Why does my abuser continue to go to church, when what they did to me completely contradicts everything the church claims to stand for?

For the same reason that he is an abuser. Abuser in church is a contradiction, but so is it a contradiction to abuse one's spouse. He has one goal but does the opposite. It's exactly like people who fear one thing the most in life and continue to do it.

Why can't they take control of their own life? I think it's because they tried grasping and it left no life there. Like the soul is too weak, incompetent, and dies inside when he attempts to be command it by the ego. Hence the church, the "spiritual bypassing" as a futile attempt to fill a void.

Almost like sending a landscaper to work with sprouts, a job that more gentle nurseries do. The landscaper crushes the life out of it. You first have to let the soul life grow up and mature and then take control with the ego.

He should feel the painful shame of being an abuser, not suppress the shame with replacement psalms, but then rationalize the feeling "being an abuser is bad" until this moral stance is engraved into his spirit, so much that even in his dreams he will be too moral to abuse someone.

Otherwise any morality is just a mask he wears. ㅤ

He's just jumping from one extreme to another, instead of balancing the opposites. From an irrational maniac to a caged psalm dispenser as a "solution" to the problem. When the inner selfishness is wrapped up in a "justice system" logic type of "good person" compensation, you can feel that it's devoid of warm and authentic morality.

The word abuser used to mean hitting. But these days they call abuser to people who spoke 'too harsh' but didn't really say anything wrong. He probably thinks he didn't say anything wrong.

To rephrase your question: 'Why does a sinner continue to go to church' because Jesus came for the sinners.

If you believe what the church stands for then you would forgive that person and respect that person and keep quiet about it. If you don't believe it, then you have no business commenting on it, especially to a bunch of strangers on the internet.

The church is supposed to be about repentance; so the question should be why haven't they asked you for forgiveness?
