Religions are mental diseases. They have no business existing. And no, it has nothing to do with murder. Morality is basically just religion-lite and also has no business existing. Religion's primary wrongdoing is inhibiting learning and understanding through the propagation of lies.
It can be (see:Religion-based U. S Civil Rights Movement), but too often it's used to dominate and oppress others.
Likely they would have, but Dr. King and other clergy made it more pressing.

five? stalin n hitler were FAR WORSE relying on atheism.
cute how you cherry pick someone diagnosed as psychotic to represent "religion" of 90% humans on earth who are healthy and didn't reach that "Biblical conclusions" hmm.
No they are not. they are the most evil thing in our world. They cause all the wars, look how many wars Jesus caused. Religious people are all hypocrites of their own religion and God himself is evil. They abuse and mistreat children in the name of their religion.
It serves its originally manifested purpose. Control.
Add in mental illness and the control becomes a but too tight.
*bit
Andrea Yates was not evil- she was ill. She suffered from psychotic depression and was under the delusion that her children were possessed by demons. She felt that the only way to save her kids was to kill them to release the demons. That is mental illness, not "religion." In her state of mind, it was the act of a loving mother.
It is a horrendous thing but you can't get rid of it. There's something in the human mind that just breaks when it deals with death so it makes up bullshit.
Meanwhile the non-believers mostly just ignore death until it comes because thinking about non-existence will cause stress.
Religion in and of itself is meant to be a positive. People are the negative aspect that tend to take it to unnecessary extremes and make it negative.
There are people who actually follow the beliefs, values, and teachings of the religion and there are people who don’t and mean to corrupt it so that people like you can antagonize it
If you want to look at a world without religion, just look at many far leftist democrat states that are now dystopian societies. Full of drugs, tent cities of homelessness, broken families and crime.
if it weren't for religion, we'd still be cavemen scratching each other's asses with sticks and dying before the age of 30
look at places over the past 100 years that tried to eliminate religion: Soviet Union, Maoist China, Khmer Rouge Cambodia, and you tell me.
That's true, but if you look a total number of deaths and percentage of population killed, they don't come close to the nations that were officially atheist
Obviously, it's how empires, societies and laws are built.
and guess who created christianity and judaism? ONLY
I don't think it's necessarily a positive, but after all people are scared as hell of dying and religion alleviates this fear to some extent. So that's probably a positive.
Only the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ.
Everything is false and useless trash.
prosperity? what kinda dirty trick is that? to expect
prosperity? jesus said we wouls SUFFER for following him n he was right! choosing prosperity t measure is like saying "prove the sea bed is dry".
but positive is ANY benefit.
@strateguy632 wow true, that’s how they get you. Suffering leads to prosperity in heaven. So give me all your money.
