There's references to places and people in the bible that are historically accurate but then there's just nonsensical fiction mixed in with the correct things and as the reader you have no way of telling apart fact from fiction. That's why that book doesn't serve well as a history book but should be understand as anekdotal stories to guide morals. Which to be fair lots of the moral guidance is absolutely terrible according to todays standards, so i'd advise even against that.
