    Imagine two alternative scenarios.

    SCENARIO 1

Some guys said "y'know boys, we've got a good thing going here, but you know what this place really needs? An invisible magical sky fairy! I know it sounds crazy, but it's truly genius! We just say 'that guy exists' with no logical reason or explanation for how or why he exists and then grift off and control those naive fools. It's perfect. What do you think?"

*Others think for a moment* "Mmmm... yeah, that's actually a good idea."

"And that's not even the best part! We'll tell them...*snickers*... we'll tell them that he has a son, right? We'll tell them that his son became human and was brutally tortured and killed in the most horrific way imaginable and... hey, come on, follow me on this...he comes back to life!"

*Others think for a moment* "Brotha, you know, you are just on it!"

    SCENARIO 2

One looks around and asks why anything exists at all, how and why the things of the natural world operate as they do and with the precision that they do. He observes that one thing causes another and asks whether there is a first cause of all things; an uncaused cause, an unmoved mover, an uncreated creator that is superior to, beyond, and distinct from the created world below. And maybe, in some way, said being made himself known.

Between those two scenarios, I think the second is more likely. Or at the very least, less absurd.

The book "And Man Made God" is good one to read if you haven't. There is also good history in it and worth reading for that alone (which I did).

I don't think God arguments are worth having. I am inclined more to the creation than the creator. Sometimes i run a Harvest Festival for my friends during which beer is sacrificed to renew the land.

There is unfortunate lack of hidden groves and secret springs nearby unfortunately but we do have an ornamental pond at botanical garden.

@julie07 No one wants to face their own mortality. No human has ever wanted to face the reality that their life will end at some point. "Life after death' promises something better than this life on this planet, and we are told that if we believe in the "lord Jesus Christ' that when we die, we will go to Heaven whatever that is, and we will have 'eternal life"? What could be better?

I read somewhere, that "If we did not already have God, we would have to invent one"

All societies, at every point in time had a God, or Gods. The Romans had theirs, the Greeks had theirs, the Indians had 'the Happy Hunting Ground" The Vikings believed in Valhalla, as being their version of Heaven. So, is God merely a human invention? Your guess is as good as mine.

Historically speaking, there's just too many civilizations coming up with their own beliefs about higher powers, Polytheism before, Monotheisms now. That hints at a human invention.

Psychologically speaking, it feels much better to believe in some form of continuity after life, better that than thinking we endured hardship and death for no good reason. That hints at a human invention.

Socially speaking, Religion, common and unquestionable beliefs, common and unquestionable morals tied us up together to create tribes and societies for millennia. That hints at a human invention.

But all these hints hint at nothing really when you have faith. Because faith does not need any reasoning to sustain itself.

Yup. Every tribe and culture around the world throughout human history had their own gods and creation stories. They served to explain the unknown, to give solace to the dying and to the bereaved, give courage to the living, and to keep society cohesive through shared beliefs, taboos, rituals and customs.

Rulers and religious leaders learned how to use religion for power and profit.

Some people need to believe in gods, whether they be supernatural beings, heroes, saviors or scientists. People need to place their faith in something.

I don't give the God of Abraham much credibility, but who knows.

If someone you cared about told you they had made a friend that was invisible, inaudible, had no scent, could not move objects, left no trace, but that was giving me instructions in my mind about how to live my life and what decisions I should and shouldn't make... what would you do?

Of course otherwise Zeus turning into a Snake to rape his own mother who was a Snake trying to escape him would be real. That was just a fun example to randomly use but ya can take any absurd story from fiction on any god.

Yes, countless gods and goddesses, devils and demons, have all been invented by humans to serve humans. Precisely zero evidence exists to prove any of them are anything but human insecurities poured into a fantasy creature.

No, that belief would not disappear for this reason. Because you can't take down a belief so widely spread already. Faith is rooted in History, it is constantly spreading and being transmitted across generations.

It's most accurate to say God is a human concept. An invention would be something that has a practical use, like a trouser press.

Is an Absolut and undeniable true in any form of religion.
God created evrething, is just people like you who want to see and to have a more evident prove of a process like in a factory of laboratory.
In other words you guys are imitating yourself to a phisicalreality that even sciences say our eyes, don't see evrething that is happening around us in the universe.

Firstly, just because we don't have all the answers yet, it doesn't mean we won't have them in the future, and quantum physics is starting to provide some answers.

I didn't mean that you don't have all the answers.
I mean that although the future basolut of the universe is the absolute vacuum by swallowing galaxies by black holes, and subsequently their evaporation according to Hawking's theory, the beginning is even more uncertain.
A total world of vacuum cannot exist (I'm talking about the end, even the black color of the vacuum is a "something", and someone created that thing in order to exist).
The same is true with the beginning, someone/something CREATED the "beginning" whatever that beginning in the void may be.

God is omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent. He has no beginning, no end and is all powerful and all knowing.

So it is completely logical and pertinent for him to exist.
And energy and matter do not disappear according to Einstein, they only transform.
