That sometimes God delays your compensation because he wants to motivate you to correct your behaviour and he knows you will slack off from developing your personality or your skills once you get the rewards you are seeking. Other times, God is testing you, to see how you will behave when your demands are not met.

I'm not sure that I agree.

My reward is in knowing that I have been pious. The sense of satisfaction that I've helped someone is my reward. Actually, there's little delay. I do a good deed and my reward is almost immediate.

Sometimes, I feel tested and tbh, I don't do well. I'm thinking of people who are so desperate that they ask for money. They deserve my compassion and often I don't give it.
