No. The idea is rooted in misunderstandings about early Christian eschatology, conflating it with some Zarathustran/Manichean beliefs; the idea is that when the End comes, it all comes at once- there's really no purpose in dragging things out.

The scriptural justifications for it are invariably rooted in the mistaken idea that the events of Revelation would occur in the future, rather than being a "revelation" (as opposed to a "prophecy") of the past.
