Why does Christian Zionism and religious fanaticism have such a large following in the US? Are religious people more reasonable in Europe?

I’m referring mostly to Baptists and Evangelicals in the US.

For whatever the hell the reason they’re extremely pro-Israel and almost all of them are these religious fanatics that go around thinking they’re morally superior to everybody else. Even though a lot of them are absolute hypocrites and live these morally reprehensible lifestyles with things like child abuse, racism towards minority people and teenage pregnancy being super common.

I can hardly understand how these people could be considered “good Christians” just because they can regurgitate the Bible without actually living it.

At least black Protestants in the South tend to be like 100,000x more reasonable from what I can make of it.

And no, I’m not some kind of liberal or leftist. I am a Christian myself.

And then you also have all this crazy talk of witchcraft and demon possession.

I mean ffs, there’s literally a user on this site that thinks women that wear jeans are going to hell, and that somehow her own sister is a witch and has all these magical powers to inflict “spiritual warfare” on her.

But getting back to my question though, do these kinds of people actually exist in Europe?

And also I’m trying to understand why Christian Zionism is a thing to begin with.

Was it a thing in the Middle Ages? 100 years ago even?

Where in the Bible does it ever say that Christians owe Jews anything?

They chose to occupy the Middle East, and the consequences of such a decision are their own personal problem to deal with.

I can hardly sympathize with Israel for October 7th, after knowing what they’d been doing for decades to Palestinians.

And their response has been ineffective, and disproportionate (yeah, its been several months of death and guess what?). Still nothing f*cking changed.

And by the way, I can hardly see how Israel is this nation “blessed by God” when its just as immoral as the average western country with things like gay pride parades and gay marriage.

But then they’ll tell you that they’re fulfilling God’s will in the Book of Revelations. That there be a Jewish led state. Even though the Bible only says that there will be a Jewish led state. Not that God actually supports its proposed creation and continued existence.

And neither are we bound by scripture to support this new proposed state.

I see no personal obligation as a Christian to support the Zionist cause. I’m not bound by scripture to do so.

Furthermore, it should be noted that in the Book of Revelations when God returns to the Earth, he isn’t going to award the Jewish people with all these diamonds and gold watches.

They’re either going to be killed by God, or forced to convert.

Therefore I can hardly see the argument that God somehow still loves the Jewish people. Like he did in the days of the Old Testament, before they turned to sin and betrayed him.
