Do you believe in having someone to swear to tell you the truth by putting their hand on a Bible while swearing to tell you the truth?

I actually have done this once before because it made me feel like the person wouldn't do anything bad while they were in my apartment while I wasn't there.

Nol. As George Carlin used to say, "Sure! I'll tell you as much truth as what's in that book!"
In the first place, I've seen people swear like that and still lie, one of the people that caused me to lose my house, for instance!!
2ndly, I don't NEED to swear on a bible because I don't lie! At least not to my knowledge. I tell what I know. If something happens to turn out false it's just because I didn't know that beforehand! I would MUCH RATHER have people trust me and you CAN'T have that by lying!! Once you've lied, and they found out, they can never trust you, again!! From then onwards, it becomes a LOT harder for you to get someone to believe you even if you ARE telling the truth!!
Little white lies, I can deal with, like, telling your kids about Santa and the Easter bunny or keeping a present for someone a secret or a surprise b-day party from the person you're having it for. Almost nobody considers those to be actual lies.

My mother, (good little catholic girl that she was) use to lie about all sorts of things! Even things she didn't NEED to lie about and, quite often, got caught in those lies so, that, too, kept ME from lying to people. There's just no way I can possibly keep track of all the lies, who I told what to, which lies I told to cover the first lies, and all the other baggage that comes with it!! I'd MUCH RATHER just tell the truth!!

No if I dont trust someone I dont hang out with them.

The people I do hang out with if we were at my house and I had to go some place I would tell them I will be back? What ever time and if they go anyplace just lock up..

Most all my friends know if I have something they need they know all they have to do is ask..
And I have had a couple good friends to just talk and I've cought them and just tell them they can't come over to my house anymore

People go to court all the time and swear on the bible and they still lie straight in front of your face

Only if they are Christian, but its not necessary for me. Its not like lying is allowed either way if they are Christians so swearing on the bible or just being honest is the same to me.

People are going to lie no matter what they have their had on the Bible or not. Lawyers will tell you that people routinely lie on the witness stand if they know they can get away with it.
