Christians... why hasn't Jesus returned yet when the Scripture said "it's the last days" thousands of years ago?

Several things have to transpire first before the 2nd coming, which comes at the culmination of the 7-year Tribulation and the Battle of Armageddon. When the Tribulation comes, you will know it as it will be hell on earth. Also, before that starts the Rapture will occur, where all the believers are taken off Earth, as they have no part in the wrath of God which will fall on an evil world.

it's not a metaphor. it is but it isn't. it was their literal opinion the end of the world was coming. their logic was that evil ruled the world and it would only get more and more evil. eventually the world would end. and then the "good", everyone who wasn't participating in how the world works, would take power. and the previous people in power would burn in hell. although that was probably metaphorical, meaning they would be forced to work like slaves for the "good" and be shown no mercy. which, makes no sense to me, theologically, if your religion is truly about forgiveness instead of revenge.

I heard the early Christians were induced to act like communists, with rich men being psychologically coerced into giving all their possessions to the priests and other church members. they also denounced having kids, pursuing careers, etc. because the return of Christ was imminent

according to modern Christianity that had to justify why he hasn't literally returned, he did. the theology of the Jews who created Christianity was that heaven was a literal city on earth with all the people throughout time physically resurrected. the unbelievers woild live in "hell" serving the believers. and they'd ask for a drop of water and be denied it. revenge fantasy. and it was all about a physical world.
