10 moNowhere. Our consciousness simply ceases to exist. This is all we have. When it's gone, it's gone forever. Our matter and energy simply return to the universe. So don't screw it up. Live a good life. We have exactly zero evidence to believe there is any other outcome.
Is there a magic invisible sky fairy who's gonna take care of us forever? No, those are fairy tales that allow weaklings to cope with things they don't understand and avoid unpleasant truths. There is zero evidence of magical sky fairies. And no your holy book written by a committee of humans is not proof your religion is real.
Is the universe really a much more complex thing than we understand currently? Are are there actually more than the 4 dimensions we can perceive as space and time? Is string theory right about 10 (Superstring theory), 11(M theory), or 26 (Bosonic theory) dimensions? Does our consciousness exist outside of space and time. Is what we perceive just a projection into space time? If we "die" in space time does our consciousness continue to exist in other dimensions in some way? The answer is we don't know. And the answers to those questions are a long way off. Possibly beyond our ability to comprehend.

First you claim that "our consciousness simply ceases to exist", and you sound very sure of that, but then you go on about something totally irrelevant to the question ("string theory" of all things) and say that it might be possible we end up where space and time are simply irrelevant.
Well, there are only three dimensions, string theory is silly and wrong, and nothing can exist beyond space and time.
And one other thing; no one believes in the Reddit atheist's silly "magical, invisible sky fairy" bullshit. People believe in GOD, not "sky fairies"! Get your facts straight. - 9 mo
@Pet68 ,
Sorry to rattle your religious pacifier there man-child. But what I said at the end of all that is we don't know. And we may never know. And that is something you religitards cannot say to yourselves. You are desperate to believe in your magic invisible sky fairy because the truth is just too scary for you. That is pathetic.
And no, no matter how much it scares you, the God you invented is exactly the same as fairies, witches, ghosts, goblins, leprechauns, and genies. Stories for children from age 3 to 95. The fact you can't admit you believe in a lie is sad and pathetic. It spills over into your politics and probably your life in general. - 9 mo
I'm not "religious", simply pointing out that your beliefs here aren't even consistent.
Exhibit A: "Nowhere. Our consciousness simply ceases to exist. This is all we have. When it's gone, it's gone forever."
Exhibit B: "Does our consciousness exist outside of space and time. Is what we perceive just a projection into space time? If we "die" in space time does our consciousness continue to exist in other dimensions in some way? The answer is we don't know."
If the answer is that we don't know, then why do you say in the first paragraph that we do? - 9 mo
And I don't believe in an "invisible sky fairy"! I already told you this. Do you have comprehension issues or something?
Look, just face it: the New Atheist Movement is dying, if it's not already dead, in the West. People are turning away from the imbecilic nonsense that people like you are promoting, which is the worship of the false materialistic idol of naturalism. The vast majority of us can clearly see through the manipulative lies that are being foisted upon us by those with the agenda of dehumanising everyone in order to enslave us to the system.
As for your childish insults, well... I won't stoop to your base level. You can't come up with a single, solid, reasonable answer to why I should accept the nonsense you peddle here, so you have to resort to the kind of idiocy you resort to; "ad hominem" and straw-man attacks. Lame, truly lame. - 9 mo
Deep down, you really understand that God must necessarily exist, and that frightens you. Go on, admit it.
I say this because I can clearly see the signs within the rubbish you've written. Going on about "sky fairies" (which no person on Earth believes in), and about how "childish" it all is, and about how you think it "scares me".
A clearer case of projection would be hard to find. :) - 9 mo
@Pet68 ,
Fuck, your mind is trashed. There is no saving people like you. You god is a lie.

10 moSo hypnotherapists have done a lot of research on this and with all the NDE stories we have. I think we can be kinda confident that we know what happens. When you die you become a ghost. Normally a guide will come to get you. It could be a religious figure, family member. One little girl who had an NDE saw Santa clause. The guide will take you the world between worlds. It's kinda like a heaven, but you stay there until you reincarnate.

I'm a traditionalist so I figure if we're done with what we're meant to do here we get to rest in heaven -- and the wicked ones in hell. However as I matured I've encountered some deja vu with people that got me thinking reincarnation (or something like it) does exist when someone has unfinished business. There's only ONE WAY to find out and I'm in no rush. God knows where I am...

When program gets terminated memory gets deleted, program will be reused with empty memory. Maybe some compressed image of former run (life) remains somewhere? Maybe every program gains a small code modification? We don't know the rules but we can see the rules of physic and mathematics in Universe around us and some rules in microcosmos below the level of atoms are weird and don't fit to rules of macrocosmos we notice.
Maybe we are emulated biological beings to create AI that will give the master AI (alias god) that created our universe among others some hints how its was born?
Sorry if I'm confusing, but I don't think someone will give you better or worse answer for this question.

10 moNon-existence does not exist.
A thing that existed, will never cease to exist, it will only transform.
Break a vase, it transforms into shards, breaks the shards it transforms into crumbs, destroys the crumbs, turns into dust, destroys the dust, turns into molecules, destroys the molecules, turns into atoms, DESTROYS ATOMS, separates into protons and neutrons, DESTROYS PROTONS AND NEUTRONS AND ELECTRONS, you are left with quarks, destroy them too, you are left with photons and at this level even other particles or elements are created (begin to exist).
That object never ceased to exist once it was created. Matter/information cannot be destroyed, not even by a black hole.
This may be evidence of the existence of a future life after death in one form or another.10 Reply
10 moHeaven or hell, the idea of nothing makes no sense to me , me not existing at some point doesn't make it anymore logical to believe that when I die I'll stop existing, just cause I didn't exist at some point doesn't mean there's nothing, there's many children that aren't born yet and don't exist rn, that doesn't mean the world outside of their non-existence isn't existing right now tho, they just dont exist til they do, the odds of there being another stage that isn't back to non-existence is far more likely then going back to nothingness, think of it, there was a moment you didn't exist, according to your age it was 30 something years ago, before that there was still existence so why wouldn't there be some form of existence even before the universe existed, to think like " i didn't exist at some point then when I die I won't exist again" it's a small way to think, once something exists it can't just disappear, not even science can back such logic.

Anonymous(36-45)10 mo- We reincarnate, I'm not religious, but I'm spiritual.
Why? Because human mind is a form of energy, and we all know that energy never disappears, it only changes form.
- Can some ghost keep on wondering the Earth?
Maybe, if (for some reason) they don't want to return to physical form.
- Heaven and hell are not realistic places - you can't enjoy or get tormented if you don't have a physical body.
Heaven can be here on Earth, if you're rich and have a good life.
If you're poor, and have a bad life, it's like Hell.
But for most people it's more like Purgatory, somewhere in between.

10 moI'm not religious nor spiritual. We have to enjoy the present moment and live our lives as best as we can now. Once we die, that's it for us. We become bones and then turn into dust. Unless we're recognized (positively) for an invention or something of major contribution to the world, we'll all be just another average human soon to be forgotten, erased from history. No one will remembered us and what we did while alive. So my answer is B, we go nowhere. We just cease to exist.

10 mo"we" refers to the plural of "i". i refers to the ego. the ego is litterally just a software run by your brain. as you die, your brain rots away. so yeah. "you" as in your body nor "you" as in "the ego" don't go anywhere after you're dead. both your body and your mind ceases to exist. that's about it.

One ticket, one ride. And to think I existed at the same time as Black Sabbath! Blessed 😇

Anonymous(Under 18)10 mou know actually heaven/hell seems logical. many people suffer in life and they expect to have good moments at the end, without heaven they just tend to die at this moment. I mean why should we tolerate life when it has no happy ending and we gonna just get burry? can't we suicide right now to suffer less, if there's not happy ending? so what happened to religion and our messengers?

10 moYes I believe in heaven and hell. We all go to some place and wait for the resurrection. And then we receive our just rewards thereafter.

10 moHeaven and hell do not exist, therefore the answer is B. Heaven and hell are byproducts of primitive human fears. We want SO badly to believe that our existence means something, but it doesn’t.
