Why do people still call humans and fictional heroes ‘gods’ instead of the true Creator?

I noticed that comic book authors and anime authors repeatedly call their characters "Gods" and now soccer fans and analysts are calling Lionel Messi a "God".

The ENTIRE reason the Hebrew Bible was written was to show that God is not a man and God is not something made by your hands. Both of those propositions are idolatry and violate either (or both) of the First and Second Commandments, which by the way, are derivable truths along with the 8 others among the Ten.

It's shocking to me how stupid people are. "Oh Superman is a God" or "Hulk is a God" or "Storm is a God" or "Lionel Messi is a God".

I can't believe i still have to correct people for being so foolish.

You need to learn to read better. It's "gods" with a small "g" as they are not attributing "divinity" but "superpowers" for entertainment.

They are attributing divinity, and they spell God with a capital "G".
