Custom Afterlife?

If you could create a afterlife for all humanity (including yourself) how would you make it. What rules will it have and how will it function.

Great idea ! It has been used and amplified in several works of fiction, if you like books, I'd recommend To Your Scattered Bodies Go by Philip José Farmer, beginning like this:

British adventurer Richard Francis Burton dies on Earth. He next awakes upon the shores of a mysterious river, naked and hairless. All around him are other people in a similar situation. Shortly after they awaken, a nearby structure causes food and other supplies to appear. Burton quickly attracts a group of companions: Kazz the neanderthal, the science fiction author Peter Jairus Frigate, and Alice Liddell. Soon enough he will encounter several historical figures, such as Tullus Hostilius, former king of Rome, or Hermann Göring, former Nazi leader.

I like to say hell need not be eternal: if it lasted only until someone admits to their soul that they were wrong the sort of people sent there in the first place would still be there forever.

So, I would start everyone in hell. Once you are out you have to spend some percentage of eternity on "demon duty" where you convince the others still in hell that they were right and are the real victim here; Their suffering is what would be used to fuel everyone else's bliss so it is to the benefit of everyone who matters that those in hell stay as long as possible.

Of course, a big part of that bliss comes from the absence of the people in hell. We would thus celebrate each person that gets out of it as it signifies they have shed themselves of what makes it bliss to be without them. But the bliss is enhanced by burning the suffering of those who remain so we we do try to keep them there as long as possible.

So where do they go after they leave hell? Are they reborn? Do they go to some sort of other afterlife like heaven? or something else?

I envision hell as being sort of like the engine room of a massive yacht, in this scenario.

Of course I have other heavan/hell concepts but they aren't ones I'd want to live in. The story i linked in my profile is one of them (though I need to do some heavy editing).

Oh, I lost my train of thought. Hell is the engine room. The people in hell are the engine. They come out when they can but everyone enjoying themselves on the yacht (which is heavan) takes their turn going to the engine room to tell the fuel to keep producing itself.

If the boat stops its still a fun place but keeping it moving is more interesting and it's no less than what the engine deserves, anyway. Their actual victim can visit them and tell them they were right all along to fan the flames. It would be thrilling to write such dialogue but no one will pay me 😅

I don’t see any reason we could all have our own individualized planes of existence. They wouldn’t necessarily be very large, but each place would be customized to best fit the desires and comforts of the individual, with just enough space for all the things they’d like to have and any environmental factors like if they wanted to live with their past pets from their life, or pets they always wanted but never had, or care for animals that never existed while they were alive such as dinosaurs or extinct mammals, or mythological creatures like dragons and unicorns.

I would make justice :

bad pain for those who were guilty of paining others or who denied my existence as a judge, but

good to those who accepted my Authority and sincerely tried.

Of course i would just be stealing this idea from Christianity.

Everyone has the chance to create their own reality. They can see dead friends again or can travel around the world. They could pursue a dream career of be a superhero.
