Can I believe that love is the ultimate meaning and purpose of the universe without being a Christian? Or would such a belief, in the end, lack the strength and grounding of a religion—simply because it is something I came up with myself? I just want to live my life with love. I want to love myself, my actions, and the people around me with all my strength. Is Christianity the best path for this, or can I truly walk this path on my own?

It is absolutely possible to choose your own spiritual beliefs. They are no less valid or true for not having the backing of an organized religion. You can indeed live your life according to the principle of love (as you see it).

That being said, if you find that Christianity is a way of living what YOU believe, just in another form... that's great. In that case, you can certainly be Christian if that makes sense to you.

You need to do whatever you feel is closest to letting you express and live your own personal beliefs. Only embrace Christianity if it is a vehicle for you to live your own personal truths. Otherwise, you should just have your own beliefs. Love sounds like a great principle upon which to order your worldview and belief system.

Some Christians love burning and drowning witches and gays. Some people love their lives are about death and destruction, some people love to torture themselves, and teaching others how to.

Love is the worst thing in the world to lead anything, let alone leave unchecked. Love has caused more pain and death than most things close to it.

You need not only a reality check, but a kick up beside the head - before being thrown lovingly in front of Jesus.

This question isn’t even worth answering, what do you think people did before jesus was born? Did love just not exist until he touted it? Christianity revolves around the idea that love exists all around us and we choose whether or not we want to see it, so based on that detail alone you can figure out that christianity does not invalidate any form of love whether it is involved within the religion itself or not. To say love is everywhere means there is no limits to what you can do with or without being a christian.

I’m sorry but this is an attention seeking question, and really not worth asking at all.
If you need to ask something like this then you do not understand what love actually is, you are indecisive because you are choosing based on what is best for you and only thinking of yourself. Love always has 2 sides to it, always.

You’ve already failed at step 1, you want to do this properly? Then simply walk with love and breathe with love for the life within you and around you, asking if you should involve yourself in christianity is pointless, if that is the best path you can take you’ll reach it naturally if you simply start with what is inside you. Radiate your own energy, enhance it and focus it into a single point. Then take the energy from your surroundings and find the love within it, it has to be done carefully and you have to take it seriously. Don’t pretend you are in an anime because anime is made by people who understand these energies and types of magic do exist and that we as humans can become stronger and do all sorts of amazing things if we look past the idea that modern society is nothing more than a comfort and a luxury, not the reality or a default setting.

Now that I’ve answered I must say I really hate this question it’s just annoying, and that picture you added to it which makes no sense and doesn’t fit just makes me hate it so much more.

The Bible clearly states that God is love. God loves unconditionally, constantly, and never changes. Once anyone accepts Him as He is, God will never leave you nor forsake (betray) you. Yeah, some people call themselves Christian and condemn others. God said, "When you associate yourself with me, you will be hated; you will appear blameless before the Lord." (paraphrased) With the Lord, all things are possible and your past will not hold you captive. Nothing can, but the sinister will try.

In truth, ot most of them that I've met. They seem mostly interested in congratulating themselves for being Christian and trying to shut up anybody that isn't. Sorry Christians, from the outside the view isn't nearly as awesome as you think it is.
