Some studies say 60% of doctors are religious and other surveys show 95% of them believe in God. I think the 95% might be closer to the truth because for a normal person who is not very gifted intellectually, you need not just intelligence but also very good luck. When I was university, a lot of professors would grade you based on whether they like you, rather than based on how intelligent you are.
I knew very smart guys that were given low grades, just because the professor did not like their foreign name or their different religious tradition etc...
So you need both very good luck and high intelligence to do well in humanities and if you do not have high intelligence, you need high creativity and extensive academic training to make up for not having high intelligence.
That might be true for STEM classes as well. I heard some schools make you do a lot of group projects, where you do not have total control over you grade or your chosen project partner, meaning you would have to rely on God to give you a good project partner, so your grade is once again a product of good luck and not high intelligence. And god determines your luck in academia.
