@coachTanthony I'm disappointed that he's not "that American" yet I haven't watched him speak or speak English yet.
I also am disappointed very much that they didn't pick a more conservative, a more Italian, an "old fashioned candidate" sigh 😞 😔 especially one with financial qualification or skill because - apparently according to google results - the Vatican is losing money aka deficits budget cuts
@coachTanthony you'd have to wonder if the day will ever come when a Pope will approve, whenever a Pope will approve, selling assets
@coachTanthony and by "that American" I mean that "he's technically not as much American as someone who's always been born, bred, and raised in America and America alone" -
I don't care.
I really see no reason in a Pope and there is nothing in scripture about the world having one earthly Pope.
Some of the traditions of Catholicism I don't think are scriptural. Praying to Mary (a human being who died) reciting the same prayers over and over and over, having a Pope.
I find the Pope thing pointless.
@Dongie @Miristheiss Come on, dudes... all flavors of christianity are equally stupid, pointless and damaging to society.
You're a riot, Alice! Your heathenistic efforts to disbelieve are in vane. You'll have no success with this. I'm afraid that Christianity is over your head. The only part that is damaging to society are the false Christians that prey upon good people. They do satans bidding. You know this. It's not rocket science.
I'm just SHOCKED that trump isn't running his mouth saying the Pope's election was stolen away from him complaining that the damn Dem's must all be Catholic
According to my sources Trump insisted they take an American or he'd invade the Vatican.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
It worked !!!

Irrelevant. I have no interest in the Catholic Church. They sell lies to morons and protect pedophiles.
@OneViewpoint apparently the Roman church (Catholic church) is really starting to, easily Googled online results, lose money. From payouts in legal costs through to less members through to less donations (secularisation of the world, former Catholics leaving, etc other increasing religions) etc religion ☯️🔮
@OneViewpoint thankfully there's always a difference even legally between "visiting enjoying Italy" versus "hmm I don't wanna cross that border line and donate to the Vatican just to walk in the public square blah blah St Peters blah blah because that goes to funding that very institution of which has been around the world in other parts sued for lawsuits, ethical issues, etc"
I suspect political motivation in the election. Who better than an American Pope to serve as a counterweight to Trump?
@exitseven I don't know anything about the dude.
@OlderAndWiser He is conservative and has a lot of connections with the US. There are a lot of people in my area that have worked with him in the past and nobody said anything bad about him. I suppose if they did they would get struck by lightning anyway,.
He speaks like Jesus would. Not MAGA Jesus, AUTHENTIC JESUS. I like him. Hope he's open to more reforms especially for gays, women & pedo priests.
It is another sign from God that America must survive. First he saved President Trump from assassination now we get an American Pope.
😄 Oh yeah, if there's a god (assumed to be a perfect being), I'm sure that he would stand by a piece of dog shit like trump.
I dont know what opinion i have. isn't the pope much like the royal families now? Completely and totally useless? No wait i bet they are a great charity source.
Disappointed. I was hoping they'd pick Trump so he'd GTFO from the White House.
From what I've heard, it's not about leading the church or church doctrine or anything that matters. It's basically a popularity contest. 🤷🏼♂️
@AndrésC64 it's also well known that "the pope is an elected monarch - elected only by those with the right to vote in the Vatican aka cardinals under 80 age etc, blah blah blah"
@AndrésC64 the worst part for such a "brand" that promotes it's virtues, it's really isn't "something that allows the ordinary catholic to vote in or even suggest candidates in" - go figure that branding into the future. Aka fades into irrelevance and the worst pressure of all for that church into the future is "the Vatican is losing money" 🤑
Per Google results Vatican deficits etc of the 2020s currently 2025
You just reminded me of this bit from George Carlin
"Religion easily has the greatest bull shit story ever told. Think about it, religion has actually convinced people…that there’s an INVISIBLE MAN…LIVING IN THE SKY…who watches every thing you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten special things that he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish where he will send to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry for ever until the end of time.
But He loves you. He loves you, AND HE NEEDS MONEY! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money!"
@AndrésC64 it's just society's typical divorcee deadbeat ex husband / ex boyfriend (with or without having impregnated a woman) 👀 ; and thankfully I'm not that and I'm not bad with money 💰💰 you're right though - and I've heard of the performance before - the case in point remains - "why aren't the Cardinals any good at handling money either (recent Vatican deficits apparently google 2023/2024) ; shrug 🙃😋
Oh so that's why JD Vance killed the Pope this was the plan all along.
Cool that he's an American. We'll see how he does.
it’s excellent I’m very happy about that I was very surprised
Or deficits I'm not economic lol 😂
Well, I was cool with it, until I found out he was a cubs fan!
Vatican City just became the 51st American state without a fight.
I guess it’s about time, but I don’t know what difference it will make anyway
I'm not catholic so it doesn't matter to me
Is he the coming false profit? Also the last pope.
I care about a fairy tale called religion why?
@robocop666 for some reason the mainstream media still seems to think so for the ratings or advertising selling during news commercial breaks for eyeballs aka viewers etc - mainstream media one decade rarely post church stories, next decade "a conclave there's wall to wall stories" - go figure that one :)
It won't affect American politics, because most Americans aren't catholic.
I'm not Catholic so I don't really care.
The most recent Pope was an American.
So Trump wasn't too far off.
