    This is easy to answer.
The most Protestant churches are having 3 problems:
    1. They are really just hateful shills for the GOP and have nothing to do with Christ or Christianity. Many parishioners are beginning to realize this so they want to transition to a church that actually teaches Christianity and love and forgiveness and not hate.
    2. As a side issue related to the first one, many people realize that they have friends or family who are gay or whatever - somebody who would be ostracized by the church they attend - and so they don't agree with their church's position and/or it puts them in a difficult situation.
    3. They just fucking social clubs no different than fraternities or sororities and high school cliques. People don't want to be judged or worry about their status in the church and have to deal with God knows whatever immature holier-than-thou Church Lady horseshit (like below). Many people grow up and don't want that shit in their lives anymore. (My wife and her parents were like that.)

So, they go to the Catholic Church which doesn't preach hate, doesn't have the bullshit that tiny local churches do. Furthermore, the current Pope is definitely one who many people admire... like John Paul II but even less uptight. Sure, the Catholic Church may be against abortion or thing that homosexuality is a sin, but they're not going to hate you for it.

The Protestant Reformation is about 500 years old. In a sense, many of those churches - especially the local small ones - have to grow out of the bullshit like that Catholic Church had to do. (It was because the Catholic Church was full of shit that the Protestant Reformation occurred to begin with.)

Because Protestantism is following it's inevitable conclusion of complete relativism. Once it unmoored itself from the Catholic roots, and therefore from Christ's foundation, it continued in it's trajectory away from obedience and towards worship of the self via self determinism and self actualization.

As is clear, this new ever-evolving belief system tends toward valuing desire over truth, a veneer of simplicity to cover confusion, and a worship of compassion.

All those earnestly seeking truth are abandoning this mess.

Christ established a church that the gates of hell would never prevail against. Protestants believe that the gates of hell did prevail against it for 1500 years until Martin Luther came around. So yes, they are unmoored from Christ. They did not abandon him but they did not stick with the church that he founded.

As for Mary, you're using the definition of pray that is only a few decades old. We are using the one that is centuries and centuries old. That's the source of your confusion

Wow those catholic preests managed to fool you @gwendoline. God did "not choose her for anybody to PRAY to her" nor "SHE pray for" anybody. Mary is not the mediator only jesus see source. You must NOT have any other mediator, not "pray to anyone to pray for you" that is a sin. See source

To @Grond21 your prevail argument is circular and baseless.
Due to catholic NOT his , therefore satan prevailed in catholic.
Jesus DID say " many will come in my name to fool people"... that is what catholics did.
Now ask yourself: jesus never said "have cardinals who appoint a pope" so who is further: the ones without a pope or the ones with a pope?

You just said that we are not to pray to anyone to pray for us. Because to pray literally means to ask, are you really contradicting Jesus when he said that we're supposed to pray to others to pray for us?

The first part of your argument has a few typos so I don't understand. As for the second, that's a non sequitur. Jesus never said to follow Sola scriptura, or to believe in the trinity. And yet you believe both of those. If you are being consistent and you applied your own argument to yourself, you would have to disavow both of those

While it's difficult to pinpoint a single, definitive reason for the Catholic Church's recent increase in converts, several factors contribute to this trend, including a desire for a strong community, intellectual rigor, and a search for meaning and hope in a world that feels increasingly fragmented.
Here's a more detailed look at some of the reasons:
    Strong Community and Tradition:
Many converts are drawn to the Catholic Church's sense of community and its rich traditions, which offer a sense of belonging and stability in a world that can feel uncertain.
    Intellectual and Apologetic Appeal:
The Catholic Church's emphasis on reason, logic, and intellectual inquiry, along with its robust apologetics resources, appeals to those seeking a faith that can withstand intellectual scrutiny.
    Desire for Meaning and Hope:
In a world grappling with division and uncertainty, the Catholic Church's message of hope and its call to holiness can resonate with those seeking a deeper meaning in life.
    Personal Relationships and Invitation:
Many conversion stories involve personal relationships and invitations from Catholic friends, highlighting the importance of witnessing and sharing one's faith.
Seeking a Counterpoint to Modern Trends:
Some individuals find the Catholic Church's traditional teachings on issues like LGBTQ rights, contraception, and the role of women attractive, especially as other Christian denominations evolve their stances on these matters.
    Evangelization Efforts:
While not always the primary driver, some Catholics are actively involved in evangelization efforts, seeking to share their faith with others and invite them to explore Catholicism.
    Latin Mass and Traditional Catholicism:
The resurgence of the Latin Mass and traditional Catholicism has also played a role in attracting some converts, particularly among younger generations.
Focus on the Eucharist and Unity:
The Catholic Church's emphasis on the Eucharist and its vision of unity can be attractive to those seeking a more tangible and unified faith experience.

Maybe some Protestants are sick of greedy mega-church swindlers and politics in church and are drawn to devout worshipful reverence and solemn ceremony.

Maybe they want to worship Jesus instead of the vengeful Judean god of the Old Testament.

And, after all, Protestant denominations are all offshoots of Catholicism.

Many branches of Protestantism are swaying away from traditional Christianity and traditional Christians are turning to the slightly more RC faith as a protest against 'modernisation' of Christianity. So the Protestants were created in Protest to corruption amongst other things in Rome and in the hierarchy. Now the Protestants are Protesting against the liberalisation of their strict foundations. The third and remaining option within Christianity is Orthodox Christianity.

Dunno. I'm not religious but my family is catholic. I was at a christening recently and it was very nice :). The older I get the more I appreciate this kind of thing. But I don't think I'll ever go to church regularly and pray. I'll just appreciate the cultural and traditional aspects and the family ties.

From my POV it's like fast food... the Catholic church has very clear style, rituals and leadership just like fast food restaurants. With non catholic places it's very, very different. There's many denominations and non-denominational places. Maybe it's confusing. Also it's the last days... so subconsciously a lot of people can sense there's big trouble on the horizon and they are trying to get their lives in order.

I haven’t noticed that here (all denominations are losing members), but many, even non-religious people, see Catholicism as the purest and oldest form of Christianity.

You wish! Catholics in US lost 1/5! Falling from "when 24% of U. S. adults identified as Catholic" before Obama in 2007, to just 19% now Feb. 26, 2025 update:

Why is the Catholic Church getting so many converts?

Of course Easter eggs tempt a few people, and a few more fell in love with catholics so converted, hence the concern among protestants.

There is a reason evangelicals prodestants are looking for a strategy to preserve their flock and its not like catholics are really trying with evangelical missions to convert prodestants, they just show up.

The stories talks about how the Catholic Church built bigger newer churches and that smaller older ones are rarely used. If you go to Italy you find any number of empty churches, they are empty because they are no longer used having been replaced.
I mean you can have 10 smaller churches each that require their own priest, maintaince and utilities or one larger church.
