Especially as it changes from March some years, April in other years. Isn't it still "trippy" aka disbelief that Pope Francis died on Easter Monday 2025. Shocking still eh? Very surreal.

Yes, I do look forward to Easter every year. We celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus, the weather is often beautiful and warm, and my fastings are done.

I'm not sure it's "trippy" that Francis died the day after Easter. Quite frankly, I'm surprised he made it out of the hospital not a month earlier.

I also was taken aback because similarly to you "when I saw him released in February 2025 from hospital I instantly thought 💭 oh look it's a miracle, man's gonna love another 10 years* - and sadly did not by Easter :(

Well personally, I think he was one of the worst popes in the history of the Church and, barring the Second Coming of Christ, I think history will confirm as much.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't upset when he was released. I prayed for him constantly. But, I also looked at the fruits of his papacy, how he treated faithful orthodox Catholics, and I kept a spirit of hope that a better pope would come along eventually.

I suppose there's always as the movie Conclave presented and I had already known from my own religious experiences even in another denomination or two. Pope's are ideological and political like anybody else. Ah well - 😅 looks like under Leo the 14th, it's the Benedictus years once more 🙃

I don't know. He's said that he wants to continue in the same direction as Pope Francis, which is not encouraging. He is a more agreeable personality than Francis though, and I think that the so-called "reforms" of Francis will continue, but with fewer headlines and possibly at a slower pace and hopefully more input from more traditional-leaning clergy. We'll have to see. I don't really know what to make of him yet.

Good Friday is a public holiday. As the Sunday is on Sunday that means Monday is a public holiday.

So a four day weekend. Shit yeah that is something to look forward. Add three paid holidays or take three sickies and you have a week off.

Definitely chocolate eggs and hot cross buns. As with Christmas, Easter is a pre christain celebration of the equinox. Because I like history, I like that component and beer is definitely part of solstice and equinox celebrations.

A whole lot of things ripen in Autumn - like apples. I really like seasons. It was magical growing up on a farm. Never going to lose my love of seasons.

Broad cultural celebrations are good in whatever form they take and however people chose to enjoy it. So enjoy your Easter streaming!

The Royal Sydney Show is at the autumn equinox and over Easter whilst the Royal Melbourne Show is at the spring equinox. Christmas is only ever a few days off the summer solstice.

We do need to work on a winter solstice celebration which is entirely lacking in the southern hemisphere aside from the occasional White Christmas. We need something to make us joyous around 21 June aside getting to do tax returns.

I used ot like hiding the Easter eggs for my kids. One year it was pretty warm on Easter so we hid them outside. My son cae across a little pile of rabbit turds and he was so excited that the Easter Bunny was really here.
