Why do hyper-religious people so often act cruel and hypocritical?

Every single time I deal with someone who is "hyper religious," they are shockingly unkind. They memorize scripture and go to services just to turn around and gossip, judge, and treat outsiders like garbage.

You would think that devoting your life to a faith that preaches loving your neighbor would make you a better person. But in my experience, it does the exact opposite. They act like their religion gives them a free pass to be arrogant and mean, all while patting themselves on the back for being "righteous." It is pure hypocrisy.

The reason they are religious in the first place is because of their trash upbringing and trauma.

Trauma when they were forced to rot in a church instead of playing outside. It left an emotional and developmental scar.

Here is some background to how i think traumas work...

Trauma doesn't even require overt violence and emotional aggression that religious people display. If we were put into strollers a lot then we have lingering abandoment issues until we grieve it because our biology expected us to be carried in arms like humans were for a million years, and if we just compensate with staying in touch with parents a lot (and worshipping daddy god) without grieving the scar away from our nervous system then we will inevitably leave an abandonment imprint on the next generation in some bizzare fashion no matter what we physically do, even if we do not use strollers.

They're all fucking miserable and... man... even those most "perfect church grannies who sacrifice everything for the greater good" traumatized me, from bare leg shaming to claiming that "oh, life is supposed to suck, that's how we get to heaven". They are retarded.

Their lives suck because of traumas and emotional abuse. Childhood traumas. They think their lives suck because they aren't partying and drinking. But, losers, people only get into drugs and drinking to cope with traumas. So it makes jo difference. Actually, at least drug and alcohol aren't allowed to be force fed to children, like religion is.

So... even regular chronic health issues, they cause chronic stress, and instead of fixing the root cause, it is easier for the ego to say "that is not a chronic illness. That is just my conscience. I am actually superior for being unhappy, it is god whispering to me to not become a sinner who enjoys life!"

Similarly, the other religions, me personally i was invested into astral projection and karma and stuff, all to externalize my pain. I would believe that i feel tormented because it is karma or i didn't act spiritually enough... when in reality i feel chronic torment because of childhood traumas.

And maybe there is a spiritual component to childhood traumas as i already started writing about it at the end of my profile description today.

That's what 100% all of christianity is. Doesn't matter if at all any of the spiritual shit is true or not. 100% all religions are trauma bypassing.

No idea what you think "hyper-religious" means. But assume you mean "try hard".

In any walk of life you will find try hards a problem. Be it work, religion, social circles etc.

It's nothing to do with their religion or position, but their personality. They feel "better" than the people around them and want the respect that brings. If it's not their ideals on religion, it will be something else. They will wear any mask that they feel elevates them.

God's word is perfect. Unfortunately man is not. And i'm not giving these people a pass. I'm just answering your question. Sometimes people only internalize the parts of God's word that they want to, that they're ready to hear. God's talking they're just simply not listening.

I can tell you where i struggle. I've been a christian for 20 plus years and i still struggle with forgiveness. It's not my place to judge others, but forgive them. Yet i stll find myself doing it. I hate myself afterwards to. And i try to explain it away. But i know there is no sufficient excuse.

simply we define 'cruel' differently. harmless p. c. words are not cruel. also priority is to real cruelty. see below. we are commanded not be arrogant and that does not mean your misinterpretation of arrogance.

if you wanna fight cruel then first fight mothers who heartlessly kill their own fetus. or circumcise their baby son or girl. fight real cruelty.
