Why do you hate atheists?

Look, I am an atheist, but whenever these issues are brought up outside, I am afraid to express my opinions. Because whenever I tell someone that I am an atheist, I feel that they become alienated from me and start to disgust me. Of course, there are worse ones. Those who try to silence me, those who treat me badly, those who want to beat me...

Why can't they understand that atheists are humans too?

I'm an athiest, myself, and I try to live by one rule, when it comes to religion (or lack thereof). I respect their beliefs, and ask that they respect mine.

I never try to convince anyone that their faith is wrong, and if anyone tries to "convert" me, I ask them once, politely, to stop. If they persist, then I don't associate with them anymore.

If they feel their "religious superiority" entitles them to be disrespectful towards me, then we're done. I'm not friends with anyone who disrespects me, because a friend wouldn't do that.

I don't hate atheists. In fact, I don't hate anyone. There are some people that I dislike, but hate is so meaningless, nothing to gain, and everything to lose, by hating someone.

Because they feel righteous in their beliefs. If they feel righteous then they automatically think you are wrong and bad for your beliefs. It's apparently extremely popular for religious people to force beliefs on others. To make the world Christian or Muslim depending on who it's coming from. That's why they try to break separation of church and state and incorporate their beliefs into law and government. To force it onto others.

Also people DO feel disgust toward atheists who use t. v. to mock Christians and do discrimination by say stuff that they would never say about islam, that they say About Christians, so yeh people are disgusted by atheists and feel alienated.
