That God will only solve your problems for you when you have already diligently tried to solve the problem on your own and instead of getting better, the situation has gotten so bad, you can no longer solve the problem with your own effort and thinking. When you are helpless after trying everything you possibly could, that is when God will act on your behalf.

I'll just show you a few things and say a few things:

God is maintaining the universe which is light years larger than we could ever hope to measure, simultaneously holding subatomic particles together, and every detail in between. He is not a vending machine waiting for our coin. He doesn't need the fuel of our good works to keep everything running. He is not waiting for each of us to come up with a plan and invite Him into it. He has invited us to agree with his plan, which will unfold with or without our agreement. He has blessings for each of us and we will receive most of them whether we want them or not. He has tests for us, and we will be taking all them whether we want to or not.

John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." <- Where's the part where it says I have to help myself in there?

"God helps those who help themselves" (Ghtwht), is not in the Bible. A great many verses in the Bible indicate the opposite. Ghtwht, is a heresy. I don't say that lightly, as a matter of fact it's not even my decision. The Council of Ephesus (431 AD) said so. We are "dead in our sins" (Ephesians 2:1). A dead person cannot "help themselves" Search the interwebs, I'm not making this up. Read for yourself. Find the Christian Classics Ethereal Library online. Cute theory, but that relies on a cosmological framework that isn't actually rooted in Christianity.

Christianity comes from Apocalyptic Judaism.. which basically states that the physical world as we know it is already lost and God isn't going to do shit until judgment day.

If you're praying for anything other than salvation at the end times.. you are praying in a manner that is not congruent to what original Christianity was about.
