Sift everything through the common denominator: humanity. All religions were founded on the understanding at the time the text was written about what made common-sense to do, think, etc. in the spirit of the Divine—whether this divinity had form or not or whether it was plural or singular. Even animalist beliefs had some way of handling their human challenges but this does not mean that in today's reality that people need to be treated in the exact same manner (ex. stoning is not necessary to punish a woman for infidelity in Muslim society when more humane means could be turned to). Granted, many people debate that some religions are very sex segregated in that alone perpetuates patriarchial views that are sexist and end up being borderline abusive to women or other groups who become subjected to abuse by narcissistic persons within these religious circles. Just as attending a place of worship does not guarantee faith, there will always exist persons within these religious spaces who warp, misinterpret, or otherwise confound others with their vision of what the text really meant for their own means to and end. If the values are incongruent as to be conflictual, then it makes it difficult to live together, so, living apart physically is usually the first course of action/inaction to consider as there is no expectation of the other to conform to the lifestyle or partake in the activities of the other that runs in alignment with their values.
If the person approached the faith knowing what was expected of them, then it would make sense that however the religion decides to treat that person generally is not the domain of the government body that oversees the rest of society. However, there are always cases of people having not thoroughly read the religious texts and understood it in its entirety. Regardless, I do not think that a religious order has fundamental (human) right to punish its members with actual physical, emotional, and mental harm in assuming that there is evidence or suspicion of physical violence inflicted. The only problem is really that those born into the religion do not have choice and those who even seemingly accept these sadist-masochist acts because of what thet perceive to be religious devoutness is oftentimes a point of contention amongst people.
The state must be given access to investigate these cases and hold these religious leaders and its members accountable to crimes against humanity rather than breach of faith. Yes, every religion has a right to physically exist whether as a mosque, church, temple, etc. but in no way does that mean that these places be places meant to deliberately torture people at the expense of the few who have very sick or twisted desires.
All religions in such way can be treated equitably against the measure of humanity in such way. Upon the basic and fundamental principles of human right to be alive, to be cared for by their religious order to the extent possible, and to adhere to the laws against a universal opposition against murder/manslaughter/torture at bare minimum.
Although this never addresses medical biases, many revisions had to be considered for medical care in how professionals are to respect these patients to either preserve their life, or not. Informed consent is rather murky in such cases and those unfamiliar with the faith and have no permission to do otherwise may find themselves having to suggest other types of care facilities for these people.
Just as some societies have come up with a "halal mortgage", which is available to everyone, via their specific banking institution, there may exist certain hospitals that cater to the main or dominant religions, so, if, for example, somebody is Christian, that person may assign a Christian hospital to oversee their care.
Allowing those who were born into the religion by proxy of family association to leave the religion without repercussions and support for their basic needs. And that such persons have right to be informed of their right to identify or not and not be coerced to do so until age of majority.
I'm not saying religion doesn't have a place in society but when its members harms others whom they hate or other for a protected characteristic like sex orientation then it's a matter of state vs religious body and religious body must yield to the state. A religion doesn't have to keep a gay member around but in no way does that mean the order has right to maim or otherwise harm this person to make their lives worse such as outside worship harrassment or gossip mongering to other religious bodies.
I just keep on loving them. 💕
Thank you for the MHO Paris ❤
Simply do not bring up religion. And when they do, you listen politely and don't engage. I am not here to convert anyone and my beliefs are my own. There's no edict in my beliefs to convert or convince anyone of anything religious. I also tell people when they ask me of my views that they do not wish me to share with them, as my beliefs are in conflict with theirs. If I am forced into this conversation I am well read and have studied many major religions, I have read many many religious texts in multiple faiths and have studied religious history and can hold my own in religious debate but most people give up shortly after we start this conversation as my views may be heretical to theirs.
Be the godly man or woman you are supposed to be and let them see God in you and at work through you so that the Holy Spirit can soften their heart and prepare it for a renewing of the mind.

If your religion is important to you then find someone with the same beliefs. If love is more important and you're prepared to compromise, marry anyone. If you are willing to have your beliefs and her/he theirs then this can work.. if you both want the children to belong to your faiths then this will be the problem. At the end of the day decide what you want and find someone who fits that category, don't try to change your partner if they are not willing. Then again, opposites attract as they say.
I don't talk to them. they know I love them but I don't have interactions with them because my opinions of to pronounced in our discussions
It may sound like I'm distancing myself but I'm not. I'm just keeping the Peace between the family. I mean both sides of my family are reclusive and I don't want to make it any worse.
I try not to make religion the thing that would make US argue. Religion is one of those things that you just accept as different and don't pry into IT much, definitely not with the intention of converting someone or forcing your own believes on them. IT is my way of showing respect to a friend's or loved one's spiritual life.
I don't really care about differences in religious beliefs. Values are different, because they impact expectations of behavior. Same way I view politics. As long as she doesn't place an expectation of behavior on me, I don't give af what she believes in.
Murder
But if that is not an option, then talk to them in ways that are gracious, and if they want to escape murder.
Murder is historically a good option. Mainly as if they are placing it all on the line, and I can't convince them; then I can hurry up their trip to God, so they can ask him themselves...
I am lucky in this area. Unless you are doing anything evil... and what not. I was raised going to church. When I was at my grandma's house and she wanted to go.. Different church but the sermons sounded the same. I have a friend who used to go to the Mormon church and they never tried to convert me. Then I have 2 other friends who don't go to church.. I have seen good and evil in both of them. We all never really talked religion to much..
Funny you should ask. This Italian Catholic (born into it now militant atheist) married the Slavic Jewish girl and both our families were oh so thrilled!
We're still together. The families have 3 divorces and two broken engagements between them and turns out all the Jews married Catholics and were all still together! Damn myopic hateful bigots piss me off. Fuck them!
Stop commanding me, I'm afraid of whoever it pleases me, respect my liberty !
I would convert unless he is a Muslim. I don’t want to wear a hijab, be controlled by the Sharia law and pray 5 times a day. I don’t see myself dating anyone too obsessed with religion because I’m not. I don’t even remember when I last went to a temple 🛕
I accept the beliefs and values of others, so long as they are not illegal, and so long as they don't try to force their beliefs and values on me.
That's a really tough question!
Most of the time it's not an issue for me, since I'm a libertarian.
I've only had one instance where it was, because this one chick was trying to force her own particular denomination on me, saying she was right and everyone else was wrong. So that was pretty annoying.
With an absence of arrogance, self-righteousness, or condescension.
Got two of those issues in the air now - we'll keep you advised. ;- )
Honestly these big differences aren’t as important as the small stuff. Strange how dirty dishes or toothpaste stains day to day are more important.
Im an atheist married to a sheltered Catholic Latina.
by throwing it out of the question? respect that you have your own beliefs and dont set conditions to love.
By not seeing it as a barrier.. we should be able to have differences
In view points.. n still find more common ground than not
My closest friends are all over the board on this. As long as there is respect, friendship can work.
Same way I deal with all my loved ones. There's no reason that anything needs to be different.
I keep an open mind, everyone has different beliefs just like opinions, I don’t discriminate
By not dealing with 'em! I'm a Baker. When we have a relative that we don't like, we just don't deal with 'em.
a George Lopez show reference.
Religion doesn't matter. All that matters to me is, his / her good character, moral, ethics, values and good behaviour.
Titus 3:10 “A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;”
That is how.
We all have the same religious beliefs so there's no problem there
Respect their religious beliefs and not make a deal out of it.
I would use reason and scenarios to test the depth of their convictions and then try to explain the benefits and realities to them in the hope they'd resolve things themself
It's difficult for me.
Keep calm and carry on. Simple
I stop listen to them.
you don't discuss it
Hear each other out and agree to disagree
Like an open mind/ accepting of others beliefs?
In a word respectfully
Cancel them! J. k. it is just opinion.
keep religion away from love!
All of my relatives are Catholic.
