn't check the sender of the comment before responding
Do you deny it? You only need faith for salvation. You should repent now with a hunk of lasagna.
I don't think Islam deserves any preferential treatment.
They don't get it so you're all good!
Preferential? No. Respect for adherents? Yes. Are you going to serve hamburgers for Diwali? Pork for Rosh Hashanah? Meat on Lenten Fridays? It's just respectable to not show his face.
Please explain to me the Islamic relationship between intentional sacrilege by non adherents and homicidal entitlement. I'm aware of Charlie hedbo. Those terrorist extremists do not speak for 99.999 percent of Muslims.
If Muslims feel offended about our imagination of their prophet, they just should watch something else. Maybe a herd of sheep or something.
No I don't think it needs any more attention than any other art!
That is actually a psychological/historical theory for why Islam is in the Stone Age today and Christianity went through renaissance 600 years ago.
Christianity? A Renaissance? Surely you mean the art and not the dogma. FYI from the 700s - 1300s the dar al Islam, especially Baghdad, were THE centers of GLOBAL knowledge. Stone age? Get educated.
@DrPepper12 look up Renaissance art. Itβs a-lot Christian. Not saying that means anything other than the βChristian establishmentβ was for art and science. The Vatican ironically financed some science and then tried debunking it when it conflicted with their beliefs.
But either way, thatβs the theory. That Christians are through the Renaissance and are modernized.
Islam hasnβt had their renaissance.
Islam STIMULATED the European Renaissance!!! Are you mad? They WERE the center of art, science, technology, philosophy, travel, geography, navigation, commerce, urbanization, government, jurisprudence, language!!!
Oh, as far as Renaissance art and Islam? Go STUDY IN DETAIL Raphaels "School of Athens".
@DrPepper12 okβ¦funny itβs in the Vatican museum archives.
www.museivaticani.va/.../scuola-di-atene.html
Iβm not arguing for Christianity or religion for godsakes. Iβm just looking at an obvious difference between Islam and the other religions and inviting theories.
Figures. Vatican short selling of Islam. Try this: medium.com/.../the-grandfather-of-the-european-enlightenment-was-muslim-49c1342946f1
@DrPepper12 hey Islam invented algebra and did a lot of shit. Then went full Stone Age
Yes. The dar al Islam DID decline as Europe was rising. Agreed. But to confuse the faith with the many diverse cultures is not honest
@DrPepper12 Wahhabism fckin destroyed them. Somehow got people to think modernity is a bad thing. Idiots. We got it here in the US. FLDS. Youβve seen those stupid bitches wearing buttoned up Amish dresses. Ok with their man fckin around.
No. But thereβs a difference between being an artist and being a dick.
Fair, and completely agreed.
@Lliam that's a false equivalency, especially since this picture of the Islamic prophet is not made in a lewd way. Muhammad simply being drawn can get you killed and Islamic countries will sanction punishments if you draw their prophet.
Are you going to get lashes in the Vatican if you simply draw Jesus?
Do you REALLY wanna go there knowing the history of Christianity? Do you? @RedInnocent69. @Juxtapose
@DrPepper12 I'm talking about what is relevant and the modern day. You guys can't equate Christians and Muslims, not modern day ones.
@Lliam you would know if you looked at the article that there is no international observer organizations that are making reliable estimates. The international community is relying on Hamas numbers, which are wrong.
Gaza never belonged to anyone but what? Egypt? And Palestine (which is not recognized as a country by the United States) was only formed to oppose Israel's existence and it is essentially a proxy state of Iran.
Hamas's stated goal is to wipe out Israel and they actually give out bounties to their citizens for killing innocent Israeli civilians and Jews.
@DrPepper12 no, I donβt even really want to be here.
Only if the art is printed toilet paper.
I remember that time that I used the King James Bible as a plate in the hotel and microwaved my pizza on it. Bitch caught fire and had to throw it in the tub and stamp it out. Hope I wasn't offensive. WWJD? @Juxtapose. @SotiCoto
@DrPepper12 : I wouldn't eat food off something that is made to spread a disease... even if the disease is memetic.
LMFAO!!! Now THATS funny!!! πππ That gets a follow!!
I'm just seeing this again and it's just as funny if not more so today!
Yes when it comes to burning yes front of the line always.
no, just equal
No, nor does any faith.
Well good thing you are not catholic.
