Is it worth reading The God Delusion at this point?

... or  any  of the so-called "New Atheists"? A number of years ago, I bought a copy of The God Delusion. I wanted to read it to see what they were thinking. I wasn't much of a reader back then and I was also incredibly busy at that point with my job (I worked a lot of overtime... and I do mean  a... LOT ). Then I got married and had my first kid, then I took my catechism courses, then I had more kids, and now, well, here we are nearly ten years later and it's just been sitting on my bookshelf. It's taking up space and have a bunch of other books I want to read. The couple of brief snippets that I did read basically amounted to "pfff,  WHATEVER! " And then there's to consider that Dick Dawkins now seems to be regretting his earlier work, calling himself a "cultural Christian" upon seeing what's been replacing Christianity in Britain. But maybe I'm wrong?  Is it still worth reading at this point?

To what end? If your ends justify the means, then read it. If not, donate it to a used book store.
I suppose that you have already answered those most compelling of questions for yourself. In my experience, atheism is devoid of answers. It’s a collection of questions and challenges to the faithful. How pathetic do you suppose life is for someone who, instead of building something and elevating people, spends their life trying to tear others down? What could a person like that meaningfully contribute? Maybe throw out an extra prayer for the chap. He obviously needs it. I suspect “cultural Christian” means that he fundamentally adheres to the values of Christianity because that’s the basis for much of western civilization. I also suspect that he clarifies that point because he isn’t interested in spreading the word and doing the work. Faith without works is dead. Make no mistake, the people and organizations trying to undermine Christianity are working hard at it. A rhetorical response will be inadequate, futile and will ultimately fail.

whether or not there's any value or worth in it... that's up to you

and it will only make a difference to your perspective, you said you were interested on knowing their perspective, so... the value of worth of a broader, and in this case, a contrasting perspective depends solely on you

so, do you still value knowledge and perspective in contrast with your own? or not?

you should decide that by yourself and for yourself too

it is just annoying. i selected a few chapters that looked interested. he REALLY should have only written about biology.

like the chapter he admitted 'god is possible ' that refuted the title delusion. or blaming 'religion' for muslim actions. not every rectangular is a square!

i wrote a bunch of mytakes my first year here responded to some of his crap.
