That depends on what you mean. Ther many individuals who are religious that i am friends with. How ever the evangelicals and apologists i do have huge list of issues with. ( if you don't perform these behaviors or share these beliefs, that i don't have have issue with you)
To start acting like they morally superior because they belong to X religion. That pretty dick move and yes their atheists that like claim the moral high ground just because they're atheists and i think they are dicks too. Than the speed fire list. Science denial, promoting sexist gender roles, promoting marital rape, promoting child abuse as parenting techniques, refuseing to provide their children a proper education, refusing to allow their children to receive proper health care, shaming the LGBTQ community, shaming rape victims, shaming people with mental health issues. using disasters to shame groups of people, trying to force their morality into law, using their churches to victimize their own members, using the handful of apologetics on atheists while act like they are amazing pearls of wisdom we have never heard before.(we have heard them all and find them all flawed) and finally apologists that refuse address or criticisms but instead trun them in to strawmen for their followers entertainment.
Now i to my knowledge there no one religious person that inbodies all these traits. And i acknowledge these traits are not excusive to religious people. however how religion can use to justify these traits in whole communities is problematic.
Also i don't know you and do not assume you have any of these traits untill show otherwise. I believe you are a good person that wants to understand someone with a different view from your self.10 Reply

+1 yI disrespect religious people because they could be very knowledgeable and/or intelligent, but in that specific category, they can't think for themselves; they have been taught to not think for themselves.
Most religious people believe in what they do because they were raised (indoctrinated) in that way. They have no proof that any god exists, but they choose to have their "faith" because they fear death and want to continue on some plane of existence (heaven, hell, etc.) In most religions there is an afterlife. Why I wonder? Because humans fesr death.
It's funny that people use Greek mythology and other historical beliefs as entertainment nowadays. Fact of the matter is, Zeus and all the other Greek gods like Apollo, Aphrodite, etc were real gods/goddesses in the ancient Greeks eyes. Same as Thor and Odin in Norse mythology. Yet, thousands of years later, it's all used for entertainment. It's incredible that a belief like Christianity has survived for so long when you can literally see the changes throughout history in the specific beliefs.
I believe religion was created in a time where order was needed and it played on peoples fear to subdue their animalistic behaviour. But nowadays it's just a ridiculous concept to believe in. There's so much information out there that points towards the fact it's all a ruse.00 Reply

+1 yMy secular family hated me for saying my cousin was okay looking because they thought she was gorgeous, as a Christian I don’t care what people look like but my family thought I was jealous of her for not noticing how good she supposedly looked and my other cousin thought I was jealous of her because I was always criticizing her for lying to people. She thought I hated her for being rich when I hated her for being a bad person, the rest of my family despised me because I choose to work a low paying job since I did not consider a pastoral career or a tutoring business to be an honest way to earn money which were the two jobs I trained for during my university years.

Your views are to be within you, if shared it will suffer so many to be enraged, which is not your fault cos you ought to live your life wheather or not some groups are unhappy about it or Jack. But To to avoid stiring up anger or getting involved in scrupulous arguments, i suggest you keep your lips sealed sometimes, that's how to win your peace. Be unpredictable, that will even make em more confused than angered. Which is non of your business. Peace
It doesn’t make sense to me. If you are preaching a book that was supposedly written by Moses from over a 1,000 years ago, people would have changed the scriptures or passages to fit their agenda. Most likely during the medieval times, because poor people couldn’t read and relied on pastors to read for them. At some point these texts would have been altered to fit political or religious agendas, for example the “Man shall not lay with man” which people use to justify homophobic abuse, but it’s actually “man shall not lay with boy” denouncing pedophilia. It doesn’t make sense why no one has questioned this in the church or publicly.

You're right. But when you actually look hard at the real text what you find is pretty profound. The writings are pretty advanced for their time. Revolutionary.
Generally I think the ethics advice written is not that bad. But I am unsure of all of it. I have to look back on the book as an adult and re study it.

1. They held back science for a long time, then ignore science.
2. They use religion as a way to pretend they have some higher moral ground and/also impose traditional views that just hurt people while claiming it to be good.
3. Hypocrites they don't actually follow what it say's in there religion or know half the stuff to do with it.
4. If i met someone who told me Rooster serpent monsters exist and there is demons, angels and giant dragons, and burning bush that talks and is actually a deity, then frog plagues are sent by deity sometimes, then blinding is a punishment cause reasons. Then i said... Ok but can you prove it? And they say no. They are just a crazy nutter, not someone who has actual insight to there been a creator.
If i replaced all these with spaghetti monsters rather than stuff that was actually in the bible, you would seem them as nuts too.
5. How many bad things have been justified and done in the name of religion? I mean you should know the answer is easy over millions.10 Reply
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yHere is the problem with your question. You separate the terms atheist and religious. There are no true atheist and people who claim atheism are religious. Atheism is a disorganized religion, though it tends to form groups in the academic system. All religious are systems of shared beliefs, what those beliefs are isn't relevant to the question. All religions are formed on the question what must I do to appease God. Atheism says you must do nothing based on their belief that they are not accountable to God. Other world religions say you must do x, y, or z to appease god or gods. Christianity says there is nothing you can do to appease God. Christianity is the antithesis to world religions as it tells us what God did for us and is built on a shared relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Many of your so called atheist or those that take the title believe in magic, practice sorcery, and are earth worshipers. Many believe Evolution which is modern paganism. Evolution deifies nature and time. A true Atheist could not believe Evolution.00 Reply558 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. Atheists (as a whole) don't have anything against anyone. That said, I'm an atheist & I certainly do however. I have a lot 'against' them, look down on them, feel sorry for them, ridicule them, & enjoy fighting with them & challenging their crazy beliefs for entertainment.
I am able to do all the above, quite simply because I just don't respect their beliefs. Of course they're free to believe whatever they want, but I don't have to cut them any slack or 'respect' that shit because it's TOO NUTS.623 Reply- +1 y
@Tamera952 It's easier, and more fun, to FCK with them, BECAUSE they don't respect you, or what you think, right?
Like who are these bastards to tell you what to think and believe, right? - +1 y
I mean it says a lot about ones character if they receive joy when ridiculing or putting others down for sharing different views. Really unattractive trait to have as a human being
- +1 y
@Not_Average You're missing the point. This isn't a discussion about respecting different viewpoints. I respect people & human beings across the board. This is a specific subset of loony-toons beliefs that I don't respect, because they don't deserve any respect. I'm not disrespecting them as people, I'm disrespecting their silly gullibility, their unwavering certainty, & hypocrisy. I'm not going to tip-toe around the fact that they choose to believe nonsense.
- +1 y
@Tamera952 Why do you have zero tolerance for their beliefs?
Is it necessary to accept these beliefs in order to respect them? - +1 y
@Tamera952 I know... I am sorry I am just too lazy and busy for the conversation.
All I wanna say is... I understand your POV. But I still don't understand why some people find intellectually harassing other peoples beliefs as something good.
I remembered when someone died from my family, and all I could hold to is my inherited belief to face the emotionally overwhelming accident. Then I asked myself, imagine if someone from another religion has the same thing happen to them, then I ridicule their faith, and I insult it. How bad is it to do this!!!
I am sorry, I don't want to make you angry, if you are atheist or agnostic I respect you sincerely. I have read from your theorists, I know why you hate our beliefs. But I just want to say that yes there are things wrong with religions, they need reforms, but it's not gonna happen if we cancel them, disrespect them, look down upon them, and try to remove them... This is just an anger hate strategy that doesn't work.
Instead you can understand or empathise, as why do some people hold "such stupid fairy tales", how afraid they are from loneliness in the universe and from the things they don't know.
And if you want to put yourself on their level!!! Just to try shake their faith, or make fun of it.. Then you're not different from them.. And you could be having your own personal issue with them related to your personal life... But nothing sincerely intellectual!
It's not like a political opinion or something, that's someone who had her mother die while she is a child, and only going on in life by the belief she will eventually meet her.
And we [I'm gonna say we], we come off like bitches, mocking her belief, and telling her" it's all stupid made up shit to make you feel better!!! "
Isn't that bad?
It is! If you ask me. I don't believe that there is an invisible man in the sky, but THERE'S NOTHING WRONG FOR ME if someone does believe that.. As long as they don't enforce it on me.
I hope my point is clear. - +1 y
You’re framing an extremely large group of people under the same negative umbrella. You receive joy out of disrespecting them and putting them down. What am I missing? You sound loony toons. Healthy and self assured people don’t do that.
- +1 y
@Tamera952 You ROCK!!! LOVED your last!! After a while, though, it isn't any fun, anymore, because they make themselves look like such fools, trying to debate the arguments, and then it becomes pathetic, right? LOL!! :)

@JackSmy You’re the type of person parents warn about when we’re younger. 52 and still a bully. I mean who honestly likes to put others down to such an extent and derives such pleasure from it. The superiority complex. I mean damn you find some of the worst kinds of people on the internet. You’re most likely going to insult me, but the absence of morale and your thinking that it’s normal to mock and put others down because they think differently than you in uncanny
- +1 y
I agree that it’s fun to fight with people on their religious beliefs but certain approaches don’t have much impact. People being attacked will shut down their reasoning making any change of mind impossible. I’ve been trying to employ a technique names “street epistemology” which engages people on their own terms and asking them to defend their beliefs without attacks. The only thing that is effective against misinformation and brainwashing is for a person to realize for themselves, though self-reflection, that their viewpoint cannot be reasonably defended.
That being said I am guilty of just going on the attack because it’s just too tempting. - +1 y
@Not_Average You said "You sound loony toons" to Tamara952 for not wanting to be constantly judged and bombarded by religious nuts that cannot accept her choice, and how she believes!
I follow a similar way, and you were insulting me, too, with that, as if our ideas and thoughts were somehow 'looney-toons,' and that you were saying your beliefs are right!
Who are you to tell anyone what to think and believe, and to judge their ways, and understandings?
Then, because I disagree with you, you call me a BULLY for standing up for my own right to think what I want!!
FUCK YOU, dude!! Who are you to say, and call me "bully" when you are the BULLY, HERE, crapping on people that don't believe the CULT lies you follow!! - +1 y
@JackSmy Your ideals are not loony toons. The fact that you openly derive pleasure out of putting others down and bully others for having opposing views is what’s alarming. I disagree with a lot of people, and I don’t feel an inclination to insult and mock them because of it. That doesn’t seem normal. It sounds vindictive. I feel like happy and self assured people don’t act that way.
- +1 y
I think we can stand up for our ideas and values without inflammatory measures, no? Why must you say fuck you and try and put me down on a personal level? Why not just articulate what you want to say without the mockery and bullying?
- +1 y
If I end up insulting others for having other views, then I feel bad. I’m not proud of it. You guys have pride in putting others down because they think differently
- +1 y
If people are going to publicly declare their beliefs and ask others to join them they should be willing to stand up to criticism and scrutiny and defend their beliefs. If I can't rationally defend why I'm now hunting for dragon eggs, or trying to summon lightning with my mind, then I SHOULD be laughed at.
- +1 y
@BlacklightShade Surely anyone should carry enough conviction to stand up and defend threat beliefs, but at what point do you discern what’s inflammatory and what’s critical? Comparing someone’s life to summoning dragons would be considered inflammatory and ignorant in my opinion. You’re saying their life values are lived out via fairy tales. Clearly that would be considered insulting to anyone, thus warranting an emotional response. I think a more appropriate approach would be a debate in regards to the validity in evolution. Creation vs a series of random acts. Dissect the logic and analyze theories behind both. Maybe finding historical context surrounding Jesus Christ outside of the Bible. These are fair conversations which would yield an intellectual conversation. An inability to use tact in a social setting isn’t impressive. It just showcases a certain amount of social ineptitude and a lack of critical reasoning skills.
They don’t deserve respect? You should showcase a certain amount of mutual respect across the board to everyone. Telling someone they live in a fairy tale and insulting them isn’t going to ever garner a healthy conversation. If you’re just doing this to insult others and derive pleasure when putting others down, then you should seek out some professional help. That’s just down right ugly to see that in someone’s character - +1 y
@Not_Average - I don't think reticule helps anyone. If people are going to change for the better it will be through compassion. The best way to push people into their corners is to make fun of them. But if I'm going to expect people to believe what I have to say then I should rightfully be challenged on it. It's not OK to be an antivaxer because that hurts people. They hurt their children and throw dangerous disinformation into the pool. And using 'faith' as a reason to believe something is also dangerous because it affects how they vote, who they pick for school boards, and if some being is going to rescue the world from climate destruction.
Rational people have an obligation to engage irrational beliefs for the betterment of mankind. - +1 y
@BlacklightShade My neighbor is a physician and doesn’t want to take the vaccine quite yet. It’s still considered an experimental drug. Making such black and white, or rather bold statements is just hot air. There are so many complexities surrounding the vaccine.
Part of living within a democracy is that the people as a whole hold a substantial amount of power. Society and culture is cyclical, and if the religious nuts started trying to indoctrinate school systems to their personal belief system, then others would retaliate. The people keep a cultural equilibrium so to speak. We should invite everyone to have a voice and show tolerance towards other viewpoints because other viewpoints offer diversification towards solutions. As soon as we take away the voice of the masses, it threatens the stability of entire society. 5+5=10 but so does 8+2. Let’s not be so arrogant to think that our life experiences trump over everyone else’s. Or orchestrate people’s intellect, or morale composition by categorizing with such a broad lens because they think differently. Anti Vaxer’s = bad. That’s a binary way to look at such a complex situation.
Maybe we have some common ground here? I think people in general are becoming increasingly irrational and intolerant. It’s just something I’m noticing within American Culture. Constructive conversations need to take place from both sides to really prosper. - +1 y
@BlacklightShade it may seem to you like a comforting idea you would want to believe.

Thats what I took away from it too, but then I do think religious people are a bunch of crazies, and thus I have no respect for them.
I have no respect for them in the same way that I don't have respect for gossipers that spread rumors, or anti-science touters, or people who censor media, or lie to their children, or make assumptions about people then judge them on those assumptions, or use technology made by science to rant about arguments against science.

People ought not impose their beliefs on others is a belief your imposing on others
- +1 y
No because I don’t try to convert anyone or talk about why I’m an atheist (except now in context)
- +1 y
That doesn't mean that imposing the belief that people shouldn't impose their beliefs is anything but that. It's a self contradicting statement because it is imposing the belief that people shouldn't impose their beliefs.
Its a lot more reasonable to say you don't want to hear about or talk about religion. - +1 y
@jgibsonian1986 Yea, but religious people are always trying to recruit, trying to show why their brand of bullshit is the best brand & how only they have the truest or purest form of mind-control, PLUS judging others through their constricting prism, AND making subjective statements (like condemning others or proclaiming them sinners, or other similar bullshit) as objective statements.
Atheists don't do any of that. They don't make a "claim". They just don't believe yours, & don't want to be bothered. - +1 y
@Tamera952 Well the truth is narrow by nature, if it wasn't it wouldn't be the truth. Professors would fall under the gripe of showing branded bullshit for the purpose of mind control as well as religious fanatics. Honestly though it seems like your just marginalizing religious peoples by the televangelists on TV who are exactly like you describe.
Also the fact that everyone with a functioning brain makes judgements through their own narrow perspective is there. Its even considered wisdom to read lots of books and source information for more developed perspectives, but I guess not when it's the Bible.
It would be far more reasonable for any atheist to say "I don't believe in God, and I don't want to be bothered about Him" rather than "don't impose your beliefs onto others" since one is far more reasonable, based, and coherent while the other defeats itself in argument.
Hey isn't it subjectively condemning a person if one refused to listen to them off the basis that what they say could be condemning or possibly subjective? 🤔
Its also far from subjective to say that every person alive has flaws that keep them from being righteous. Its objective that nobody's perfect.
I think everyone just mimics the imposition argument because they are too chicken to admit that they hate God and want nothing to do with Him, which would imply that God is real, which makes them hate it all even more.
I'm primarily agnostic. But I'm an atheist when confronted with religion. And I wouldn't have anything against anyone unless they gave me a reason to.
Even still, I like the focus to be more on their viewpoints than the people themselves. Mainly because I see people as messengers rather than the culprit. So my dispute would be with religious ideology rather than with specifically the people. For instance, if robots were perpetuating dogmatic ideology, I'd have my quarrels with them too.
Now, all humans are susceptible to unfavorable behaviors no matter their creed or lack thereof. So I'd have a problem with how a specific person is acting rather than having something against religious people entirely. And then if their ideology is causing that action, then I'd have a problem with the ideology and the way they're acting.00 Reply

I have tried. I don't mind seeing other people happy. I just don't understand and that makes me kind of bitter about it.
I am glad to see/hear people say they believe in God. I'm just used to them saying all my problems must be because I do evil things when I know I don't. But a lot of religious people really try to help and I appreciate that.

Asker+1 yCan you prove that the events in the bible didn't happen?

Yes, there are plenty of historical and scientific inaccuracies in the bible. That doesn't mean God doesn't exist, but it should certainly bring a lot of doubt as to whether or not the God of the bible specifically does.
- +1 y
Also, Christianity is not the only religion, dude. All of them have their own texts, all with their own inconsistencies and inaccuracies.
- +1 y
And at the end of the day, it doesn't matter anyway. You have to first prove the events in the bible DID happen before anyone has to prove that they DIDN'T.
+1 yI am a recovered theist. No I'm not and no there aren't.
To be open minded you need to abandon beliefs entirely.
Evidence disproves every theistic religion out there if you take the time to notice, and sticking to beliefs instead of being swayed by new evidence is what it is to be closed minded.
So it's the religious people that are closed minded, since they won't let evidence or logic enter their thought process.

- +1 y
@Still-alive I was joshing you before but that's genuinely funny. Referring to a mytake on GaG for a definition less than 20 words long.
I never even made an argument, I just applied the claim to itself. Definitively circular arguments are ones where you present the end result of your argument as the beginning. Its a falicy because you are conditioning the thought process of the other person, its more of a manipulation tactic to guise bad arguments than anything.
I'm using her argument to disprove her argument.
So keep haha lmao 🤣🤣🤣ing brutha. - +1 y
@Still-alive
Maybe the reason it seems circular is because it starts and ends at the same point. The difference is that I never made an argument supported by the notion that you shouldn't impose your beliefs onto others. I just pointed out the self defeating statement as it was. - +1 y
@jgibsonian1986 ok so whats your solution? We should just be ok with religious people pressuring people to assimilate into their religion? We should be ok with a religious beliefs being taught as if it was real “science”?
Lets hear it buddy - +1 y
@invalid1 you mean religious enthusiasts actually? :)
- +1 y
@Still-alive Well both sides.
- +1 y
@Still-alive How I do it is I listen to what anyone has to say, then I ask questions about what they said.
Three questions that will easy destroy any poor argument/manipulation attempt:
What do you mean by that?
Getting clarification and better definition is where a lot of parroted arguments falter because if you don't know the argument from its base you can't properly defend it.
How did you come to that conclusion?
Getting the personal side of where this person came from and how they used their reasoning and logic to find this point. If they don't have those things they probably don't know their argument too well.
Lastly and this is the good one
Have you ever considered that ______? Like have you ever considered that some religions as as they are perceived are not indicative of the true motives of their holy book?
Its a very grounded and respectable way of challenging the argument that someone presents.
Or have you ever considered that the Bible directly instructs its followers to "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.", and that those who don't seek grounding and basis for their biblical beliefs are acting against its teaching?
I must say though, I learned this from a book but I didn't read the whole thing. The book is called Tactics if your interested. - +1 y
@Still-alive
So basically yes, we should let anyone spout any foolish or logically void idea they want, so that we may tactically get to the bottom of what they are trying to do.
Rather we should teach people to ask certain questions instead of the general and highly flawed "question everything" approach.
Really though, if you honestly think that it's all bull then why should you care about people parroting easily compromised crap? - +1 y
@Still-alive
Though I realize now that's more of a solution for people who know how to think for themselves. It helps no one who only gathers ideas that others think they should have.
But that's more of an issue with the school systems than anything. - +1 y
People who say they think for themselves tend to believe in weird shit like flat earth. They often fall for conspiracy theories because they're attracted to alternative ideas out side of the mainstream because they see their independent thinking reflected in them.
- +1 y
@purplepoppy What do you mean by that?
- +1 y
@jgibsonian1986 meaning they project often amd are major hypocrites
- +1 y
The "what do you mean by that" argument is very patronising because your instantly suggesting the other person doesn't know what they mean. It also suggests that you've somehow been offended by their statements.
- +1 y
@purplepoppy It's not an argument, it's a question. It's not rude at all to ask for clarification either. If I ask what you mean it means that I'm the one who doesn't understand what they mean. I may be as offended as I want, offense isn't illegal, and asking someone someone clarify something that sounded offensive is polite if anything.
@Still-alive How did you come to that conclusion? It sounds like your just trying to insult me rather than explain, espically because you were neither asked to clarify nor typed the message. I'd really like to know your thought process is all - +1 y
@jgibsonian1986 because that’s basically what she said dude. Read better lol
- +1 y
Whenever someone says "what do you mean by that" what they really want is an apology and to make you look small. The reality is I have come to many a conclusion through reading widely, watching many documentaries and talking to people as well as thinking for myself. No I can't recall every source of my knowledge but who can.
- +1 y
@Still-alive Yeah that makes sense. I read it the same basically. Have you ever considered that thinking for yourself can be as simple as knowing what questions to ask against an argument?
I consider people who question often and seek meaning and reason to be ones who think for themselves, though you may not be thinking of the same people as I am. Hence why I wanted clarification, though I probably should have asked "what do you mean by people who think for themselves".
Like I said I didn't read the whole book so it's expected that I don't use the tactics perfectly but I think I made a good standing for why these questions are good to use. They get to the root of what is being communicated and then it puts that root into a new environment with a consideration question. - +1 y
@purplepoppy I'd be happy with just one! The questions aren't there to fight you, they are there to cut apart what you said to find the pearl of truth in the center.
I'll rephrase as I said i shoulda tho.
What do you mean by people who think for themselves? I'm not sure we are thinking of the same type of people. - +1 y
Let's take an example. If I tell passengers on a plane it's being held up by angels most will laugh. They will argue it's down to the laws of aerodynamics. But I'd wager that their knowledge of the subject is extremely small probably limited to one physics lesson they half slept through decades ago. as they are Unable to fully explain how thousands of tonnes of metal stays in the air, I can sit back smuggly knowing my angel theory by default has won the argument.
- +1 y
@purplepoppy Without tactics yes your argument would "win" by default. But arguments never win anything by default, thats why we have to defend and reason them.
How did you come to the conclusion that angels are holding this plane up? - +1 y
Alcohol.
- +1 y
Its usually better to ask someone to better explain their delusional or nonsensical idea than to entertain it even an iota.
- +1 y
Well what do you mean by alcohol? That's not a line of logic or reasoning at all, and I completely do not understand what you mean. Please help me understand
- +1 y
Don't you think that people who follow tactics from selfhelp books are annoying and are simply demonstrating an inability to construct their own arguments
- +1 y
Well, considering that I never even read the book or any like it, nope!
I know I'm annoying, I can't fix that, but I also know that I make up some pretty good arguments using just some basics sometimes. - +1 y
@jgibsonian1986 lol im leaving you alone here. You walked into a spiders web with her dude
See ya ill be watching 😎 - +1 y
@Still-alive Reread then and see if my word diarrhea actually comes to good sense, please!
- +1 y
@jgibsonian1986 nah im out. Have fun getting destroyed
- +1 y
If you want to see any theory crumble sit the person down with a small child who just keeps asking why... They'll find the limit to the persons knowledge within minutes.
- +1 y
@purplepoppy Yet another tangent. Its ironic that you have yet to do anything more than ask a question you think I can't answer then jump to another topic/example/pointless simale like your literally caption obvious with the attention span of my own 11 year old self. I was really hoping you would follow up at least one of these:
Well what do you mean by alcohol? That's not a line of logic or reasoning at all, and I completely do not understand what you mean. Please help me understand
@purplepoppy I'd be happy with just one! The questions aren't there to fight you, they are there to cut apart what you said to find the pearl of truth in the center.

I've answered all your inquiries, but that's all you can do.
Major irony there huh?
The one trying to bust my balls for using tactical questioning only uses questions as her tactics. - +1 y
I'm not going to play join the dots from a bargain store book on how to win an argument.
- +1 y
Probably because you can't argue anyways man. You're just fighting
- +1 y
Wow another male profile thats just a pseudo intellectual troll... and you're blocked.
There's ( No) primary or fundamental reason for an atheist IF , there's a GOD. (Religion) is mankind\womankind's traditional values set as rules (above) GODS commandmended commandments. Politics , seprerate people's belief from GOD as sin seprerates humankind from the Holy Spirit.
Atheism and religion are both abominations of the Holy spirit as well as political correctness defines your own destiny to darkness for eternity through denial. The proof of GODS existence is revealed to those who reveal they're faith towards him and is felt beganing with the Holy Spirit touch.
PS. I have never even heard of a rumor of a born again follower of CHRIST wanting or requesting a refund.02 Reply
Asker+1 yDon't you think mankind is another term for humanity, meaning women included? Womankind doesn't feel right to say. But, to each their own.
+1 yI'm not exactly atheist. However...
The people who violate The 10 Commandments the most are Christians themselves. And god forbid someone try to call out their hypocrisy. Not to mention Christianity teaches followers to love everyone like they would themselves, yet followers love themselves and ONLY themselves.
And Islam literally labels women as property you can literally just do whatever you want with. Including throwing em away when they're considered useless. I ain't no feminist, but like... what the fuck?
Was Desmond Doss the last good religious person on this Earth?01 Reply
Asker+1 yI think you should do more research on sia Islam, they are the true muslims, it's pretty sad that such few people are aware of that.
+1 yNothing. My religious disbelief doesn't define my relationships with other people.
I feel like religion is a personal choice. So I don't have a problem with people believing in whatever they want.
My problem is with people who try to make me feel bad about being atheist. I don't make them feel bad for being religious. Sooooo why do they attack me then?🤷♀️61 ReplyI don't want to be reformed to fit some criteria or to say someone else is wrong just bc I don't agree with them and their ideals. Besides sometimes religion can get creepy and makes me think its gonna poison me someday.
Besides it's hard to think something as an all powerful God would want this world to exist as it is. It makes much more sense that we are humans and we make mistakes. There is no guidance but we made this world how it is by living day by day, life by life, experience, failure, improvement is all part of it... religion was created to calm us down at our worst or to make sense of things we didn't understand.00 ReplyI’m an agnostic, but I don’t mind religious people until they start judging me or preaching at me. They are the ones that seem to have a problem with everything other people do. I’m over here just living my life and they can’t help themselves but to obsess over what I’m doing. Mind your own business.
39 Reply- +1 y
They are just doing what God has commanded them to do, go throughout the world and teach the Gospel. How is that much different than you obeying what your President wants you to do? I for one would rather obey God than man.
- +1 y
@JuliaStyles That doesn't mean anything if the person doesn't believe in the same God to begin with. If you want to live your life based on what you believe then that's obviously fair, but it's absolutely meaningless for other people unless you can demonstrate to them that your God exists to begin with.
Atheists don't reject your teaching because we want to go against God. We just aren't convinced that God is real in the first place so there's no reason to accept it. - +1 y
@AD240pCharlie Now substitute Gay Sex for God in what you just said. Which of the two would you rather hear about from a person?
- +1 y
JuliaStyles... Truth. with most either sin will embarrass them or they will embarrass sin. Also most , as in a majority , imply that a person is judging them by reminding them of the one who will ultimately judge all of us. You know when someone implys they're just minding they're own little business and not bothering no one... That's bondage from the devil himself.
- +1 y
@JuliaStyles I'm sorry, but how in the world does your question make any sense? "Which of the two would you rather hear about from a person?" Why does that matter? Are you saying that if you don't get to hear about God then you have to hear about gay sex? Because that's the only way your question makes any sense whatsoever.
Also, at least gay sex can be demonstrated to actually exist. The same cannot be said about God. - +1 y
@AD240pCharlie All you need to look at is the stars above and the diversity of life on this planet to know there was a designer. But I understand why people may not believe in a God, even though mostly all cultures through history have believed in a god or gods, or some higher being. Do you believe in evil? then you must also believe their is good. How can people believe their is a devil but not a god?
- +1 y
@JuliaStyles I've never met anyone who believes in a devil but not a God. They go hand in hand for the most part.
And to answer your question, do I believe in evil? Yes, but that doesn't mean I believe in absolute or objective morality. You do realize that people can believe in right and wrong without there needing to be any higher power, right?
Secondly, how is "look at the stars" proof of anything? It's proof that there is a universe out there and that light from those distance objects has reached your retina. That's it. That's all it is. And diversity of life is not evidence of anything either, except that life began at some point and natural selection has had enough time to diversify it. You don't need a god or creator for any of that.
2.3K opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. Nothing unless they want to assert their religion is true in which case they are either dishonest people or they are crazy. No rational mind could accept the fatuity of religious superstition with a straight face.
To that, I will also add that telling children they're going to burn forever in hell for doing perfectly innocent things which happen to be against the religious beliefs of their parents, is tantamount to child abuse.
Kids could be taught about religion but to tell kids that fairytales are actually true is a parochial obscenity.
Believe what you want but if your beliefs involve ridiculous superstition, imaginary beings, irrational punishments for trivial things and require threats of eternal punishment or promises of enlightenment and wishes coming true in order to convince and retain believers then expect to be ridiculed.00 Reply
+1 yNothing at all, provided they respect my lack of belief in the same way that I respect their belief.
I would never try to convince them that my views are correct, nor would I want them to try and convert me. As long as all parties can do that, we can get along just fine.20 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yAs an atheist I have nothing against religious people as a whole, but I obviously have a problem with religious people who preach at me, judge me for not believing the way they do, and thinking they have a monopoly on "goodness". So many religious people believe that religion is the source of truth and right and wrong, which of course is nonsense. Many of the best people I've known, who were great examples of the principles of goodness, kindness, morality and tolerance, were atheists. And many of the worst examples I have seen of moral depravity were from religious people.
I like good people, and I dislike bad people. There are good and bad people among both atheists and religious folks. Whichever you are, if you are a good person and you treat others with respect, and you don't judge them for not seeing the world through the same lens as you, we will get along just fine.00 Reply
+1 yOnly the ones who have a problem with me being non-religious. I don't care what gods you worship, just don't try to guilt trip me into believing in your religion. Even more so, don't use that bull shit "going to hell for not believing" threat either. It's only going to make me not want to follow it even more.
20 Reply401 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. Atheists generally have nothing against religious people. We prefer a "live and let live" sort of thing. Unfortunately it usually turns out to be religious people who try to inject their religion into laws that affect us. And that's a problem because we don't agree with the premise of such laws.

+1 yI don't think I have anything against religious folk.
But the thing I don't really like about religions is that you have to follow certain rules, which are basically impractical.
I don't hate anyone, as long as they don't hate on Atheists.
Because if they do, get ready for PvP, my friend.00 ReplyYou should visit Quota. com. An academic, question and answer web site. Prior to the pandemic, that web site was quite popular. Now, it's been hijacked by Christian fundamentalists, who only wish to convert any secular intellectual who thinks evolution is a harmless idea, used to describe natural selection. These morons are convinced it's the work of Satan. So, trying to have a rational discourse with them is an exercise in futility.
00 ReplyWell there's a dumb question. Atheists take a view of religion, not the people under it.
Religions however encourage converting people to their way of thinking, by sticking their nose in and trying to hold discussions on the matter. Atheists aren't trying to do anything more than get on with life.
Therefore if religious people would keep their views to themselves none of this old even be up for discussion.05 Reply- +1 y
You mean like LGBT people try and convert straights to their way of thinking? Aren't they the ones saying to be tolerant and accepting but they are far from doing the same, especially of Christians.
- +1 y
Quite the opposite!! Atheists, that I know, NEVER, EVER talk about their beliefs, or non-beliefs, same as me! I follow a Way, and NEVER talk about it, unless someone asks, and then only the ones that want to know, because they understand, are the ones I talk to!
It is the Christians, mostly, "recruiting" actively. Then Radical Muslem FCKS, and that is "Convert or be killed!!" FCK THOSE BASTARDS!!00 Reply434 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. Religious belief is insanity and people regularly vote based on their insanity.

2.6K opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. Nothing against the ones who live their lives the way they choose and leave others to do the same. But many religious people aren't content with that. They want to pass laws making others live according to their religion. In the US Christians want to spread their religion in the public schools and other public places, and they threaten violence against anyone who objects.

+1 yThe way they treat their children. Indoctrination into a religious order is child abuse as far as I'm concerned. Adults can believe whatever they choose, but as a society we should provide children with protections from things they don't yet have the capacity to defend themselves from.
Also, Parents should not be allowed to refuse life critical medical care on behalf of their children or force alternative education options on the grounds of "religious freedom"10 Reply
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yA couple of things - that they try to legislate their beliefs even though not everyone believes what they believe. (See gay marriage for example.)
That many of their beliefs are hypocritical and bigoted.
And I suppose another one is that they are so disingenuous all the time, kind of like how this question comes up so often because you all pretend you can't possibly remember or understand what it is you're all doing wrong, to make everyone else have something against you.12 Reply
Asker+1 ySo because I asked this question, that makes you think I'm religious?
Opinion Owner+1 yIt is usually asked by religious people, yes, and always under the guise of "What did we ever do?" which is like watching a criminal still dripping in blood going "What, me? What did I do?" I mean, he could be innocent, and you might not be religious. But I'd have my doubts.
I believe in a higher power but I really don't give a fuck what other people believe. I don't even like talking about religion, it ALWAYS leads to drama and arguing. I have no problem with anyone until they try to start a problem with me.

Religious person, what do have against atheist people?
Religion can be good for people that needs something to fallow that are incapable or have problems with creating something to fallow in life.
Very simple to be used and controlled by people that wants to use people for their own choosing.
And have been for thousands of years.00 Reply

00 ReplyI think it's a projections issue you feel compelled to start sharing your beliefs with others, you feel it's your responsibility to impose your views because most religions tell you to or move you to

It would've also started a TON or arguments and fights!! Hmmm, I thought religion was supposed to bring about peace, love and understanding.
I've had all of that most of my life and I'm not religious so, what's the point?
Okay, let's say there IS a god and the religious base their life of peace, love and understanding on their faith in a god. Okay, tomorrow, we learn that god died!! There's no longer any such thing as god! Does that mean all of their feelings of peace, love and understanding suddenly have to end, too? Isn't that kinda stupid to put what THEY feel on some invisible man that lives in the sky? What's so TERRIBLE about just manifesting it YOURSELF and cutting out the middle man? They're basically saying that they are COMPLETELY incapable of having their own thoughts and feelings as prescribed and designed by THEMSELVES and they need some sky pilot to TELL them how to think, feel and live!! In essence, they deem themselves puppets and can't do ANYTHING for themselves without a holy almighty stomper and puppet master to TELL them what to do! What's the point of living if you're not gonna live for yourself? Why MAKE yourself into a slave?

@TheBigGuy9 Well, it's hard for me to understand all the meaning of your sentence because my English is bad.
I respect everyone and people's beliefs. For example if I do not agree with someone on a subject I like to debate but always with respect. This is the essential condition for everything to go well. For example, politically I consider myself to be on the left, but I don't mind talking with people considered to be on the right, and whatever the subject, whether it is immigration, the LGBT community whatever.
