Have you ever been with someone who shares different religious beliefs?

It's been almost 3 years I'm going strong with my current relationship. I was born and raised in a Hindu family but I left my religion a couple of months ago. My boyfriend is a Muslim.

I'd personally never change , but I'm not religious , I follow spiritual Buddhism , but I'd never take anything too seriously just general life , if I were female there is absolutely no way I would convert to Muslim beliefs , they only go one way.

Been out with a few super Christian Churchie's , it didn't change me , I just left them to their illogical beliefs , as long as no one is hurt physically I don't really care.

You do know the first wife has to agree to him getting other wives and he has to be able to afford all of them as well as provide separate accommodations if they want separate living spaces.. So unless he is rich it isn't very likely he will get more, especially when they like having 5+ kids..

Ever since I was about 18 and went across to the other side of the country to go to college, met the girl I wanted to marry, and brought her home to meet my parents only to find that my mother didn't approve of her even though she had everything my mother always told me she wanted in a wife for me including being the same religion, I don't think I have dated another woman of the same religion since.

All the women I've dated have been a different religion than the one in which I was raised.

There is one major religion that I do not think I could date. That would be Islam although I don't fault you for that by any means. That decision is yours. But both the religion and the culture of the countries in the world where that religion is largely practiced are repugnant to me. So I don't think I could feel comfortable with that. Nonetheless I respect their right to practice the religion as long as they do it peacefully.

Yep, we tried making it work and I definitely could tell it was a strain on her at times. I am an atheist and she's Muslim, so you could see why, but despite that, it was a good relationship while it lasted.

Maybe. I do find Islam interesting though. It has made most sense to me. It's just that the strictness that I am afraid of. But I do get the reasons behind them too. As for now I'm not too sure, but if I were to convert, I'd convert to Islam.

You will HAVE to convert if you are going to take things further , and understand in this religion you are not even allowed to sign a document for financial gain , you will also have to put up with other wives. Its pretty full on.. and that's just the start.

@molonski2 I know the stuff related to marriages. Women do have the right to ask for dowry before getting married on the marriage contract itself and get inheritance (although not as same as men). At some places, men have the upper hand. At others, women. I do find balance and wisdom in it. To each their own I guess.

Believe me.. and I have seen this time and time again , women have zero input.
You will be a baby making machine , and from there he will take other wives , you cannot even sign a legal document. None of the women could sign my land contracts for example.
Absolutely NOTHING is worth living in this manner , you loose your entire identity.

You can have all the examples you like , but what I say is what actually happens in praise , you are young , just enjoy the relationship and completely forget about religion changing , its a crazy concept at 17 years of age , you have your life in front of you , competing with 3 other wives ( nad marrying young ) having masses of children , should not be part of that.
Just enjoy being young... its far too soon to be involved in this nonsense.

I know in the confines of marriage it can be used for health economic or even socio reasons. So which brand of Islam do you follow?
